This is actually a big fear of mine and going to savage aunts house swimming with me isn't really fun cause I never move

Mayas POV
We are in the pool again, everyone's on the other end playing, splashing or trying to dunk each other while I'm over here on the shallow side. Why? Well- "Maya! Come over here with us!", Riley screamed from the other side along with everyone nodding and adding additional yeahs except Sabrina. Farkle had those kind of pools that go from 3 to 10 feet, door once her enthusiastic yelling was responsible. I shook my head " No thanks!" The others went back to doing whatever while she swam over " You know Maya, pools are for swimming. " she chuckled. "I know Riles I just- wanna float." I lied. She grabbed my hand, "Well you can float over here with us." I jerked my hand away as I felt the bottom slowly disappear underneath my feet "No! You guys would try to push me under!" I said back a little to aggressively, "Ok well then we won't, I promise." She leaned against the wall next to me, "No Riley but thank you for the invitation."
I went back to watching everyone play and talk not really minding that I'm not apart of it, "Go back over there and have fun.." I said motioning to everyone else, " I'm fine I rather float with you." I shook my head " Ok Riles.".
So that's what we did, we just sat there in silence and a very nice one I must admit. I usually didn't enjoy it, especially ever since somebody stole are car radio.
Its been about 30 minutes and everyone was slowly quieting down, "Why." Riley randomly spoke scaring me half to death as I turned towards her. She HD her hands crossed behind her back as she swayed back and forth I'm assuming a little restlessness , I know Riley was taller than me but I never thought about it sure its was only about 4 inches but for some reason it seemed like she was towering over me.
I also noticed she's staring at me "Why what?" Sh tilted her head to the other side of the pool "Why don't you want to go over there with me?" I sighed "I just.." She stood in front of me, "Just what?" You know when she tilts her head its kind of cute, "I'm just...scared I guess." Riley knitted her eyebrows, "Scared of what?"
If she really wants to know, "Ok so when I was 8 I, my sis, and my mom would go with my aunt and uncle to a water park called Splash Town, well my mom let us pick who we get to go with and I chose my uncle." I paused to breathe, "Since I was only eight we went on some of the small waterslides until I asked if we could go into the Wave pool, I mean it looked fun its a wave pool after all." Riley nodded and laughed a little, "Well when we got in it was crowded so he took me out a ways to the 4ft to 4.5ft, and because I wasn't very tall I was practically ear level with it so he put me in a donut float thing." Riley made a joke about how carrying the man is, "Now with this float I decided it was a good idea to go out the the 5ft mark, My uncle is a very tall man so he was still standing. Then the waves started coming, It was fun at first but then I noticed the waves caused me to drift out a bit which scared me a little but my uncle kept hold of my float...but unfortunately not me." I sighed, "Eventually the waves got bigger and bigger and a little to big nor comfort, and I tried to tell him I wanted to get out but with all the waves and the noise of other parents and their kids he didn't really hear me. Now at this point a few random teenagers were going out to the 10ft part and I guess none of them noticed me cause when he swam past his foot caught me and I went underwater and I've never really been underwater much and I also didn't really know how to swim and I of course couldn't breathe and I felt like I was down there forever until my uncle picked me up from the back of my shirt and we decided to get out. After that I've never been found of the deep end of anything let alone the ocean.."
I noticed I was crying and wiped my face. Riley slowly nodded and hugged me, "To be honest I'm pretty scared of the deep end too."
I looked up at her, "But your over there all the time?" She chuckled, "True but when there's a bunch of people over there with me I don't feel as scared cause I know they'll help me if I went under too long.." I nodded and slightly pulled away from her, " I guess your right." She once again grabbed my hand and started swimming, "Riley what are you doing." She faced forward and kept swimming, "Face your fears Maya or they'll never leave you."
I felt the ground disappear underneath me, without out its support the water became neck level, "Riley I don't like this feeling." She didn't answer and just kept swimming . I clutched onto her arm, "Riley please let's go back.." Soon we were in the middle of the pool. She pried me from her arm but still held my hand then after a while let go. I tried to move my arms and legs in sync so I could actually stay above water. I guess stay on the shallow end for 7 years really isn't helpful of course. Eventually I found my balance. I turned over to Riley who smiled at me, " See peaches? Nothing to be afraid of." I titled my head "Peaches?" "You just smell like them.." Riley came back over to me and I self consciously grabbed onto her arm, "Still scared?" She laughed a little "Just I can float doesn't me I'm not still afraid." I stated.
Farkle came outside fully clothed, "Guys come inside we ordered pizza!" He yelled with his hands cupping his mouth then walked back in. Riley swam over to the steps and we both got out. I didn't notice 'till now that we were the only ones left outside.
We went back inside and got changed then sat on the couch. "Riles why were y'all out thee so long?" Rowan asked eating pizza, "I got Maya into the deep end. Sabrina emerged from the kitchen, " Holy shit really?! We've been trying to get her over there for years ever since the Splash Town incident!" Sabrina came over and hugged "I'm proud of you dude." She went back into the kitchen and Zay turned on a movie. After a while I latched onto Riley's arm again, "I'm pretty sure you can touch the ground in here." She whispered to me, I nodded and laughed, "Yeah I know."

Boom done that up there 1202 words and yes the Splash Town incident actually happened to me and yes I'm afraid of the deep end unless I'm in a floaty, unlike Maya this issue will probably never be resolved. Anyway hope you enjoyed this and I'm high of cofee so Buh- bye!!
