The mysterious masked figure perched on the tall building. He waited for his earpiece to buzz. When it finally did, he said in a gruff voice, “Assassin 81 reporting. Assassination failed. I only managed to hit one of the kids. I will try harder. The boy called Matt is starting to get on my nerves. I’m going to kill him.”

In the hospital, Sergeant See looked around the detective club. All of them had solemn expressions. Toby was lapsing in and out of consciousness. Sergeant See said in a grave voice, “I’m sorry, Matt, but you can’t continue to work on the case.

“But sergeant, I want to solve the case! I have four weeks to solve it. I will be extra careful, okay?” Matt shot back defiantly.

“No! Do you want another of your friends to die?” the sergeant shouted. He was in a furious temper now.

Matt gave up quarrelling with Sergeant See and home sadly. The others went back home. Only the sergeant stayed behind to look after Toby. Matt lay down on his bed, not caring about the glass pieces of his window hurting him. He knew Sergeant See just wanted him to be safe but he could take care of his own self. He decided to continue working on the case. That would be what Toby wanted. So, he needed to know where the scene of the murder took place.

He decided to ring up Pete and work on the case with him. Pete feared no danger, so Pete would not get injured easily. Plus, he wanted to keep the girls safe. He called Pete and told him that they were going to his uncle’s shop but Pete just answered, “We’re not supposed to be working on the case, dude!” Matt answered solemnly that Toby would have wanted them to solve the case. Pete sighed and replied that he would be coming in ten minutes in a cab.

“Assassin 41 reporting. The boy is going out with his friend. Arrange transport to follow them immediately.” The assassin on Matt’s house reported. He grinned to himself. The boss was going to be pleased with him… Matt was going to be killed! As soon as Matt got into the taxi, the assassin leapt down from the building and went over to his motorbike.  He started up the engine and prepared to give chase.

Pete looked into the front mirror which reflected what was at the back. He decided that the motorcyclist was just a normal civilian. As the cab came nearer towards his uncle’s newspaper shop, Pete noticed that the motorcyclist was still following them. He decided to play the motorcyclist’s game. He looked at Matt. Matt was fast asleep. He woke Matt up. Both of them got out of the cab and told the cab driver to wait for them. When he refused, Pete added a few more dollars to the fee. The driver agreed to wait for them.

They entered the shop and Pete asked his uncle where the murder scene was. He replied, “The police told us not to print the place out.”

“Don’t tell lies, Mr. Low. It will do you no good.” Mr. Low sighed and told them that the police had no clue to where the murder scene happened. Then he scowled. He slapped himself twice, muttering that he should not have told them that. Matt was also talking to himself. “I was right. The police don’t know the murder place. I’m going to find it.” He said out loud.

Both of them thanked Mr. Low and went out of the shop as soon as they went into the cab, the cab took off. Both of them stared at each other in surprise. As they tried to make the driver stop the cab, the taxi swerved to a side. They decided to follow the driver as they could not stop him without an accident happening. As Pete looked at Matt, he immediately knew that Matt had a plan.

When the cab finally stopped, Matt took out his house keys. A paperweight was attached to the house keys. He smashed the paperweight onto the driver’s head. He fell unconscious. Pete lifted the driver’s head to look at his face and found out that it was not their real driver. Pete figured that the bad guys had disposed the real driver and put in this fake to bring them here.

As they got out of the cab, they realized that they were surrounded by masked figures. They reached for Matt and Pete. They tied them up, gagged them and blindfolded them. When they removed the blindfold, Matt and Pete found themselves in a room. Pete demanded to know what was happening and suddenly, the front door burst open. Pete hoped that it would be Sergeant See but the person was just another masked person.

All the masked figures stood up and looked at the person who just came in. One moment they were staring at the person, the next they came flying at him. He seemed like a professional. Within a few seconds, he took down five ninjas. When another ninja withdrew a knife and attempted to stab him from the back, he sent that ninja flying with two back kicks. Pete and Matt stared at him in awe. Matt thought that the ninja was a master of Kung Fu. The ninja gave another two ninjas opened-palm blows and they were thrown onto the floor.

Soon, all the masked figures were groaning on the ground. The gallant masked figure standing in the centre of the room looked at Matt and Pete before jumping out of the window. Matt and Pete got out of the building and headed to the nearest bus-stop. They were not going to risk their lives again. When they alighted and went their separate ways, Matt was suddenly ambushed. He saw a glint of silver
