Chapter 13 Wedding Night

The hoard of guests quickly head to their respective tables and take their seats to watch the toasts.

Emmet is going first, he's already on stage with a wicked smirk on his face.

"I'd like to propose a toast, to my new sister," he starts and I grin. Maybe it won't be so bad. "Bella I hope you've got enough sleep these last eighteen years, cause you won't be getting anymore for a while." Emmet laughs and I frown along with Charlie while the other guests stare awkwardly.

Luckily Alula and Abigail begin cackling to break the tension and the other guests follow in suit except Charlie.

"It's all in good fun dad," I assure but he isn't convinced.

Emmet holds up his glass and chugs it all down in one go. Dad scowls but before he can say or do anything about the underage drinking I turn to him with swirling green eyes.

"It's all in good fun dad," I say this time with hypnotic charm.

"All in good fun," he agrees and chuckles. With that I turn to Emmet and mouth "you owe me."

"Who's next?" Emmet asks after winning at me and Jessica stands up.

"Oh this'll be good," Alice murmurs only loud enough for those with enhanced hearing to pick up.

Jessica clambers on stage and takes the microphone from Emmet.

"Well Bella was just like everybody else, totally mesmerized by Edward, or the hair, as I call him," she begins with a nervous laugh. "Um...and then suddenly, Edward is all about Bella. Even though she's not the captain of the volleyball team." She laughs but it's forced. "I'm just kidding. I'm just kidding. Or the president of the Student Council."

Politely I laugh out loud and the other guests join in.

"Ever the peacemaker," Jasper teases.

"Now for me!"

Surprisingly it's Allie who's hopping up and making her way to the stage. While she walks I quietly get up and slink over to Jade and Rosalie.

"So Scarlet doesn't have anxiety?" I murmur.

"Allie has a new mentality of handling things," Jade starts.

"She figures that the worst things that could happen to her have happened, so what else is there to fear," Rosalie explains and I nod.

Allie is on stage now, clutching the mic and smiling. Her hands still shake with anxiety but she holds steady.

"Edward and I only recently found each other so I haven't had much of a chance to get to know him or his family." Allie pauses and inhales deeply. "But I do know a few things. One: Edward is one of the sweetest guys I have ever met. He is so kind to me, he indulges my odd wishes, being a groomsmen for example." The crowd laughs and Allie grins. "Two: if not for my newfound family I doubt I would be able to stay strong in the thought times I've been having so for that I am eternally grateful. And three: Isabella Swan never fails to make every member of this family smile on a daily basis with the light she shares. Her and Edward are truly deserving of each other and I wish them all the best."
