Things will never be the same again.

Elena walked to the nurse's hub, now slamming paperwork down on the desk taking a deep breath.

"Everything all right?"- nurse Jackie asked as she came from the side room.
"I had better days"- Elena said.
"Little Finn recovered thanks to you. What's up? It's about that guy?"- Jackie continued seeing Elena lost in her thoughts.
"Guy?"- Elena said looking at the nurse.
"I kind of overheard you talking about someone called Elijah over the phone yesterday in the doctor's lounge when you were getting coffee - sorry - didn't mean to evesdrop"
"Yeah, it is kind of about him, and I don't wanna talk about it."- Elena said now looking at the papers in front of her.
The nurse saw that Elena was not in a good mood and let it be.
Elena now signed some of the papers handing it over to her colleague and friend saying-
"I will see you tomorrow- for Fred's birthday barbecue?!"
"Defo!"- Jackie said.
"Sorry about earlier- I just-"- Elena felt bad for brushing Jackie off the way she did.
"Hey- no worries"- Jackie said-"men trouble excuses everything"
"Still, sorry"- Elena waved at her friend a little and went away.
Her thoughts were plagued with Elijah and the way things were left, as well as the decision she had made to go see him and tell him all about his past. As she changed into her clothes, she sat down tears now falling down her face.
💥Flashback
After Bonnie and Elena left Elijah's apartment
Elena was quiet all the way to her apartment. Bonnie knew her friend very well, and wouldn't leave her on her own.
"Let's get a drink"- Bonnie suggested as they got out of the car.
"I- want to go to bed- you go home. I will be fine. You have your girl and Fred to look after. You were right about everything. I always do these things. I don't know why I went back to look for him. I don't know what is wrong with me. It's like I can't live a normal life, and I have to stir it up-ugh- you were so right"
"Don't beat yourself up Lena- You wanted to do good. I will never get what weird connection you have with him."
