"Psst."
John woke up. He almost forgot that he was thrown in a cell along with his pokemon and some others. The dim fluorescent light in the hallway was the only thing illuminating everything and nothing at all.
"Psst," someone hissed again.
John looked up to the cell in front of theirs. There was nothing there, not even a Pokemon. It must be from the cells beside his or the cells beside the cells beside it. He slowly stood up, hoping that it wasn't beside the cell he was in.
When he stood up, he was suddenly reminded that he was bitten by a Houndoom. His arm throbbed in pain and he held it as if applying pressure would dampen the pain. The area around the wound was soaked in blood but it was already dry and it would probably be better if it wasn't exposed to open air. He walked to the bars and looked at the cells beside the cell in front of him. He found someone or something in the leftmost cell that he can see. He can't see the person completely but by the voice, he could guess who it was.
"John, is that really you?" the person asked.
"Mr Rich?" John returned.
"Yeah, except that I don't know if I deserve to be called as 'rich' at this state," he answered back. "There's a little time to explain, the Rhydons will take you upstairs any minute now but is that a Gardevoir with you?"
John turned around to look at my Gardevoir. He almost forgot about her and the Greninja and Torracat. "Yeah, she's asleep for now."
"Thank goodness."
"Why?"
"Well it might attack you! Look at me, I've almost lost my leg up there and they said that I taste like cheese!"
"Wait, you can understand them too?"
Mr Rich shook his with a laugh. "Understand them? Why should I? I have Alex here to translate everything for me."
Someone knocked on the wall next to John. "Yo, John," Alex called from the other side. "I still have my 'Pokemon Whisperer' trick but to be honest, I think I'm not sure of what they're saying half the time. I don't even think they said that you taste like cheese."
"That's good enough for me," Mr Rich said. "Now, John, the other thing I want to tell you before they get you is about our escape out of here."
"An escape?"
"Yeah, we've been here for like, four? Five days?" Alex guessed, "I don't know how long we've been here but enough is enough and we need you to bust us out of here."
"So... Uh... How... What... How should I get us out of here?" John asked.
"Do you have your umbrella with you?"
Come to think of it, John never realised the disappearance of his umbrella. Nope, it was as if he was wearing a wrist watch and a sneaky thief with quick hands have relieved him of the timepiece. "No... why?"
"Well according to Alex, the Pokemon around here seemed to be talking about you and your indestructible umbrella," Mr Rich explained. "Again, he might be wrong about that indestructible part but if it is, we could use your umbrella to pry open these bars and we'll just improvise our way out of this cursed Pokemon Tower."
But it IS indestructible. The problem is just that it's not here. The Pokemon must've taken it form him while he was out. How did they know that John's umbrella was indestructible? He was sure that there wasn't any Pokemon around when they tested it with a remotely back in the school. Or were there? Word must have gotten around way too fast.
