Having Sana beat up a bully for him was fun and all, but Taehyung was still worried about his precious best friend getting expelled.

But then again, Sana didn't get expelled when she beat up the bullies back when they were six years old...

So, Taehyung doesn't really need to worry about anything, right? Sana can take care of herself. He knew how smart and capable she was.

But....

What about him?

What has he ever done for Sana?

Nothing. It was always him who needed Sana's help. Sana never asked for his.

Probably because he can't help with anything at all.

That thought left a bitter taste in the twelve-year-old's mouth. He winced as he began to delve into self hatred. He looked to the left, and lo and behold, Sana was sitting a few seats away, quietly doing her homework instead of chatting with Taehyung since the teacher in charge had scolded them earlier for talking too loudly.

Or rather, scolded him, not Sana. The teacher had thought that Taehyung had influenced the school's prodigy into breaking the rules. He forced the two best friends to sit far away from each other, probably in hopes that Taehyung will leave Sana alone. He even ordered Taehyung to stay away from Sana.

Said girl noticed him staring and gave him a small smile. Taehyung forced himself to smile back then quickly turned to his books.

At the corner of his eye, he saw Sana frown.

He forced himself to not look at her.

Taehyung bit his lip. Maybe everyone else was right. Maybe he didn't deserve Sana. Maybe... Sana was just pitying him, and that's why she became his friend.

Surely, Taehyung thought, an angel wouldn't step down from her high pedestal for some trash like me.

It was too good to be true.

He wasn't going to deny that he was utterly pathetic. His can't score anything in academics to save his own life, he was a klutz at P.E., and his social skills, oh god. His social awkwardness and constant stuttering was the reason Sana was his only friend.

And at that moment, Kim Taehyung felt like the most worthless person in the world.

"Alright, you two can go home now." The teacher in charge's voice boomed throughout the classroom. Taehyung found it unecessary, there was only him and Sana in the classroom anyway.

"Thank you, Mr. Kim!" Sana chirped in her usual cheery tone, and the teacher couldn't help but smile back at her. "You're welcome, Sana!"

"Thank you, Mr. Kim," Taehyung repeated after her in a slightly softer voice. Mr. Kim's expression changed from a smile to a frown.

"You're welcome, Taehyung."

Taehyung looked down on the floor. The difference in Mr. Kim's tone was obvious. As if Taehyung's earlier thoughts weren't already painful and bitter, Mr. Kim had just rubbed salt into the wound.

Everyone loved Sana.

Everyone hated Taehyung.

After quietly packing his untouched homework, Taehyung stood up and left the classroom, not even bothering to wait for Sana.

He wasn't sure if his eyes were playing tricks on him but Mr. Kim seemed glad that Taehyung had gone without Sana.

That just rubbed more salt into the wound.
