The shadow that hovered above me continued to grow, when they stopped, they were about three feet wide, each! I was terrifyed to stand up, fearing that if they were strong enough they might take me away. I stood there, on my hands and knees trembling with fear, everyone in the bathroom was silent in fear, amazment, shock, and wonder. I broke the silence
"I...we...help?" I couldn't think straight, I still had a headache but it wasn't as bad, and my back wasn't aching, Josh ran over to me to help me on my feet. I felt him jump when he bumped into thise things.
"Should we call the police?" Tammy asked
"No! Don't!" I cried, I wasn't planning on being an experiment, I needed to find out what I was
"Moe! You can't just walk out and not expect a reaction, it's Friday night! People are still coming and going." Tammy tried to talk some sense in me
"That seems better than having to go to the hospital and then a whole bunch or other people, PLUS, the ones out there seeing this!"
"Moe, then what are we suppossed to do?" Josh asked concerned, I knew exactly what I wanted to do
"Call my parents." I stated, Tammy pulled out her phone and gave it to me, I dialed the hose phone number and my father picked up
"Hello?" he sounded tired
"Dad? Dad!"
"Uri? What's wrong? Are you all right?" that sure woke him up
"Get mom! You both need to come!"
"Uri! What's wrong?" I'm glad to hear his voice, it made me feel secure and safe
"Put mom on the phone, you both need to hear this." I heard him call out my mother's maiden name, muffled footsteps came to the phone
"Hello? Uri, what's the matter sweetie?" I could tell they put me on speaker phone
"Guys, I don't think you'd believe me if I just told you." I said through sobs
"Just tell us!" my dad was worried
"Can you guys come down to the Cold Stone? On 45th street?" if I just told them, and they believed me, they would have called the police, if they didn't they would think I was crazy and waited for me to come home. "Please, just come." and I hung up the phone so they would stop asking questions and just get here. I handed Tammy her phone, but she was dazzeled by the wings upon my back, which reminded me. I still don't know what they really look like. I looked over at the bathroom mirror, and my jaw dropped.
"They're beautiful." I uttered to myself, I reached up to touch them, and my heart skipped beats. I was scared that I couldn't control them, but they seemed....tamed. They were long, just below my calf, they stood about a foot over my head, and I was 5'10, white feathers invaded the wings. They were so pretty, it tried to bend them and they felt a little sore, but it was like cartilage was under the feathers.
"Like dove wings." I heard Devon say in the back, he walked forward so he could get a better look, and just like that, everyone follwed him. I saw that Trevor reached out to touch them and I turned quickly. I shook my head
"Don't touch them." I said, and as if in a defense move, the wings flapped violently. It almost knoced everyone down, they all looked at me in shock. "Sorry, I don't know how they did that." I apologized quickly, Devon looked at the wings with a smile on his face.
"Whoa..." he said amazed, his mother was a biologist, I bet he couldn't wait to tell her. "When people find out about this, you're gonna be famous in a way!"
"Uh, who said people are gonna find out about this?" I asked
"Well, you don't think you could keep this a secret? It's going to spread." he was right, I needed to find a secret solution to this conflict
"Okay, I'll think of something. But don't tell, please? This is our secret!" I begged, I had sadness in my eyes, this won't end well if people find out
"You actually think I can keep my mouth shut about this?" one of their dates said
"Yea, people are going to ask what happened to you." Trevor said
"Well lie." I stated
"I'm not a good liar." Devon said
"Well try!" gosh! 11th graders are so difficult
"Guys!", Josh was out of his trance that this was real, "This is serious! This is one of those stupid rumors that spreed then die out! This is real! This is someone's life! Even if people do believe what you're trying to tell them they'll think you guys have problems."
"And if they do believe us?" Devon asked
"Then the ones who don't will tell the school nurse about you!" Tammy called out
"Oh really? If they do, can you do it for me?" he winked at her, and she made a noise of disgust, her phone started to ring. She handed it to me,
"Your parents." I grabbed it
"Hello?" I asked
"Hon? It's me! Where are you? We're at the Cold Stone!" my mom was so scared
"I'm in the bathroom."
"Okay." and she hung up the phone, I handed Tammy her phone, and three seconds later my parents ran into the bathroom, shoving their way past the group of teens and straight to me. But then they stopped, and my mother screamed in horror. Everyone covered their ears, she ran to me with tears in her eyes
"What happened to you?!" she screamed in my face
"I don't know, they just ripped through my back." she embraced me trying not to touch the wings on my back, my dad didn't know what to do. It broke my heart when I saw tears welling up in his eyes and then he walked out of the restroom. Right after he walked out a woman who worked the counter ran in.
"Is everything all right!?" she asked in a panic, "I heard a scream, so I called the police." she informed us, she walked near the crowd and everyone saw the desperate look on my face because they blocked the view from seeing me, the door opened again, and it was someone else that worked here because I could see their little hat.
"Excuse me, I'm the manager here, let me through." it sounded like an old man
"The girl back here dosen't WANT people to see her." Trevor said
"I'm the manager and I can kick you out if I don't get through." they stood their ground, I was so happy they cared. But it all quickly faded when I heard the sound of sirens and the bell of the door keep ringing. I dropped to my knees
"This will be the end of normal." I told myself as I heard two officers radio enter the bathroom.
