"By the way, I never got your name." I said while we were dashing away from Noreatlas as fast as a cheetah.

"Kate. I can manipulate lightning. Plus I'm super fast." Maddie said.

"I'm Valerie. You can call me Val." I introduced myself. "I can shapeshift into practically anything."

"My name is Aria. I can turn invisible. That's pretty much it." Aria complained. It's funny, even though we are free from Noreatlas, I have that utter feeling that we are being watched or tracked. My father will come looking for us. We don't know when, and I don't want to find out, or at least anytime soon. Aria grabbed my wrist to slow me down and told me this,

"Val, you know how the man who put us in that prison was our dad, right?"

"Yeah. Why do you ask?"

"Because Kate doesn't know that. We should tell her."

I put my hand on her shoulders.

"Um, you do realize that if we tell her that the man who tried to kill every mutant by throwing them in that place was our father, we would get killed or seriously injured. You willing to take that chance?"

"No, but still, she has a right to know."

"But still, anything could happen. She needs to earn our trust, ok?"

"Why can't we just tell her now, Val?"

"Ok you know what?" I started to get pretty annoyed real quick. "You wanna tell her so badly, go ahead. But when she strikes you with her lightning, don't come crying to me."

I get that Aria wants to tell her so badly, but I'm not willing to take that risk. Kate has known us for two hours, not even. We need to trust each other before we can say anything about our lives to her.

"Come on, let's keep going." Kate led us both to the dark, lantern-lit alley. She went to check to see if they stopped chasing us. "All clear!"

"I cannot believe we just escaped the new mutant Alcatraz." Aria said out of breath. "I thought we would never get out of there." I just wish that we knew there was a weapons vault sooner. I feel so free, I feel like I can do anything possible in the world.

"We could practice using our powers." I suggested.

"Ok, but where will get targets?" Aria turned on her phone.

"Uh..." Kate chuckled. "We can use these trash cans?" I suspiciously asked.

"Oh, no! A giant fire at the top of that building! We can use our powers to stop it." I yelled.

"Lets go." Kate ran up to the brick building. "You coming or what?"

"Huh?" Aria lost her thought. "Sorry, when it comes to fire, I get a little... anxious." Aria and fire are like green eggs and ham, they don't go well together. Whenever she sees a fire truck or hears sirens she starts to get a panic attack, gets cold sweats. It's just really scary for her.

"Ok, Aria. You can stay outside the building," I explained. "but we need your invisibility to reduce the flames."

"You can sneak all of us into the building." Kate suggested. We all went up to the building. The plan was that I would shapeshift into a ladder, then we'd climb up the building. Now we split up into different parts of the area.

"Um, you might wanna come see this!" Aria noticed. She seemed very worried that the fire would burn her.

"No no no, it's a little puppy. It doesn't have a home." I walked up to the fluffy puppy. Aria argued cause she doesn't have a heart.

"Ya know what, Val? Forget the thing ok, the building is collapsing!"

"I'm still taking it!" I took the little pup and caught up with them. Kate super sped us down the building and turned back invisible. No one ever knew who stopped the fire, because if they did, we wouldn't be alive to hear the words "Thank you". We went to an abandoned building and stayed there. I just dropped to the floor in exhaustion. It's been a long day. I heard a booming sound, almost like an explosion or a bomb being dropped.

"Did you hear that?" I asked. "It sounded like an explosion."

"I heard it too. This is getting scary real quick." Aria started pacing back and forth long enough to make me dizzy.

"Hey, what's going on out here?" Kate walked over towards us. She was in deep shock. "Whoa what is that?" We all saw something, something that we couldn't even think of. And I thought us mutants were the only "special" people that aren't held in a jail cell. Why was it here? Of all places, they'd stop here on Earth. I just don't get it. This is starting to freak me out. This alien just started to shoot anything in its way, Aria just saw someone's skull crack open. Gross!

"Is that things skin... blue? Shit! That thing is wrecking the city.

"What the heck?" Aria looked closer then screamed in fright. "Don't look down! That ship is destroying everything in its sight." She covered her eyes.

"What? Holy crap!" My jaw dropped. I had never seen anything like it. It was... a monster who looked ancient at that. Between this monster and my Dad, there was no competition.

"Citizens of Sullivan Square, I am Abomination. We come in, well metal but still, we heard there were mutants here on Earth. Don't worry, if you surrender to me we won't have any problems. Interfere, and you shall face a fatal punishment." I knew we were doomed.
