Chapter 4: Coming home

Laxus P.O.V.

I can't bear to leave my condo, not for two weeks at least. Master makes me go to the guild and makes me take a job. He only has to make me a few times till I start doing things that I need to do. No one is very happy while Lucy is gone. I know we're still together but it feels like she decided to take a years break because of me. There are days I literally cannot will myself to go into the guild. The while Lucy is gone I pay her rent so that she doesn't need to worry about getting it all paid up later on, I also go and clean it on Sundays. After a year of waiting she is still not back. I start to get more depressed after every passing day. I spend almost all my time at her place recently, just to breathe her in.

Lucy P.O.V.

I never thought I would miss Laxus and the guild as much as I did while I was gone. There were nights I had to cry myself to sleep. There was on night that I got a picture of me and Laxus together, I always had that with me. I used the pain of missing my friends as motivation to train harder. They are the reason I did this and I will not go home till I can protect them. I call on my spirits to guide me in training and Virgo help teach me better ways of hand to hand combat. I travel while training and see everywhere. When it's been a year I start heading back to magnolia. I was so excited to see the guild, but especially Laxus. I sent Gramps letters of how I was doing every month. He never sent anything back, or maybe he was going to but knew I wouldn't be there to receive the letter. I tell him I'm going to come back into town a month later than I had planned, traveling took longer than I thought, especially when on foot. When I get back I can't wait to get back to the guild, but it was already late and no one I wanted to see would be there. I go to the public showers and get all cleaned up. When I leave I feel so much better. I go straight to the forest and find a good place to sleep. I wake up as soon as the sun rises. I go to the guild after I change into a sleeveless green shirt and dark gray shirt. I bought this in crocus the second time I was there. When I decide I look okay I build up the courage and go to Fairy tail. When I go in I go in where no one will see me, thankfully no one does.

"Wait I smell Lucy!" Natsu yells. I hurry until I am completely out of view. I hear everyone stop talking and Laxus mutters.

"She's not here. Natsu she might not even come back."

"How could you say that? Don't you miss her. No one can say they have been the least bit happy since Lucy has gone."

"Yeah you think it's any better for me? She was supposed to be here a month ago." I hear Laxus's voice break. "I smelt her too but that could be a trick. I think I'm going to take a job." I run into Gramps office. He is sitting at his desk and only looks up when I come in.

"L-Lucy, your home." I race toward him and Gramps holds me in a hug. "We need to tell the guild you are here now."

"Yeah, I wanted to see you first." Gramps turns and walks out to the guild hall.

"I'm going to take this job old man, Lucy's rent will be due any day now."

"Wait a minute before you go Laxus, someone is here to say hi to you all. After over a year's worth of hard work and training Lucy has returned." I walk out from behind the wall. Everyone starts yelling and cheering. I sprint down the stairs and Laxus stands frozen where he was. I run and Laxus picks me up in a bone crushing hug.

"I missed you." I cry into his shoulder, Laxus holds me tighter to him.

"I missed you more." After Laxus puts me down everyone else comes and tackle me in a hug.

"This calls for a party!" Master yells from the top of the stairs. Everyone starts cheering and yelling. Cana drinks more than usual tonight than any other night. Wendy and Gray hardly let me go. Laxus hardly let go of my hand and I never left from beside him. I told him and Gramps how the trip was.

"I feel so much more powerful. I trained in every terrain and did everything I could."

"Oh yeah fine then. Erza, come here. Will you fight Lucy really quick?"

"Sure master."

"Let's see how you have improved Lucy. Everyone here has been bums since u were gone." I get up and I hit Erza with my worst spell. She falls back as soon as it hits her.

"Impressive, now keep going. Lucy I want you to hit her with one of your better spells.

"Master, I can't, that was my weakest spell. I don't want to hurt her." Everyone just stares at me.

"Are you kidding, that was a weak spell?" Gray says completely unconvinced.

"Yes, I'll show you a regular one, but I refuse to use it on anyone." We walk out and I aim the spell at a tree. It takes the entire tree from the root up.

"And you said that was a regular spell?" Wendy says, her mouth was wide open. Wendy has grown taller and she looked so pretty, and I noticed she blushed almost every time mest looked at her, and when he walked over she was blushing like crazy, but not as much as it used to be.

"Does anyone have any objections to Lucy being S class?" Master asks everyone. Everyone shakes their head no, everyone but Natsu.

"Wait, I'm stronger than her still!" Natsu calls, everyone kinda chuckles. He comes up and faces me.

"You go first." I say to him. Natsu starts with a fire dragon punch. I deflect it with ease. I could see the sheer surprise in his face as soon as I did. He starts attacking with harder spells and the only one that moved me even a little but was his fire dragon roar. I decided to be nice and take that head on for him. I only moved my arms in front of my face. He only burnt my skirt a little bit.

"Is it my turn?" I ask Natsu, he looks at me with wide eyes.

"I could move Gildarts when I fought him, why can't I move you?"

"I got stronger. You will have to deal with not being stronger than me now." I give him the same spell as I did to Erza. He goes flying backward.

"Lucy you are now out S class wizard." The party goes on all night and I fall asleep in the guild in Laxus arms and Gray and Wendy close by. When I wake up I go and check the board for a job to take. I was the only one up and didn't want to wake someone up. As I look over Wendy is laying on Meats chest and is sound asleep. Gray and Juvia are holding each other. Gray is smiling at Juvia and Juvia probably won't stop smiling for who knows how long. I know I just got back but the guild was almost like it was before we all came back from tenrou island. I look at the S class board for the first time where I can take the job alone. I see the reward in 10,000,000 jewel and a gold celestial key. It doesn't say what one it is but I know it is Aquarius's. I decided to take the job and leave tomorrow. Laxus walks up to me as I read the flier.

"Are you going to take it?"

"Yes, I have too, Aquarius's key is there. I'll leave tomorrow."

"We could take the job together. I understand if you don't want to but you just got back from training and I really want to see you and be a team again-" I shut Laxus up with kissing him.

"If you want to come then I'd be more than happy for you to be there with me, but I can take hits so don't try and save me because I can't take you being hurt." I kiss Laxus again. "We can use the day for the two of us as well."

"That would be great." The guild was starting to wake up now and everyone was doing what they usually do, sleep, eat and look at jobs.

"Have you guys been taking many jobs?"

"No one has wanted too. Gramps makes half of us go and do something around here. He had to force me to do something after you left. I missed you so much, I don't think I could stand not being by you ever again."

"I won't leave like that again, not unless I really need too." Laxus walks me back to my apartment after I tell Gramps I'll take the job. When we get there I fall asleep right as I lay down. My bed felt so soft and I couldn't help it. When I wake up it was dark outside. It was so quiet in my apartment. I get up and take a shower. I take forever. When I get out I have to pack a bag for my next trip, but more importantly I needed to eat something. I wander in the kitchen and make me something to eat. I never thought I would be as hungry as I was. When I'm done I write about while I was gone. I was too saddened to really enjoy the trip. I decided I was going to make the trip again, but it needed to be alone. As much as I love Laxus I really needed the break.
