~ Gregory's POV~

Feeling a light tap on my shoulder, I sat up and rubbed my eyes. "Hey champ time to get up, today is the day you get to spend the day with Mr. Crevan for job shadowing,"  grandfather said in a cheery voice as he already laid my clothes for the day out and went out of the room as I could hear him humming walking down the hallway. Getting up I grabbed the clothes from the chair and got ready for the day. Pulling the jacket that grandfather was given by Adrian for me to wear today, opening my door I could smell breakfast being cooked down in the kitchen. Running down the stairs I almost tripped over the rug but grandfather was fast and caught me before I landed on the floor face-first. "Wow there champ don't take a digger on your big day," he chuckled as he placed the plate on the table.

This is how it was for the past few weeks, grandfather would always trade in his daily dose of toast for a healthy breakfast. He became more lively and tried to look on the bright side of things and always running around trying to seemed younger than he really is and all. I mean I love this side of him but I think he might be overdoing it and such but he's trying to do his best to be the emotional support for the events that have been happening recently. Stabbing my fork into the egg on my plate I watched grandfather clean up his kitchen mess and placed every dish he made messy in the sink and hummed as he poured himself a cup of coffee. Eating my breakfast as grandfather drank his coffee reading the newspaper just to keep himself busy as I eat and place my plate in the sink. This was an everyday thing now since I live with grandfather now since mother is no longer living.

Getting up and tapping grandfather's shoulder he looked up from the paper and smiled, "ready to go, champ." I nodded my head and went over to the door to get my shoes on as grandfather drank the last bit of his coffee and placed the coffee mug in the sink and scoffed on his boots as he grabbed his keys. Trying my shoe I stood up as grandfather opened the door and I was out of the door with my backpack I packed the night before, grandfather handed me a total of $20 as I looked up at him. "It's for lunch since Adrian said he was going out for lunch today so that way you can be a big boy and pay for your own food," grandfather said with a chuckle as he locked the front door. I looked at the 20 dollar bill as I walked to the car and opened the door of the passenger door. Getting in I waited for the drive there to the funeral home where I'll find everything I need to solve this murder of two people whom I care about and know.

~Time Skip~

Arriving at the funeral home I opened the car door as Adrian came walking out of the front door of the old looking building. "Well, well Mr. Afton you're on time. It's good to see you too, Gregory," he welcomed us with a smile. Grandfather walked up to Adrian and whispered a few things before waving bye to me without adding, "I'll be picking you up around 6 o'clock, Gregory." Of course, he wouldn't use the word 'champ' when we're out in public. I waved good-bye to grandfather before walking into the building with Adrian. At first glance, you would believe this place was poor and worn down, but on the second look, you would see the fine arts of the craftsmanship of each and every coffin that's put into each and everyone. "Ready to work on an order I received this morning before you arrived, Gregory," Adrian asked out of the blue as I looked at the table in the middle of the room.

For most of the day we worked on the coffin, made from scratch- hard oak with rims of the aged tree, the innards were a velvet red fabric with a standard white pillow for the deceased head to rest upon. It was now lunch time as Adrian picked up the phone and dialed a number while I was admiring the fine waxing on the covering of the oak wood. "Yes that would be all thank you very much," I looked up to see Adrian place the phone back on the holder, "so Gregory do you want some answers?" His lips stretched into a smirk as I closed the lid of the freshly made coffin, "yeah but what do you really mean about a general laugh. Is it almost like telling a joke?" It seemed stupid to ask but I had to make sure before I do anything to find out if my hunches are right. He chuckled as he sat on a coffin that was marked for the display of different styles of the marksmanship of wood. "Yes, you remind me so much of the young earl when he asked the same question so long ago," he chuckled.

I went over to my bookbag and started to rummage through my bag.  Looking for the prop that grandfather always used to make me smile. This has to work or else I don't know what to do.  Placing the arrow head band on I turned around and thought about the joke grandfather always told me.  Breathing out I looked up at Adrian and smiled a goofy smile. " What's the best thing about Switzerland?," I paused for a moment waiting for him to say anything at all, but all he did was tilt his head, hey it works for me, " I don't know, but the flag is a big plus." I finished off with a goofy smile.  A few seconds went by before Adrian bursted out laughing out loud and banging on the counter.  "My,  my never heard that one before.  I gotta say you may remind me of the earl but you surely are different -in a good way I mean, " Adrian said with a few chuckles here and there.

I smiled as Adrain stood up and walked up to me. "So are you really want to know what happened at that pizzeria that night and to your mother the following event," he smiled before he tilted his head, "are you even ready for the truth, Gregory." Sighing, I closed my eyes and took a deep breath and thought of every scenario that I could think of or muster up. Re-opening my eyes I looked directly at Adrain and I saw him move his bangs out of his face. Bright colored eyes stared back at me, gold and bright green eyes were the only things that defined the paranormal and other spiritual events. "Yes, I want to know everything you know and maybe even more about you Adrian Crevan," I clenched my teeth as Adrian smiled and gestured to the room with candle light behind the counter. "Come this way so there are no prying eyes or anyone else can hear us," he said with a slight chuckle.
