Chapter 3

It had been a week since the Smiths were over for dinner and a week since I had Julia's number saved in my contacts and yet, I had not been able to pick up the phone and call her. I was scrolling through my contacts when I received a message, from Harry, the perfecto I met exactly a week ago.

Hey. How you doing? –H

Don't use pickup lines at me just yet. –A

That was so not a pickup line. –H

Yeah, right. Anyhoo, what's up? –A

I picked up the call I got from him.

"Hey. That was not a pickup line."

"Hello and ohhkay! What's up?"

"Was wondering if you wanna hangout?"

"Why?"

"Well because I don't really have friends in this town?"

"Oh yeah! The new hottie," I did this playful raising my eyebrows thingy even though he couldn't see me. *Admit it! We all do gestures while speaking on the phone!*

"Whatever. Is that a yes or a no?"

"Sure. Where do you wanna meet?"

"I thought you could show me around seeing I AM the newbie."

"Okay. Meet me at the mall."

"The Mall? Are you serious?"

"You wanna hang or not?"

"Okay okay. Be there in like 30 minutes. Bye."

"Bye"

It was a hot day so I wore my favorite denim shorts with black converse and a white crop top. I put my hair in a high messy ponytail and set to hang out with Harry.

"So, where are we going?"

"We, my friend, are going to get food."

"Not bad Sanders!"

"Not ever bad." I flipped my hair, "There's this awesome pizza place right around the corner. It serves the best pizzas and you can choose your own topping!"

We placed our orders and sat on a booth in the corner. I ordered a bacon, ham and four cheese pizza with extra bacon and ham. Harry ordered a classic pepperoni pizza.

"So, what's up with you?" He stared at me with a smirk.

"Nothing much. You know, I just sit around all day cooking, eating, watching movies. The girls have been busy and Shane, my best-friend, is dating someone apparently. What about you?"

"I am busy with unpacking at the moment. But, that's not what I meant." I raised my eyebrow, failing at which, with a questioning look.

"What do you mean?"
"Well, you seem to be radiating today. You seem really happy."

FUCK. I look happy?

"And that is a problem, why?"

He chuckled, "Not at all. But you seem different than the last time we met."

I sat there with a look on my face that hopefully meant please continue.

As our orders arrived, it saved me from the question.

The smell of bacon and cheese reached my nose and we both dove in on our pizza. Neither of us talked while devouring our delicious meal.

We got ice cream later and sat on a bench on the sidewalk, chatting. When we came around the topic of love, I ignored it saying I didn't know how that felt like. He told me about a girl he loved but she apparently left him for another guy.
