His family was watching.

Watching as he stepped onto the train with pity in their eyes. He didn't need their pity, he didn't deserve it, nor did he want it. The unfortunate girl smiled at him.

"Sucks to be us." She laughed, pain clear in her voice.

"Yeah." The boy agreed, speaking softly, looking down on the girl. She was older than him, but he was much taller, having what he called 'freak-genes' which caused him to be ridiculously tall.

"I'm Olive." She smiled at him, making the boy wonder how someone could be so calm about wandering into her inevitable demise.

"Hank." He looked at her curiously, studying her. "This is probably going to sound ridiculously rude, but how are you so calm about this?"

To this she laughed and said. "I was going to end it anyway, this just speeds up the process."

The rest of the train ride was silent.
