August 5th, 1942-Noon

Today, I was woken from a night terror with tears rolling down my face. This is what can happen to you when you hide for 46 days in an attic. I am currently sitting by the window of the attic, watching a group of people being pulled from work. They had been hiding Jews, like me, in their building. The soldiers brought the people to town square where they were...'made and example of.' An example of anyone hiding- Jews, Democrats, handycapped or any other illeagle immigrants. They were shot as my sister Annie, my brother John, and myself watched in Horror. I could hear their hearts racing. I didn't look, but I knew they were crying, for I was as well.
