Sans' POV

He laid there with her waiting for her to wake up. Sans thought about how scared Papyrus had been. Had he really been that threatening? And Undyne, she had tried to help him. While Sans had been surprised by this, what had shocked him was that Papyrus had called out to her. He knew his brother felt nothing in regards of a romantic relationship with her. That was Alphys. Sans wondered why Papyrus had been worried when he had knocked her out. Sans remembered hearing her bones break. Was that why? Had Papyrus been worried he'd killed her? He wasn't sure. Sans sighed and gently pulled (Y/N) closer to him. His protective instincts had kicked into overdrive after Papyrus had tried to kill her and take her soul. Sans still grew hot with rage at the thought. Every time he did though he'd hear her words repeat in his head. "He's your brother! You won't like what happens next if you kill him." Sans frowned. He did care about Papyrus, but his feelings for his younger brother weren't as strong as they used to be. (Y/N) outmatched him by ten fold now. Ever since Sans had been treated like trash by his younger, but taller brother, he'd slowly stopped caring what trouble he'd get himself into. He remembered telling Grillby about it when they used to be, at the very least, acquaintances. "if he wants to act like he never needed me, is more powerful than King Asgore, and should be treated like royalty, then fine! let him! he doesn't care about me, so i'm not gonna care about him!" Sans had growled angrily. Grillby had told him, "Well, most families in the Underground are split up. Why don't you do the same?" Sans had sighed and replied, "because he forces me to work for him and he'll know if i try to get away from him. Alphys with her stupid camera's will rat me out to him." Sans frowned at the memory. For the first time in years, he missed his brother. For the first time ever since they were nearly babies, he wished they could be actual brothers again. Then there was a knock at the door. Sans turned his head.

"what?" He called, some what hostile.

"Papyrus wants to talk to you, but was to nervous to come and ask ya himself." Undyne called through the door.

"i don't trust you. for all i know you'll try to kill her again." Sans hissed.

"You think he'll try that again? At least, while you're around?" Undyne said. Sans growled and got up. He instantly felt the warmth of her body fade from his side. He frowned. He sighed. Sans walked out and glared up at Undyne. Papyrus was bend her.

"what?" He asked.

"U-UNDYNE?"

"Yeah, I'm going." She said and went downstairs and into the kitchen. Sans glared at Papyrus.

"S-SANS W-WHY DID YOU WANT TO PROTECT HER?" He asked. Sans rolled his eyes.

"because she's showed me there's more to life than killing. she's been through a lot. she doesn't deserve any punishment." Sans said still glaring at him. Papyrus looked nervous.

"SANS...DO YOU CARE FOR HER?" He asked.

"more than i should, but that doesn't matter to anyone. call me weak. do whatever you want, but don't touch her." Papyrus looked scared, but he nodded. "that all?" Sans asked.

"S-SORRY." Papyrus said. Sans was surprised. "I-I GUESS MAYBE IT'D BE BETTER TO LET HER LIVE. SHE ISN'T A THREAT AFTER ALL." Papyrus said. Sans nodded. "I'M SORRY FOR HURTING SOMEONE YOU CARE ABOUT." Papyrus said. Sans flinched.

"heh..." He chuckled. "i guess we can all learn from a human right?" Papyrus smiled.

"R-RIGHT!" Sans watched him leave and closed the door again. He walked back to (Y/N). Sans heard a muffled sob. He stopped.

"kid?" He questioned. Was she awake? He wasn't sure. Sans came closer. She was crying in her sleep. He gasped. "k-kiddo?!" She didn't wake up. Tears rolled down her cheeks. Sans picked her up and held her close. She seemed to be trying to break free of his grip. she thinks that i'm a threat! He realized. "sh-shh.... k-kid...it's me. it's Sans. p-please calm down kid." Sans heart twisted with sorrow as she cowered in his arms. He couldn't help but get emotional at the sight. "(Y-Y/N)...please....wake up...." He said staring at her worriedly. She didn't. She continued to wriggle in fear. His eyes went black. "i-i...i let this happen to you...i-*sniff* k-kid...i'm so s-sorry. p-please kid....wake up. i want to help you...so please! wake up (Y/N)!" He begged.

Your POV

You were running through Snowdin forest. Sans was somewhere behind you.

"you can't hide kid. heheheh. you won't last a second down here. why make this difficult?" His voice said, echoing through the trees. You kept running. You kept seeing that insane grin he'd given Papyrus. How he'd broken Undyne's arm. You remembered how he'd used to look at you. You were scared. You were terrified of everyone in the Underground, except Flowey. You kept running. You hid behind some trees. You heard footsteps. They faded going the other direction. You let out a sigh of relief. "got you." His voice hissed right behind your ear. You screamed as he grabbed you.

"No! Sans please! I don't wanna die! PLEASE SANS!" He had a knife to your throat.

"kid...i wish it didn't have to be like this. i really do, but...the surface is more important to everyone else than your life is to me." He slit your throat. "sorry kiddo." You fell to the ground and everything went black.

"W-why?!" You cried into the darkness.

"wake up (Y/N)!" Your eyes shot open. Tears stained your cheeks. You saw Sans leaning over you. Tears were in the corner of his eyes as if he was about to cry. He smiled relieved, but you felt fear. You started crying again. You became frantic.

"N-no! Get off!" You said, scrambling away. Your heart was pounding and your eyes were as wide as softballs. He looked at you in shock and worry.

"kitten? are you ok? what's wrong?" He asked worriedly. He reached out to you, but you saw a flash of him trying to grab you with an insane grin on his face. You gasped and backed away on the bed. He pulled back a little. "(Y/N)?" You almost didn't hear him. You broke down. You curled up into a ball sobbing in terror.

"P-please, *sob* I wanna g-go home! *sob* Everyone's against me! *sob* I'll die here, I'll die alone! Nobody will know what happened! *sobs*" He looked shocked.

"sweetheart..."

"I don't wanna die...." You cried. Then you felt his arms around you. He held you close.

"i won't let anything happen to you. it's ok sweetheart, i'm here. i'm not gonna hurt ya." He told you softly. You hugged him. You remembered everything he'd done for you. He wasn't your enemy. He was your protector. He shoved your face into his shirt. He flinched. Then he chuckled slightly nervously. "i love you kitten." He told you. You smiled. "I love you too." He gasped. "really?" Sans asked. "Yes. I love you so much." You whimpered, burying your face deeper into his shirt. He pushed you away a little bit. You looked up at him. He kissed you. You kissed back. You both were overwhelmed with affection. Sans kissed you very passionately. You loved it. After a moment he broke it and instantly held you tight in his embrace. You felt safe and warm, but mostly, you felt loved. You'd never felt like this for anyone. He loosened his grip and you pulled back a little. You both locked your eyes together. You blushed. He did too.

"hey kitten? mind if i...ask you something?" He said.

"What?"

"w...would you...l-like to...stay here with me?" Your eyes widened. "we could live together and be happy. i could provide for the both of us. with Pap no longer a threat we can live here together, safely." He said. You smiled. You gave him a tiny kiss on the cheek. "Of course I will." You replied. He smiled happily. "r-really?! i-i thought you wanted to go home?" He said. "I am home. Wherever you call home, is a perfect home for me." You told him. He smiled.

"thanks doll. i...i won't let anyone do anything to you. i promise."
