I

"Reality doesn't impress me. I only believe in intoxication, in ecstasy, and when ordinary life shackles me, I escape, one way or another. No more walls." Anaïs Nin

"Literally everything about this is illegal."

I waved my hand in a dismissive manner, not even fully comprehending his words because I was too focused on getting over the fence, "It's totally fine. I've never been caught before."

Aris looked unconvinced but climbed after me anyways. Even though he was quite a muscular guy, he was struggling to hold himself up. He dislocated his shoulder a few months ago and was still recovering. Thinking about it, this might've not been our smartest move.

Oh well.

My feet slipped and I yelped, almost kicking Aris in the face since he was right behind me. His reflections were quick, his right hand shooting out to steady my feet on one of the bars. I gave him a small grin as I looked down and he chuckled, shaking his head.

"There's a big chance you just jinxed yourself, you know." He responded, referring at my reassurance, firmly grabbing onto the metal pipe to stabilize himself. "If we do get caught, you owe me big time."

I glanced back at him and smirked, adrenaline rushing through me. "We won't, trust me."

As I jumped down, my heart hammered out of my chest and my hands tingled from excitement. The fence was quite high and for a second or two it felt like I was flying.

I skillfully landed on the ground, bending my knees while doing so. Aris had taught me how to land properly after I'd injured myself over and over again, and luckily, I was a quick learner.

"Is it possible to get high on freedom?" I breathed, "I swear it feels like I can only live my life when I'm getting away from my family."

Aris rolled his eyes, silently following me. "I'm sure it's not that bad, Kota."

I didn't expect him to understand since his parents were the most caring people I'd ever met, but it was still a disappointment that he was never able to see things from my perspective.

I ignored my thoughts and focused on what we were currently doing, which was trespassing the biggest theme park in the small radius of our houses.

The few lights that were actually working lit up just enough for us to see where we were going, and when I saw the flashlight of a security guard in the distance I quickly pulled Aris to the side .

I had to admit it was pretty daring to break into the park while there was security roaming around, but I was willing to take the risk. Call me weird, but it also gave me some kind of rush knowing we could get arrested.
