Previously on Descendant of Two:
"Can you tell us what happened?" I asked the boy in a soft tone.
"No. It's too painful." He responds while clenching his dark red hair.
Vylad pulls me out of the conversation. "Do you want to take the child with us?"
I think of the pros and cons of taking the traumatized child. The pros are getting experience and helping a child, but the cons weigh more than the pros do such as another mouth to feed, more people to look after, and helping a child mentally so he doesn't fall into insanity and depression.
"Alicia, it's your call. I'll go with whatever you think is right because I trust your decision and you better make a decision fast because the boy will become suspicious of us." Vyald tells me.
Vylad's right. I inhale sharply and walk over to the child. I crouch down to his level. "You're coming with us whether you like it or not." I get up and help him out. "Get the stuff you need on an expedition."
"Where are you taking me?"
"To Skystead Village."
"We'll be dropping you off there where you will be you will be put into an foster home. Now come on, we mustn't waste daylight." After I said that the boy went to another room to get his necessities.
"Wait. What's your name?" Vylad asked.
"My name's Alex"
After Alex gets packed up we all head to Skystead Village. It's beginning to become night time during our expedition. "I think we should camp here for tonight."
Vylad's POV
I tucks Alex in his sleeping bag.
"So, which one of us do you trust more?" I asked, trying to start a conversation.
"You." Alex responds immediately.
"Is it 'cause I'm a guy?"
"No. It's because your green eyes remind me of my older brother that I looked up to."
"Oh... Well then rest well." I finish the conversation.
I walk over to Alicia as she's stirring up the fire. "So. Are we just going to drop the boy off just like that? What if he's abused by his foster parents? What if he just becomes an orphan his whole life? What are we going to do?" I ask in an angered voice.
"I don't know, Vylad. We'll just follow the plan." Alicia answers without eye contact.
"So that's it? You have the option of keeping the child and making sure he's a good person and yet you just let fate, a horrible fate happen instead?"
Alicia stays silent. After that fiasco, we all go to sleep.
Alicia's POV
During the night I hear a light steps running across the camp full of dead leaves.
I wake up seeing a masked figure running out of the camp. I run after it trying to fight it to see who it is.
It makes many slices on my arm with a small knife and pins me on a tree with several small knives. I take every knife out and throw them at the figure. I hit it's lower leg. It falls to the ground.
I run to it, taking the mask off and to my surprise it's Alex. I take the knife out of his leg and cover the wound with his mask. I help limp back to the camp.
"Alex, why were you trying to escape?"
"It's because... I overheard you and Vylad talking about dropping me off at Skystead and since you both don't want to keep me I thought that I might as well escape while I can."
"Alex. I've been thinking that Vylad and I should keep you since you kind of remind me of myself. Because I didn't have any family when I was very young too and I don't want you to experience what I had to go through."
An awkward silence awakens.
"Am I going to live?" Alex asks as he points at his bleeding calf.
"Hmm? Oh my divine! Uhh yeah you're going to live but in order to you have to keep a secret."
"Ok what is it?"
"I have Irene's relic, so that means I can heal just like how Irene can since I have her relic in my power right now."
"Really?! Does Vylad even know?"
"No."
"Are you ever going to tell him?"
"... I'm not sure."
I heal Alex of his bleeding leg and myself of my scratches that Alex hit me with.
~~~Time Skipeu to Skystead Village~~~
We had just entered the gates of Skystead and we were immediately informed of the upcoming wedding happening in the afternoon.
"Who's getting married?" I asked.
"Lord Hailey of Pikoro and the Lord's son." Said the villager.
My eyes widened in shock of Hailey never telling me of a love interest. "Ah, I see. Where might this wedding be?"
"In the town square."
"Okay, thank you."
Vylad, Alex, and I were heading towards the Lord's house so that I could speak to Hailey and see if she actually wants to get married. However, we ran into Aphmau.
"Oh thank goodness, Vylad! I need your help." Aphmau said.
"Ahem, there are other people here too." I said.
"Who are you?"
I lost my eye contact in disappointment of her not even remembering me in her past life. I could feel Vylad's and Alex's pitying eyes on me. "My name's Alicia, in a friend of Vylad and many of your guards too. This here is Alex."
"Ah, well then nice meeting you. Anyways I need your help busting Hailey out of the Lord's house since she definitely does not want to get married."
"Tch do you even have a plan?" I scoffed.
"I do, in fact, only if you're willing to listen?"
At this point I could tell she was irritated by me which is absolutely fine since it's not my first time.
"I'm in." Vylad says.
"I'm on Vylad's side." Alex agrees.
"Well I'm out. I don't want to do this your way. I'd much prefer my way over yours." I disagree.
I walk off to the other direction while the rest are heading towards the Lord's house.
