It's the next day, and Izuku wakes up slowly making his way out of bed. As he gets up he suddenly remembers his plans for today and his stomach starts to tie up in knots. He was no doubt incredibly nervous but at the same time he still couldn't help to feel a small twang of excitement. His mind was still a little clouded as to what Katsuki's reasoning may be again, but from what could be explained he was determined to try and make this work out some way. Even though he knew it would definitely be awkward at first. Thinking that only made him a anxious all over again though, as he made his way to the bathroom to start getting ready. Once he finishes and exits the bathroom, Inko starts to make her way towards him from her room.
"Good morning honey." Inko greeted happily.
"Morning mom." Izuku responded still a little groggy from sleep and on edge nerves.
"Hey Izuku wanna see the outfit I bought for you yesterday." She said noticing Izuku's demeanor, and trying to pep him up while also being excited herself.
"Oh sure, I never did get a chance to see it yesterday." He said temporarily snapping out of his previous state.
With that said they both start to make their way to Inko's room, and once they're in she heads towards her closet and pulls out a shopping bag.
"I got the cutest and most comfortable clothes for you, you're going to love them." She said excitedly as she puts the bag on the floor in front of her, and reaches into it pulling out the first article of clothing.
"TA DA!" She says holding up a green hoodie. It looked comfortable, and slightly puffed on the hood and sleeves.
"Go ahead try it on!" She said practically bouncing and shoving the hoodie towards Izuku.
"Ok ok " Izuku said smirking at her excitement. He took the hoodie and slowly put it on, prying his head through the neck hole as it seemed to be a bit of a tight squeeze. Once he has it on he finally understands why it looked so puffy in the first place, it was because the hoodie seemed to be a little too big for him since the sleeves covered his hands slightly and the hem went an inch below his waist.
"Um, mom did you check the size of this?" He asks as he lifts a up his sleeves to show how long they are.
"Oh don't worry about that it's supposed to be comfy and cute, the few extra inches just adds to it." She said while admiring the how Izuku looks so far.
"I don't know...." He was a little nervous of how it might look, but seeing his mom's face he figured it couldn't look that bad.
"Cmon Izuku you look adorable trust me."
That's what made him nervous. Adorable was never really a look he aimed for, especially in front of Katsuki. He didn't want Katsuki to belittle him more than he already does. However he could admit that he didn't look horrible, and his mom did have a pretty confident look on her face. So he figured he'd just bare with it. That's when he noticed her start to pull out another article of clothing from the bag.
"I also got you these." She the holds up a pair of cargo shorts with many pockets. The bottoms of the pants seemed to be rolled up and fastened to each side of the shorts.
"It's been hot out lately so I thought a nice pair of shorts would do you some good, try them on." She says as she hands the shorts to Izuku. Once Izuku takes them he starts to remove his pajama shorts as Inko instinctively looks away. As he finally puts them on he takes a quick moment to examine them, and notices how actually fashionable they are.
"Hm I actually like them."
"Of course you do I picked them out. Now take a quick look in the mirror." Inko said excitedly as she gestured towards the mirror on her closet door. Izuku then steps in front of it, and is not disappointed. Sure the hoodie still looked a little big but he could agree that it was comfortable. So overall he liked the outfit, he just hoped Katsuki wouldn't be too perturbed about it.
"It looks good, I like it, thank you for buying it." He says turning to Inko with appreciation on his face.
"Oh of course sweetheart." She says going in for a quick hug. "I only want you looking the best for your little date."
"D-DATE??" Izuku exclaims with a small blush.
"Outing, outing, I meant outing. Hehehe sorry." She says quickly apologizing.
"I-It's ok." Izuku responds. He doesn't know why but the word date resonates in his head. He couldn't figure out why the idea of that made his heart beat out of his chest. He didn't want to spend much time trying, so he just decided to forget it. If he even could.
"Ok, you have to actually get ready in a few hours so let's go have breakfast." Inko said enthusiastically, interrupting Izuku's thoughts.
"Alright." Responded Izuku, as he slipped out of his new clothes and they both made their way to the kitchen. While Izuku was still trying to calm his nerves about his upcoming 'outing'
Katsuki just finished eating breakfast at his house, and quickly made his way upstairs. When he entered his room he started to madly ruffle through his closet trying to find a decent outfit combination.
"UGH, I CANT F*CKING FIND ANYTHING!" He yelled
That's when Mitsuki comes in leaning on the door, knocking on it to grab his attention. "What's going on here?"
