Loving like the Sunshine

I just got this idea-  And wanted to get out there and share it with you. It is set after the Originals 4x13.

Flashback

Elena got out of the plane and passing through the security and through to arrivals, she went into a hug with her friend Bonnie.

"It so good to see you"- Elena said-"I have missed you"

"How are you doing?"- Bonnie said.

"Better. It was tough, but - I made through it."

"I am sorry I could not be there."- Bonnie said.

"Hey- it's ok. You just had a baby, and I had Caroline, together we were each other's rock."

"Hey"- Bonnie said to Elena-"you seemed to be miles away?"

"Do you know that today is exactly ten years since I got here. It just amazes me how  fast it went. "- Elena said.

"Can we not talk about time. I hate how suddenly it  passes by so quickly. Ok. I got to run now, I have to pick up Yana from the school, see you tomorrow."- Bonnie got up and after giving her friend a semi-hug, the witch left.

Elena took a sip of the coffee and wrote Caroline a reply to a message she had received earlier-

"I will send you the photographs of the new house later. I've got a day off and I am going out tonight. Later"

She then looked at the clock and then got up as she still had some errands to run before she went out for the night.

Her life had always been messy, epic and very unpredictable. She learned that with all she had been through. And whatever came her way she promised herself that she would face it had on. Life dealt her a lot of sorrow. She had lost all of her family and then her husband. Her heart was  pierced and the pain was profound and one morning months after Damon's funeral, she just packed up a bag and left her home town. To a new adventure.

Now, she got a cab and told the driver to take her to Oliver's.

Soon, she entered the jazz bar and waved a little at the man at the piano.

He smiled at her and continued to play -

Elena sat down and looked at the man flashing back in time yet again-

London - Oliver's, a jazz bar, years  back

Elena walked in the bar with Bonnie and a few friends from work.

"They have this new guy that plays, but he wants to remain anonymus, seriously, I am telling you, he is just - amazing!"- Jackie said.

"Can't wait"- Elena said-"ok, I need the bathroom. Can you please get me - I don't know- tequila."

Elena went to look for the bathroom, and passing it by for an unknown reason got into small room that was an office.

"Oh, I am sorry- I - was-"- and then she went quiet as now her eyes locked with the man's and she uttered first-

"Elijah?"

The man now subsequently slipped-

"Elena!"

Was it chance meeting or fate, only universe knows.

Now, the Original stood up from the piano having finished with the practice and went up to the doppelganger. They exchanged a sweet peck.

Without any more words said, they both walked out of the bar arms intertwining setting around the lower back.

"I am a bit hungry"- Elena said-"can we eat first and then go see about the new sofa?"

"Of course, we can"- Elijah said dearly.

"Great. We also need a few more things for the kitchen."- Elena continued-"It won't take long. And then we can go home. Tonight is our night. Just you and me- our time alone."

Elijah smiled at Elena now stopping in the middle of the street kissing her.

Flashback

Years back

"One great thing about the 21st century is that we can be in four different parts of the world and still see and speak with one another"- Rebekah said as she got her brothers to skype at the same time.

They chit-chatted some more about their current things and Hope, of course. Kol was first to get off, and Rebekah the second.

As Elijah was to say goodbye to Klaus, the Hybrid asked-

"How is Elena Gilbert?"

Elijah was quiet for a second and then replied-

"Very well."
The Original knew that it was a matter of time the news of him being together would be out there. There was nothing they were hiding anyway.

"I know that it is none of my business and that the doppelganger and her friends know how to take care of themselves-"-Klaus then said.

Elijah now cut in-"But you are worried about me slipping into my old habits?"

"You gave up Hayley to find your inner peace. And - well, I am a little worried about you. And your history with the doppelgangets is unique"

"I found my inner peace with Elena. Hayley could not see into my soul, she never saw me, with all that I carry, and it was because my soul had already found its mate."

"I am not surprised. Elena is an extraordinary woman"- Klaus said.

"Yes, she is."- Elijah confirmed-"I could share everything that was inside of me and Elena made the monster in me disappear, like sunshine brushes away the darkness. I can't explain. The love I feel for her- what we feel for each other is - like the sunshine. I am happy and I feel good and I haven't felt like like this since - a very long time- you know-"

"Since we were human"- Klaus said.

"Yes. Love can free you from all your demons inside, but you, yourself have to also find the balance. Mother was right. It is all about the balance."

"There were so many things she was right about"- Klaus said.

"Yes"- Elijah said-"remember when she spoke to us about pain- it can root itself so deep and it can lead into hate, and hate leads into suffering."

"And she could not deal with her pain and - yeah- we know the rest"- Klaus said remembering their parents' decision to turn them into these supernatural beings that got terribly lost.

"It is amazing how nature has its way of making things right"- Elijah said.

"It is"- Klaus said and not adding anything anymore,  he bid his brother goodbye.

Elijah dialed Elena's number.

"Hey"- Elena said as she picked up the phone.

"Hey. See you at the bar after your shift?"- Elijah said.

"Yes. I am done in an hour."- Elena replied.

"I love you"- Elijah said.

"Love you, too."- Elena said.

They both hung up the phone. Elena went on to see her patients and Elijah got out of the apartment, taking a cab to the bar he played at.
