Michael wasn't typically a secret keeper; in fact most would say that he was an open book. However, he did try to keep one thing secret - the fact that he played ukulele. He picked it up in the seventh grade before he became fairly talented, only to be beaten up for choosing the "gay instrument". Ever since then, he had wanted to keep it hidden from the rest of the world. The rest of the world does not include Jeremy in most situations adjacent to this one, however. Jeremy absolutely adored every note that rang from Michael's navy blue ukulele. He was usually the one who picked out songs for Michael to learn, and if they weren't playing video games, Michael had a private concert just for Jeremy. Today, however, instead of playing a song familiar to Jeremy's ears, Michael started out with;
"I decided to change the pace a little bit here. I actually wrote the next song!" Michael tried to put on an ecstatic facade, but underneath was a very panicked and worried Michael.
"Really?!" I can't wait to hear it! Play away!" Jeremy sat with his hands in his lap, expectantly waiting for Michael to start.
Michael struck an A chord before starting.
"I'm sorry that I'm confessing in a cowardly way
And I'm sorry that there isn't much I have to say
But there is a thing I need to get off my chest
Before I spend another sleepless night without rest
Thinking of the possibilities and all of the things
We've done together, the joy you bring
And your smile that can be seen for miles
There's something I've been meaning to tell you for awhile
There are three words
I
Love
And finally, you
I had bottled up these feelings and
Didn't know what to do
I
Love
Forever and true
Know that I'll be here always
Holding you."
Michael looked up a few seconds after the last chord had rung out only to be met with a flustered and scarlet Jeremy, who had already begun to profusely sweat.
"D-did you mean that?" Jeremy was barely able to stutter out.
"Yeah?" Michael had meant for the statement to sound confident, but it came out as more of a question.
Before either of them were thinking, they had their lips pressed together, before they realized the discomfort of the ukulele between them.
"Uh..." Michael started.
"No! No, I'm sorry I shouldn't of done that."
"Hey, it's fine. It would of been enjoyable if it weren't for my ukulele."
"Wait, did you- like that?"
"Yeah! I mean, kinda." Michael tried to pretend he wasn't as ecstatic as he actually was.
"W-would you mind if I did that again?" Jeremy asked.
"I guess, if you really wanted to." Michael invited him closer.
Needless to say, there were no more songs played that day, only (sloppy) but passionate kisses.