"Nothin' I just can't find a sh*tty outfit!" He said in frustration.
"I thought you didn't care." Said Mitsuki.
"I f*ckin' don't but I'm not about to look like a f*ckin bum." He replied angrily.
"Ok ok how about this." She says as she saunters over to the closet while playfully bumping Katsuki out of the way.
"Your where these gray striped capris, your gray shirt, red flannel, and your combat boots." She tosses all these items to Katsuki while he almost stumbles over to retrieve them all.
"Tck, like this will look like anything."
"It will, I have a great fashion taste." She say confidently. Katsuki just chuckles at her in response.
"Just get ready! You only have a few hours."
"I f*ckin know that already geez." He says as he stomps his way to the bathroom.
"Just don't take forever." She shouts at him.
"Who say I will!" He yells back slamming the door behind him. Mitsuki chuckles fondly at him and makes her way downstairs.
It's now about a couple more minutes before Izuku and Katsuki are supposed to meet.
Izuku was finishing up putting on his outfit, he slipped on his usual shoes, grabbed his bag, and made his way downstairs.
"Oh honey you look great!" Inko exclaimed.
"Hehe you really think so?" Izuku replied with a small blush.
"I know so, there's just one little adjustment I want to make." She as as she reaches for Izuku's hair. She pulls the left sides of his bangs back and fastens them with two intersecting clips.
"There perfect! Oh you look so cute!" Inko said lovingly.
"Heh yeah..." Izuku once again starts to wonder of what Katsuki will think of how he looks. Of course he doesn't expect him to like it, but would he hate it? Would he think that it makes him look girly or small? As these thoughts ran through his head he starts to question this whole thing. He still didn't know what they were going to do. Could he possibly be putting in all this effort for nothing.
"Izuku what's wrong?" Inko asks concerned.
"Oh, i-it's nothing." Izuku replied. But Inko completely understood what was up. So she tried to reassure him by putting his hands in hers.
"Izuku you're going to have a great time, I know you will. I may not be sure of what you're doing as much as you, but I know it's going to be alright. And you look great I promise, please don't be nervous honey. Your going to be fine, and your going to have fun." She says calmly and lovingly with a warm smile.
After hearing this, Izuku heeds his mom's words and relaxes. "Hah, your right. Thanks mom." He then goes in for a hug.
"Of course honey." She says returning the hug.
"Now Katsuki should be here in a couple minutes, let's go wait." She says as they both walk towards the door.
Back at Katsuki's place, Katsuki is scrambling as he finishes getting ready.
"Katsuki your going to be late, get down here!" Mitsuki yells from downstairs.
"I'm f*cking coming!" Katsuki yells back as he bursts out his room, and runs downstairs grabbing all his essentials and shoving them in his pockets.
"Katsuki hold on a sec!" Mitsuki says from behind him.
"What!" Katsuki says whipping around quickly.
Mitsuki grabs his shoulders and pulls him close to her. "I just want to say, make sure you have a little fun. And even if your forcing yourself to do this try not to show him a horrible time."
"Tck, I already told you I don't care about this. That nerds gonna get the f*ckin time I give him." Katsuki replies bitterly.
"Sure Katsuki I just want you to enjoy yourself ok?" She says with a small sigh.
"Pssh whatever."
"Oh and also one more thing." She then pulls Katsuki in for a hug. Katsuki flinches at first but then warms into it, that when Mitsuki starts to squeeze him harder.
"Ugh dammit your crushing me!"
"That's just all my love!" She says finally releasing him.
"Hey, knock em dead." She says as Katsuki starts to make his way out of the door.
"Heh, I just might." Katsuki says with a smirk and chuckle, as he waves and leaves out.
Inko and Izuku were waiting on their porch for Katsuki. Izuku was still a little on edge so he was trying to pace his breath, seeing this Inko placed her hand on his shoulder.
"Hey, your gonna be fine. Just remember to relax and have fun." She said calmly.
Izuku takes one more deep breath and responds. "Ok."
Just then Katsuki was making his way down the sidewalk, and when was approaching his house he made it known.
"HEY DEKU! You better be re-" Katsuki immediately cut himself off as soon as he saw Inko and more or less seeing how Izuku was dressed. They stayed silent for a moment until Inko spoke up.
"Hello Katsuki, it's so nice to see you again." Inko said with a smile.
"U-Um hello Mrs. Midoriya."
