"My story begins happy"
-----------------------------------------
"Mom?" I said as I walked out into the living room from my room. "Yes, sweetheart?" My mom, Layla, asked me from the couch that she was reclined back in. "I love you." I told her as if it was a fact as I laid down on top of her and sighed. "You're getting to big for this." "Am not." We argued a little bit then settled into silence. After a little bit I got up and trudged to the kitchen searching for something to eat.I finally just decided to eat cereal with a glass of chocolate milk, my favorite drink. I walked into the hallway and looked at my mom, "May I eat in my room?" I asked. She nodded in approval and I walked into my room laying down on my bed and turning on the TV.
My sister, Chloe, and dad, Treston, were still asleep. I never slept for long, falling asleep at around 12:00 a.m. then waking up at 8:00 a.m. only to roll over and go back to sleep till I woke up again every hour on the hour it seemed. It was hard for me to sleep, to get to sleep anyways. Once I was out I could sleep for at least 8 hours before my body finally forced itself to stay awake.
I was eating my cereal and watching Moana, listening for the others to see when they were going to get up and start walking around. Then, I pulled my phone out and started playing Mortal Combat X. After a while I finished my breakfast.
It was always difficult for me to eat too. Almost like I had to constantly remind myself to if I didn't I just wouldn't. Never feeling hungry or like I needed something to eat. I shrugged thinking to myself as I put my dishes in the sink and retreated back to my room.
-------(time jump)-----
1:00 p.m. rolled around and we changed to go swimming despite the scorching temperatures. I put on baby blue swim shorts, a bikini top, and a black baggy swim shirt.
My dad and sister woke up about thirty minutes after I finally finished my cereal and chocolate milk. My sister came to my room and joined me, my dad went to the living room to sit in his recliner.
I walked out of my room and got a towel then picked my phone up. Everybody was ready to go so we all piled into my dads truck. Me and my sister were in the back while my mom was in the passenger and my dad was driving. We got there fast considering we live pretty close to the country club where we swim. We then got out of the truck, me carrying my towel and my dads backpack which contained his keys, wallet, towel, and the sunscreen. We walked up the hill quite fast except my mom because she was highly out of shape. She can't even do one push-up.
We finally got to the top and entered the gate. My dad walked to the concession place and signed in while me, my mom, and my sister went to find a table under the metal canopy thing. After we set all of our things down and my dad came over to us, we put on sunscreen. Me and Chloe finished first, then my dad and last but not least my mom.
I started to walk towards the pool but my dad called me back, "Shay Rubeus." I trudged back and looked at him then replied, "Yes sir?" "Wait for your sister." He smiled knowing I had to listen to him. It was annoying. He was military, Field Artillery, and he was always acting like he was still there. Well, mostly. It was still annoying as all hell. I waited for Chloe to get her goggles and such before we headed towards the deep end of the pool. She was 10 but she could swim like she was swimming from the moment she was born.
I dove in, twisting my body to face the surface and smiled as I saw the rays from the sun penetrating through the water. I resurfaced smiling and looked at Chloe who had yet to jump in. "Is it cold?" She asked standing on the side of the pool still. "Yes. Only a little though. Just jump in." Swimming in one place, keeping myself afloat. She finally jumped in and I swam over to the edge of the pool and hung on the wall.
My dad and mom came over and jumped in too. We started playing tag. The ladders are base and the shallow end of the pool was off limits. A couple of people were in the shallow end but not to many people had showed up yet. After a while of darting back and forth across the twelve foot deep pool, Mom and Dad decided to get out and go sit at the table we had put our stuff at. People starting to slowly show up and swim.
I would dive from the surface of the water to the bottom of the pool, letting the air that filled my lungs out carefully just until I wouldn't float up. I loved it. As long as I was at the bottom of the pool I couldn't hear the kids screaming, the teenagers talking crap about things they knew nothing about, parents yelling at their kids to stop running and to "come here or else", the life guards high pitched whistle blowing through the air every time they saw somebody doing something they shouldn't be. It was nice and quiet. I could see everything going on but not have to listen to any of it.
It was like watching animals running around at a zoo. It was amusing. Every now and then the sun would hit the surface and the rays would split as they pierced the cold water that I enjoyed so highly. It would hold me telling me that it had me and it wouldn't let me go. Others found this scary but I found it comforting, in its own way.
