I was lying in bed at Stark tower, my eyes half lidded as I made a ball of fire. I spun it quicker, the heat flickering across my arm and face. I took a deep breath, the amazing smell of fire engulfing my nose. I heard a click before the fire disappeared, my eyes snapping closed and my breathing evening out.
I peeked open my eye a crack to see Bucky standing there. I sighed before opening my eyes again. He was the only one in the tower that knew about my power. "What time is it?" I mumbled softly. He looked terrible, deep bags under his eyes and his shoulder slumped.
He pointed to my bedside clock. 12:22 AM
I groaned harshly before I sat up, my legs dangling over the side of the bed. I stood up and my arm was engulfed in flames. "What're you doing up? You're usually asleep right now," I mumbled, the fire cast a soft glow across his face.
"Your damned sister has been bothering everyone, not wanting to come to you for some reason," He mumbled harshly. I sighed, closing my eyes before opening them again.
"Take me to her!" I grunted. He led me off, going through hallways before stopping in the living room. Everyone was there, sitting on either the couch or a stool or something they found.
"You got her!" Tony cried out.
"What's this?" I mumbled.
"We wanted to take a break, have some fun! But we wanted you to join us!" Tony said in a half-whisper.
"Please tell me you won't get drunk and try to hit on me again?" I grunted, causing a few of the Avengers to either snicker or try and hide their laughter.
He opened and closed his mouth a few times. "I did not!"
"Did to," I mumbled. I plopped down next to Steve, Bucky sitting on the right of me.
After a while of laughter I finally woke up a bit. After a while, we got into the topic of who we thought were 'worthy' of Thor's hammer.
"How about we see if we actually are worthy!" Tony cried.
"Alright!" Thor said, placing Mjolnir on the table, everyone going before they looked to me.
"Come on! Let's see if you're worthy!" Tony said.
The elevator dinged, revealing a disheveled looking Pebble clutching her teddy bear. I sighed and stood up, walking over to her and entering the elevator.
"Sorry, maybe some other time!" I chuckled.
The elevator dinged onto our floor, I took the young child to her room.
"Here," I said, tucking her in. I sat beside her, slowly rubbing her leg with my thumb over the blanket. I watched as she quickly fell asleep. I stood up. "Jarvis?" I asked.
"Yes, Miss?" He responded in his monotone voice.
"If she wakes up do anything to get her to sleep," I murmured in response.
"Of course, Miss," He responded. I disappeared and crawled into my bed.
3:17 AM The clock said.
I fell asleep quickly.
~ Time skip
Tony had stopped in front of our house, hugging me and Pebble goodbye. "Talk to ya later, Oldie!" I laughed. He chuckled before driving off.
I grabbed Pebbles' stuff, bringing it in along with mine. Tomorrow, Monday, was the first day of summer break, so no more school until September! I was secretly sad, as I would miss my teachers, but... eh, who cares.
I sighed as I plopped onto my bed, my eyes closing softly as a deep sleep engulfed me.
2:21 AM
I opened my eyes as a loud crash filled my ears. I groggily sat up, placing my feet on the hardwood floor as I quickly walked downstairs, I opened my eyes more as I saw a few people holding my mother down.
"Where the hell is the girl?" One of them roared, she whimpered.
"Who's there?" I heard the muffled voice of my uncle, probably still on the phone. The group growled before hanging the phone up, or smashed it. I went wide-eyed, my face growing pale.
"There she is!" One of them growled harshly, shining a bright light in my face. My eyes grew wider if possible, soon narrowing. My mother shook her head so violently I thought it would come off of her neck.
A man kicked her in the face, and that was it. My eyes flared up, fire engulfing my arms before I shot it into their faces, speeding quickly towards them to leave burn marks on them.
"Son of a b-" I slammed my flaming hand into his mouth, soon burning off his tongue and feeling the blood bubbling. The fire cauterized it, far too late for him. He collapsed dead.
I looked up, my hair covering my face as I glared at them. I felt the fire slowly inch up my arms, soon to engulf the entirety of my arms. I felt a sizzling heat engulf me, my fire going out before I could realize what they did. I collapsed down, my body still sizzling heat.
I watched the final men hold up a gun towards my mother.
