Prolouge: What's Started It All
Rewritten
I was only a young child when I fled my country. When an evil man wanted my head. He almost got too. My life changed. I guess I should start from the beginning, huh? Well, let me tell you about my life before a psycho wanted me dead.
My mother, Crown princess of China, Sabine met my father a mere baker at a Gala for royalty across the land. She was to choose a husband to rule by her side. Beijing was hosting the party for all the royals. Tom, my father, was at the castle from his home town of Paris. His mother said it was a good opportunity for money.
They served the delicious treats to princesses and princes. Dukes and duchesses. Many more showed their faces. My mother walked up to my father and asked, "What do you recommend?" Tom had a shocked look a royal would talk to him. He was bewildered and stuttered when he spoke.
"Me?" He simply asked. My mother giggled and nodded. Her long raven hair braided over her shoulder. "Yes, you. I am not familiar with these treats. Can you give me something that is good?" She said speaking perfect french. My father smiled and blushed. "All of it is good. Generations of family recipes. I recommend our macaroons." He handed her a small plate with a pink circle of pastry in the center.
Sabine took the treat and took a small bite. She beamed with delight and ate the rest. The two talked the rest of the night. My father was escorted from France to China every weekend by request of my mother. Within the next year they were married. Nine months after I was born. Daughter of the queen and a Parisian baker.
Life was great. From the time I was born to the time I was seven, my parents had two other children. Twins. My younger brother, Marin and my younger sister, Bridgette. When I left they were only four years old.
My parents and I and the twins were taking a stroll in the gardens when a burly man with a bandanna over his face, only his brown eyes shone. His hair was dirty and dark. He killed the guards without a second thought and took me by the wrist. His blade against my throat. "Mama! Papa!" I yelled in hopes of more guards to appear. "Tsk tsk. Your parents can't help you, Princess Marinette." My mother had tears brining her eyes and my father had his hands fisted.
"Let our daughter go!" My father yelled. The twins were crying at my mother heals. "I will do not such thing! You took my happiness! In return I take the kingdoms princess and your first-born." His blade dug deeper in my skin. I could feel the blood trickle down my neck and down my dress. I heard a buzzing in my ears as I saw a man in a green suit throw a disc through the air knocking the blade away.
"Gaw! Miraculous holder!" The masked figure came into view. He dressed like a turtle with a wish shield the shape of a shell. "You will no longer harm the royal family. This little girl has done nothing to you." The man ran away. He yelled in the distance, "I have marked you, Princess." He had spoken. "I will be back when your guardian is gone."
After making sure I was okay my mother turned towards the hero. "Thank you! So much, for saving young Mari." The man grinned. His gotie showed. "I protect people in harm's way." He hesitated for a moment. "But, he will be back. I recommend you send your daughter into protection." My father picked up Marin and positioned him on his hip. "Where would we send her? My mother and father are dead. I have no family." The man thought for a moment. "I live in Paris. If your willing, I can take in the young princess and teach her ways to defend herself." He spoke calmly.
My parents had a silent discussion and looked at me with worried eyes. "I will do it." I spoke at last. My mother rested a hand on my shoulder. "Are you sure, my Bluebell?" I nodded smiling to reassure them. "I will come back when I am ready and take the throne. I will train to defend myself." The man nodded with a smile. "Then it's settled." He crossed his arms. "Marinette will come with me."

hen I was finished packing I met my parents and siblings along with the man, who's name we learned was Wang Fu. He was a Miraculous holder. The turtle miraculous to be exact. I was told by my grandmother about the ancient miraculous' that would be wielded by a man or woman to protect civilians.
I hugged my mom and dad. "Be strong little one." I nodded and hugged the twins. "I love you two trouble makers." The laughed and kissed my cheek. I followed Fu out of the castle onto the hellie pad near the entrance. A private jet sat their waiting to go. Let's go, Marinette. We should be in Paris by sunrise."
The trip was easy. I watched the clouds roll by along with the night stars. Wang slept in the seat across from me. I thought about how I was doing this for my family and my kingdom.
Sunrise came and the view of the Effile tower, all lit up, sprang from behind the clouds. "Wow." I said in shock. "Paris is rather beautiful." I nodded in agreement. When we landed Wang and I walked into a taxi and got dripped off in front of a Chinese looking building. I smiled at the familiar architecture. "Come. This is my home and work." I followed him inside.
The front was a waiting room for Fu's patients. He was a healer. His office was to the left in a different room, while stairs lead to his home. He showed me the kitchen, dining room, living room, and my bedroom. Which had a bathroom connected to it. "This will be your room. We can change it to your liking." I thanked him and sat on the makeshift bed.
As the years passed I lived and trained with Master Fu. I also helped him out in the office. I would help him and soon taking up my own patients. I went school under the bane of Marinette Dupain-Fu. My father's surname and Wang's name. I told people I was his granddaughter. Taken in after my mother and father died in a car wreck.
Shortly after my tenth birthday Master Fu gave me the Ladybug earrings. He told me I was ready to wield the power. Tikki and I became inseparable. I trained in self-defense and learned to use the power of my miraculous.
Today I am sixteen years old. I live in Paris and go to regular high school. I live with my grandfather Fu and help him out with his family work. My name is Marinette Dupain-Cheng. The Princess of China.