Katsuki's sudden formality shocked Izuku. Its been a while since he heard Katsuki speak so politely. He guessed it was just his way of being respectful, especially to someone he hasn't seen in a while.
"You look very nice today. Oh, and I love your boots." Said Inko.
"T-Thank you." Katsuki stuttered out.
"I assume your mom picked them out, she always had a good fashion sense. How has she been lately." Inko asked curiously.
"She's been fine, thank you." Katsuki responds.
After a moment of small talk, Inko decided to add Izuku in.
"What about you Izuku, don't you think Katsuki looks nice?"
"Oh um yeah, you look really nice Kacchan." Izuku said shyly.
Katsuki didn't know why, but the shy compliment brought a short heat to his face. He decided to quickly hide it by looking down slightly before he responded.
"Thanks." He said quietly.
"And Katsuki how do you think Izuku looks?" Asked Inko again.
F*cking girly and small would have been his automatic answer. Until he saw that Inko was with him, and he actually got a good look at him. He may have looked small because of the oversized hoodie, but the color brought out his eyes and hair. Which he also noticed was pulled back on one side, he thought it was ok that he was finally wearing it differently. Then he quickly eyed his shorts, which he could admit fit him pretty well. But he internally scoffed when he saw his same old shoes, but overall he guessed the outfit didn't look horrible. It complimented a lot of his basic features, while still showing off the rest of him. Plus he was starting to get used to how small it made him look, in fact if he didn't know him, he might actually think he looked a little cute. But he immediately shook that idea out of his mind, cursing himself for letting it pop into his head for even a second. He also blamed his mom for his unconscious fashion observations. So after finally snapping out of it he responded.
"Uh h-he looks fine."
Izuku was honestly content with this answer. Not expecting anymore, in fact he kinda expected less.
"Hm glad to hear it. Well you two should be on your way to the..." She paused and looked at Katsuki to indicate that she wanted him to finish the sentence.
"Oh um, to the mall." Finished Katsuki.
Izuku was surprised to hear this. Was Katsuki actually going to treat him to something?
I mean, it was what he hoped for but was never actually certain of.
"Ooooh, that sounds like fun. You two should really visit the cafes there, I hear their treats are delicious." She said excitedly.
"Uh yeah I was planing to, my mom suggested it."
This was another surprise for Izuku, that also caused him to have a small blush. He really wasn't expecting any of this.
"Awe, that's great. Your mother always had good tastes, but that's enough talking." She says as she puts her hands on both their backs. She then pushes you then off the porch and leads them to the sidewalk.
"You two better get going, wouldn't want to make you miss your little date."
"M-MOM!" Izuku said shocked, with a sudden blush forming on his face.
"OH, I'm sorry, I'm sorry, I meant outing!" she said quickly and apologetically.
'You're damn straight' is what Katsuki was thinking, feeling irritated. This was anything but a date, to him that wasn't even the last thing in his list to call this. So far annoying and draining was at the top though. He felt practically insulted, but the stream of heat that started to rise wouldn't drain from his face which only made him feel more irritated. After Izuku finally smoothed that moment over with his mom, she finally sent them both on their way. Saying their 'byes' a small 'love you' and good wishes for their day. They then started to make their way down the street and headed towards the mall.
"Bye, have fun you two." She yelled, waving one last time as they waved back and continued to go on their way.
Inko was then standing there alone for a moment, wishing the best for them until she heard a familiar voice.
"They're cute aren't they." Inko then turns around to see Mitsuki heading down the sidewalk. She must have followed Katsuki to see him meet up with Izuku.
"Mitsuki! How are you?!" She says excitedly, walking towards her and going in for a hug.
Mitsuki hugs back and replies. "I've been great! How about you?"
"Fantastic, especially now." She replies back.
"I know, it so nice to see our boys hang out again." Mitsuki says contently.
"It really is, I just hope they have a good time. Izuku's been so nervous." Inko says with a bit of concern in her voice.
"Yeah, me too." Mitsuki says back with the same tone.
"You know it was really nice of Katsuki to do this." Inko says with a calm tone and a sigh.
"Yeah it really was." Said Mitsuki. Even though she knew Katsuki's true intentions, she felt deep down that he was going to have a good time one way or another.
"Hehe, you really think they're gonna have a nice time. They haven't hung out in so long and...." Inko said this and paused starting to feel a little worried.
Mitsuki noticed this, and took her hand and gave it a reassuring squeeze before answering.
"Trust me Inko, they're gonna be just fine."
"Maybe even better than we think." She confidently thought as she smiled to herself.
