Gemma
When I woke up the next morning I felt refreshed. Stretching my arms I bumped Sabriel's sleeping form with my elbow. Oops.
"Gemma?" He groaned.
"Sorry, Sabriel," I whispered.
"Don't think I forgot about our conversation last night," he groaned sleepily.
"Sabriel you're still tired, give it a rest," I whispered into his ear.
"No Gemm, we're getting to the bottom of this now," he said before sitting up and yawning. "Now, this dream from last night?" he asked while grabbing my hand, looking into my eyes, and nodding to assure me that he was listening.
"It's nothing, just a nightmare" I said, staying firm with my stance.
"Gemma, you were really shaken by whatever this dream was about last night. I want to help but I can't if you don't tell me anything," he gave me a look that said hopeless and please all at the same time.
With that look, I cracked, "Well I was in the hall where Dimitri was killed and suddenly it was just Dimitri's corpse and I. I reached for a door handle and it wouldn't open, I tried every door in the hall, all of them were locked. Then the walls started pushing in and I was trapped, I screamed then I woke up."
"I'm so sorry, my love," Sabriel said, wrapping his arms tightly around me.
"It's fine" I reply, brushing a tear out from below my eye so Sabriel wouldn't notice.
"Gemm, don't cry," he pleaded, obviously my attempt to hide my emotions didn't work.
"I'm not," I denied the annoyingly accurate accusation.
"Oh, Gemm," he sighed, squeezing me tighter in his arms.
"Do we have class today?" I asked trying to change the subject.
"Yeah" he replied with disappointment.
"Okay then let's get up" I answered. He gave me a look that said that he knew what I was up to but he followed instruction anyways.
Sabriel
How she could so easily just go back to concentrating on school completely baffled me, but I did it. Pushing her to explain what was wrong when it was clearly unwanted would just cause problems, and it wasn't worth it.
"So, I'll see you after class?" I ask with a smile.
"Yeah," Gemma smiled in return, kissing me before exiting her dorm.
I ran a hand through my hair before taking a deep breath and stretching my arms above my head. Class. It'd been so long since I'd had to deal with that stupid shit. Ah well. I pulled on my typical clothing and exited the room. I entered the stairway and made my way down to the ground floor. Vlad was waiting there, at the doorway to the stairs.
"Hey moron," he greeted me, "you're using protection right?"
"That's a personal question," I said, giving him a friendly glare.
"Yeah, well, just need to make sure you aren't making mistakes in college that'll affect the rest of your life, ya know?"
"If she got pregnant now, we'd start our family. I would have no problem with that."
"Whatever, your life not mine," Vlad shrugged, holding his hands up innocently, "Have fun in class, man-slut."
"I'm not a slut! I only do a single girl."
"Believe what you want," Vlad turned and left the dorm building, heading off in some random direction. He didn't have many classes, so he could probably go anywhere during a lot of class times.
I sighed, heading towards one of the boring lecture halls. If there was anything that would kill him, it would be the dead-minded studies, not something that he was going to kill on the battlefield. Why did warriors have to learn math and literature anyways? It was totally over-rated and pointless.
Vladimir
"Headmaster, are there any new missions for a small party?"
"Uh, that isn't my problem. Go to the M.C. if you want a mission."
"Please sir. Something special and dangerous. Sabriel and I have more experience than the puny missions that the M.C. offers."
"I'll ask around for you, check a couple of my business partners and such. See if there's anything out of the ordinary for you."
"Thank you sir," Vladimir stood up, exiting the dark office with a smirk on his lips. Something extra dangerous wouldn't make it suspicious when Gemma and Sabriel didn't return. He was definitely looking forward to it.
"Hey!"
Vlad glanced up to see some random student of whom he didn't recognize running towards him.
"What do you want, runt?" He growled out in response.
"I wanted to ask, do you have a girlfriend?" she asked with an innocent smile.
Vlad let out an annoyed breath, "No I don't, and I'm not looking for one," Stupid students, are sex and reproduction the only things left on their minds?
"Oh," She looked at the ground, appearing hurt by his response.
"Don't worry about it, you'll find someone a lot more deserving than I at some point in your life. Don't squander your feelings on me, it's a waste of time," Vlad said, lifting her chin to look her in the eye. Her eyes were wet with tears that had yet to fall.
"Don't waste time on something so meaningless," Vlad said, letting her go and turning to walk away. A sniffle behind him informed him that she was unmoving, but attempting to suck in her emotions and let his rejection not hurt her. Good, it was better for her in the long run.
Of course, if he'd wanted to, he could have brought her to his room, and banged her for hours, in an attempt to disgust his friend in the same way he'd done for Vlad, but that wasn't worth the effort.
Taking a turn to re-enter the dorms, Vlad went for the stairs, going up to his room and flopping on the bed, reading one of the books he'd bought on the last mission. The story drew his mind away from his hatred and anger.
