Who taught Matt to drive?
"My grandfather taught me how to drive. He said one day he won't be able to be behind the wheel anymore and I will have to drive for him." he explained.
Recap. Angry Pokemon started chasing them, erupting from a bookstore, Matt suddenly knows how to drive and they all lived happily ever after, dodging the Hyperbeams and Rock Throws and whatever they threw at the students... That is until he maneuvered to a telephone pole. They were fine but now they have to go back on foot then.
"There goes the car," John comments. looking at the crushed front. Imagine a toy car crushed by a Pokemon then squeeze it a hydraulic press. That's just about how messed up it was.
"Sorry, I uh, when I heard that we were already here, I panicked and hit the breaks," Matt confessed. "Plus, the car was already broken before we even got it. If anything, it was fate."
"It's okay," John said, standing up from inspecting the car. "At least no one is hurt... or stuff."
"Says the guy in a now ruined fancy suit." Louise says as she checks the wrappings on her arm and on her leg. "I mean it's such a shame that it got a rip over there."
John looked at his elbow and there certainly was a rip and blood was kinda hanging out in a small cut on his skin. "Nah, don't worry about it. This isn't mine anyway. On the contrary... I forgot I was still wearing a suit."
Oh wait, did I mention that John was wearing the same tuxedo from the party about a week ago? What party? Read the previous story if you want to know about this 'party'.
"So..." Matt tried to change the topic. "The old Battle Tower..."
"Yeah, we didn't even think that they're that sentimental," Louise said, looking at the remains of the Battle Tower. And by what I mean by 'remains' is that when the day of the apocalypse came, every strong and in-training Pokemon realised that they were free and started chasing their trainers and destroying everything around them, that would include the tower itself. That should explain the holes and holes in the walls and the very... unique debris laying around.
"Let's go. Let's go find Nick-" then Matt suddenly stopped as if he saw a ghost. He looked at John with extreme horror on his face. "John! Look out!"
"What? No it's okay he's-!" but John was tackled by two students and they stood together as they face a floating Lampent.
"What were you thinking? It's a Pokemon!" Louise readied her hatchet.
"Don't worry, John, she got this." Matt said.
"Hey, hey, hey, guys!" John moved between them and the creepy floating lantern Pokemon, raising his hands. "It's okay. It said that he recognised me."
"Recognised you? How is that even sure that it- wait, it... It 'said'?!" she asked, keeping her ready-to-attack pose.
"Yeah... it said."
The students were confused about what he just said. "Did- did it talk?!" Matt asked, "Can that Lampent talk?"
"No it's just... oh... uh... " And so John told them the whole story about the 'accident' and his amnesia and about the ability to understand Pokemon that he got. From the day he woke up in a hospital bed in Helix Hospital to the day he met someone named Mr. Rich to the day a stampede of Stantlers that crashed a certain party. It was like telling the true story to your doctor about that rash and why is it bleeding red and not just a patch of grayish skin.
And the Lampent was there, floating, waiting patiently.
Just like how Lampents wait for patients to... *ahem* nevermind.
