"Is... Is that the only reason we're dating? So you can use me for your stupid Connor Project? Guess what, I quit. Fuck you, Evan." Jared ran out from Evan's room, slamming the door behind him. Evan was sobbing, managing to run after Jared. He knew where he was going, so he was only steps behind him. Loud crying almost echoed in the forest, Evan looking around frantically for his boyfriend. He saw him under their favorite oak tree, and he approached him nervously.

"Did I not make myself clear? Fuck off." Jared choked out, Evan whimpering but stepping closer.

"J-Jared... You're all I have. I didn't mean to say... To say that our relationship only started because of the Connor Project. It sounds so bad now that I hear myself... I meant to say we weren't that close before and now... It brought us together. Fuck, y-you're keeping me alive, Jared." Jared refused to look at Evan, hugging his knees tightly to his chest. Evan fell to the forest floor on his hands and knees, scraping the dirt beneath his fingers angered at himself.

"I just think, would we have even gotten together if it hadn't been for this lie?"

"Well, I-I liked you a lot but I didn't know if you liked me... So... I didn't do anything. Y-You always said we were just family friends..."

"I was scared if I told you I was gay you would've left me completely. I knew you had potential, Ev. You're attractive and smart, you could do so much better than me. I was holding you back, so I tried to... Let you go..." Jared whispered, coming to terms with his mistakes. His finger nails dug into the skin on his legs, leaving small red marks. Evan moved closer to the other boy, holding his hands down so he could do no more harm.

"I don't care about any of that. I just really want to be with the guy I like..." Jared threw himself back into Evan's arms, hugging him tightly as he continued to sob loudly. Evan hugged him back tighter, both boys tears falling on the other and down to the dirt on the ground.

"W-We can make this work. I'm not ashamed to be around you, hell, I'm proud to be dating you. B-But... Let's pretend what came before won't count or matter... Can we try that? Just... I don't want our relationship just to be about the Connor Project."

"It can be u-us... Only us. I really do like- I love you, Jared." Evan said, flustering and blushing bright pink.

"You asshole... I wanted to be the one to say I love you first. I fucking love you." Jared said smiling, the last of his tears falling quickly from his face. Evan held his shaking hand to Jared's face, the boys connecting their lips. Evan carefully pushed Jared on the ground, climbing on top of him and kissing him deeper. Jared's arms laced around his back so he could pull Evan closer on top of him. Small plants entangled into Jared's hair, making Evan pull away and gleam at his boyfriend for a moment.

"You're so pretty. I-I can't believe I'm with someone so amazing. Not to mention, you also have a really hot body." He ran his hands down Jared's chest, reaching his lips down to bite and suck on his neck. He wanted to show everyone that he cared deeply for the boy and that no one else could have him. Jared moaned quietly, gripping Evan's back tight in his hands. Evan's face lit up red again as Jared moaned, finding the boys voice really incredible. As he finished, Jared ran his hand over the hickeys, smiling to Evan.

"You're impressive. These are... Almost as beautiful as you." Jared felt Evan dip him into a kiss again and he closed his eyes in some deep bliss.

"Jared... I'm gonna tell them."

"A-Are you sure?" Jared knew quickly that Evan was referring to telling the Murphy's and the whole community about the real story about Connor. He knew deep down it was the right thing, but he knew it would hurt Evan.

"N-No. I want... I want you to be there with me when I do... Just like wait outside for me or something. Y-You don't have to or anything! But it would... Help... But I guess I don't deserve help at this point." He laughed nervously, feeling Jared reach up and hug him tight in his arms again.

"You deserve help. Y-You freaked out and lied, so what? It'll all be behind us one day. You're still helping so many people. You created that amazing community when nobody else wanted to. You put in an effort, Ev. For someone you didn't even know! Now there's going to be an orchard dedicated to Connor? Imagine how Connor would feel about this. He would be honored by what you're doing, babe." Evan was in tears again as Jared finished, collapsing deeper into his arms.

"I-I have to do this, don't I?"

"I'll be with you the whole time. I mean, I'm part of the problem. I helped you create this... Mess." Jared stumbled on his words, the situation catching up to him as he exhaled shakily.

"It's gonna be bad."

"Yeah."

"B-But we have each other." Evan murmured as he felt Jared kiss him again, their silent tears falling down the sides of their lips. Their hands laced together, Jared squeezing Evan's hand tightly.

"I'm not going anywhere, I'm staying right here. By your side. W-We can do this."

"Let's go n-now. Get it out of the way and after we can just... Make our relationship stronger together." Evan smiled sadly, Jared nodding and getting up from the ground. He helped Evan up, the boys walking hand in hand out of the familiar forest nervously. They remained silent for the sad walk to the Murphy's house, both offering each other weak smiles. They approached the door and Evan started shaking again, he was crying. Jared bit his lip to stop his tears, hugging Evan one last time.

"Hey, just like you said, you are not alone." Jared kissed his cheek, Evan shaking but nodding.

"Y-Yeah, l-let's go." His stutter came out more and more as his anxiety increased and he raised his shaking fist and managed to knock on the door, Cynthia answering in no time.

"Evan! And who are you?"

"Jared, his bo- friend. I'm his friend."

"But I thought Connor was Evan's only friend..." Jared looked angry for a second, breathing in and taking Evan's hand in his own again. Larry came to the door, frowning as he saw Jared holding Evan's hand.

"T-That's wha-what we're here to talk ab-about."
