class ended after a while.
a blessing, for sure.you rose off your chair onto your shaky legs, caused by the sudden weight pushed onto them.
preparing for the bell to ring in a minute, you were about to make your way near the door when a voice had called out from behind you.
"w-wait."
a stutter. how cute.you whipped around, eyes darting for an answer as your gaze met his.
"i-I'm morty." he stammered, as you smirked. he came closer, minimizing the distance between you both.
his hand was brought out, trembling of course, for a handshake.
instead, you gripped his hand and pulled him in for a pound hug, or "bro hug". in your old school, people would do it all the time with people, a sign of friendship.
sadly, here, it was a first. you caught onto this as he gave you a worried glance, one out of you not answering him, and the awkward action you made.
"i know." you smiled, half-heartedly, in response to his introduction.
"h-how?" he questioned.
" 'teacher told me to sit in the back, so I figured it was you. you're the only guy sitting back there anyways." you scoffed.
"o-oh..haha." he flatly laughed, a forced one, but still cute in a way with his voice cracks and constant stuttering.
"uh, yeah." in fear of continuing on a dead conversation, you turned around once more to head for the exit, but of course, he had to grab your wrist in order to get you to stop.
"w-wait a second!" he faltered.
"hm?" you cocked your head to the side to look at him, whilst he loosened the grip on your hand.
"i-i think- what's your next class?"you shuffled around in your pockets for the schedule you folded up, opening it with one hand and browsing off of it.
"history, i guess? wh-"
it seemed rude at first, but with the sudden excitement that came out of morty, you let him cutting you off pass.
"t-that's great! you can come with me, if-f
you don't mind.."the bell rung after his statement, and you agreed, since it never hurt anyways.
.
it was only a brief moment, but you managed to catch a good look of his appearance before you entered the next class.
he had the most delightful hazel eyes you've ever seen, a tint of nervousness hidden behind them. in addition, he possessed medium golden brown, wavy hair, that stacked upon each other in layers. he had a cute nose, and the softest, enduring features.
he took hint of your staring, and looked down at his feet as a light rose hue took over his cheeks, and nose.
you, were clearly oblivious to this.
.
it seemed morty's luck of having "all", or at least "most" classes with you ran out after you had an advanced two-block class instead of his intensive one.you could tell he was clearly disappointed with this, but it did not phase you until you blindly stated "i can help with that course, if you want".
to which he gleefully agreed, and thanked you for.
you shied away from morty the rest of the evening, eventually running into him on your way out of the school grounds.
"h-hey! uh, (y/n)..!" morty stammered behind you.
you glanced around your shoulder, looking directly at morty soon enough as he caught up next to you.
"hey, morty." you replied in a soft tone.
"s-so i was thinking, uh, would you like to come over tomorrow t-to my house? w-we could-"
you gave him a confused glare, squinting your eyes as you laughed.
"listen dude, we just met and you're inviting me over? you got something for me?" you chuckled, obviously joking. what were the chances of that?
morty seemed to take the joke literally, choking on his own words, as the same rosey blush took over his cheekbones as earlier.
"u-uh.." his voice cracked again. he seemed panicked. morty awkwardly shuffled his feet on the ground as he stared at them.
"shit, does he actually have something for me? oh hell-"
you huffed, as you laid a hand on his back. the sudden interaction caused morty's body to jump, as he stared right at you with the same confused glance.
"fine, ill come, but don't pull some weird shit on me, ok?"
you were entirely apathetic in this situation, feeling nothing whatsoever — except guilt — when morty smiled at you and raced out of the hallways quickly. it was who you are. you were close to having no choice in it, or any say, because if you said no, you would upset him and possibly get him angered.
but why would you care? what the hell?
it seemed the years of obstacles that couldn't be overpowered in your past had led to your selflessness, and un-touched demeanor. putting others before you but eventually pushing them away was your thing.
simple rules.
yet, when morty came along, it seemed to dissolve.
morty seemed like the type of boy to listen, but to never understand. the type of person as to when you spill your heart out to them, they reply with a "oh" or even "damn, that sucks." the type of boy whom would come into your life, and then leave, taking a piece of you with him.
as you staggered out of the hallways and into the blazing sun, you came to the conclusion that morty was probably your only chance at finding that missing slot in yourself. it seemed cliche, but after all, what did you have to loose ?
thought your negative thoughts overcame some of the hopefulness like always, some faith still remained.
"please morty, don't be a little shit like the rest" you internally stated with a groan shortly after.
