A hot tear slid down my cheek as I hugged Mimi, my best friend. We had finally gotten through it all.  Five years of photography school would become my best accomplishment. I then readied myself for what was to come. Mimi and the rest of our graduating class took of our hats and threw them up into the clouds. Even though her major was literature, she somehow convinced the professors to let her do this. We then locked arms and walked off the stage grinning because we were happy as shit. I mean, who wouldn't be, we just graduated from college. I would not miss any of my professors, besides Mrs. Latimore. She stook by me during my lowest days and my happiest but enough said, its time for the real fun. Sadly, only my brother could make it because my older sister and my parents were somewhere in Europe with a snowed in plane. I didn't blame them for not being here, it was in God's control and I knew I had their love and support.

My brother ran up to me giving me a bone crushing hug and ruffled my curly hair.

"Congratulations Lay. I knew you would make it."

If this light bright nigga doesn't get his ass on somewhere. Now he wants to say congratulations. Ever since I started college he's been saying ‘watch you fail that or you probably cheated’:  all types of bullshit about how I'm such a procrastinator.

"Whatever boy. Thank you but I'm ready to hit the club. I only have five days off from work and I'm not wastin' em on you."

"Alright. Stop by my place when you done getting ready we can walk in together. "

He must be joking

"Car I don't need a babysitter anymore, I'm 22!" I stated.

"Relax. I know you tryna do ya own thing. I set up a lil sum at the club so I need to let the bouncer know your wit me."

"Lay come oonnnn." Mimi beckoned.

"Alright hoe. See you later big bro." I teased.

Mimi and I locked arms as she pulled me into her black on black range, a special gift she received from her father last year. When she got it she was over the moon but now she treats it like its some regular everyday car. Shit, all I have is a mini cooper so this hoe needs to count her blessings.

"So where to?" She asked as she applied more mascara at the red light. I hadn't even noticed we'd begun driving.

"My place. You know we need to get ready." I began to examine my three days old white almond nails.

"Ohh yeaaa. You bout to turn up tonight?"

"Hell yes. I know I don't usually drink but I might make an exception for you."

She gushed and popped her imaginary collar while making a left turn.

Suddenly my butt buzzed and I pulled out my gold IPhone. I didn't want to be like all these other hoes and get rose gold but when do I care about what other people think.

"Babe stop at this Chik-fil-a. " I said as I viewed the notification from my phone. It was a text from someone I forgot about a loong time ago. To think this nigga had the audacity to text me. How'd he even get my new number? No Lay. Stop worrying. Today is a happy day. Tre is in the past; It's time to start anew.

"Hi welcome to Chik-fil-a what would you like to order." Boomed a female voice from the speaker. I scanned over the menu and told Mimi my order and looked into my lap as I felt my phone buzz again.

"My god what does this nigga want." I mumbled.

"Oh." I smiled happily as I scrolled through the gram to see a new post from Chris Brown.
