When Sally gets to the bottom of the stairs, everything goes black. And then there is a long silence, then everything goes back to normal.
"What was that?" Everyone asks worriedly.
"Wait. Where did Zeke go?" Jack wondered
"And Alice. Both of the twins are gone." Kevin pointed out.
"Lets spread out and find them!" Sarah orders.
"Only on the first floor!" Kevin screams as everyone walks away to look.
They decide to split into groups of two. Jack and Sarah go to the Foyer and look there. Carl and James walk over to the Dining Room. Neither of the groups find anything. Sally and Alex went over by the stairs, but trying not to go up them. They looked around, and Alex saw a small door on the side of the stairs that she hadn't seen before. Kevin was with Cassandra looking in the Family Room, when Kevin heard Alex screaming for him.
"I'll be right back." He said and then ran off to see what happened.
"Have you ever seen this door?" Alex asks Sally as they wait for Kevin.
"No. But then again I hadn't really been paying attention to this area."
"What happened?" Kevin asks as he's panting from running across 3 rooms.
"Was this door ever here?"
"I haven't seen that there. Let's look inside."
Expecting it to be locked, Sally puts one had on the knob and pulls it a little bit. But to her surprise, it's wide open. She looks around for a light and finds a lantern. She turns it on and sticks it in there. And when she looks in, she sees the man from upstairs. She screams and falls backwards.
"Whats wrong?" Everyone asks as they run to the origin of the scream.
"There's a man in there!"
"Wait, WHAT?" Kevin looks in with the lantern, and he looks around, and jumps as soon as he sees a fingertip in the light.
"Karen, Sal, what is this?"
"I have no idea, we never went under there when we were cleaning up the house. We never even saw it!" Karen said to the group.
"Then, how is this door here?"
"Ummm... Kevin, you might wanna look at the door." Carl says.
"Wait, why?" Kevin says as he looks at it.
"One in the ballroom. One in the Kitchen. Find the keys and unlock them please. Save your friends. But prepare for a scary plight! To get a key you must vote 3 people to participate in a challenge. The first two to complete the challenge will get the two clues to the key. And the third, will unfortunately meet their end. If you want to save your friends, get rid of 2 of them. But that isn't all you must do. Save these 2 and they both have a clue, that will lead you to the next rule. You have until the clock rings 9 until they both meet their demise. The first challenge is on the second floor of the estate. The second is in the ballroom. Good luck. Hopefully you will be able to escape."
"What?"
"We have to vote for each other to die. Two lives must be given to get two lives back and escape?"
"How do we escape? Can't we just take the carriage out of here?"
"The carriage is gone."
"Then what do we do?"
"We have to vote."
"Wait..wait..wait. You actually want us to vote to die?"
"Apparently. It's the only way to 'escape'".
"So I guess we have to. And soon. It's almost 8 and we need to get these 2 by 9. Let's go."
"Alright. Karen, get us some paper and a quill with ink. Sal, get us a hat or bowl. Meet us back in the Family Room."
They bow their heads, and walk away to retrieve the objects. Everyone else makes their way to the Family Room. Kevin, Sally, James and Cassandra stand in the hall by the stairs.
"Ok. This is serious. And if we want to escape, we need to stick together. Who knows how we get out? But if worst comes to worst, we vote for ourselves. Ok?" Cassandra says to them.
"Yeah. But if we want someone to go, we need to all vote for them, no matter what." Kevin adds
"So, we all know the next question, who should we vote for?" James asks.
"Who do we think needs to prove themselves" Sally asks.
"I honestly think Carl does, I mean he IS the Graverobber. We need to see if he's strong enough or dependable." Kevin says.
"That's true, but then there's also Jack. He's a little sketchy to me. I think we should vote for him." Cassandra says.
"What if we split the votes between them? So 2 of us could vote for Jack, and the other 2 vote for Carl? Does that sound good?" Sally decides.
They all agree with her. They decide that Sally and Kevin will vote for Carl, while James, and Cassandra vote for Jack. But while that's happening, Lily, Joseph, and Alex are deciding as well.
"We should vote for different people so that their chances are all equal of going in." Lily suggests.
"But what about other people's votes. If someone else votes for them, then their chances are higher." Alex points out.
"That's true."
"Let's go with Sarah, she hasn't really done anything for the group yet."
"Well none of us have."
"Yeah, but we need to decide. Fast."
"Ok. Fine, we'll go with Sarah."
And as these groups were talking, the 3 people that were getting voted for talked.
"Alright, who are we gonna go for?" Carl asks.
"I'd say Kevin. I mean, he did invite us here and now we have to die to leave." Sarah suggests.
"Ok, are you fine with that, Jack?"
"Yeah. I mean, I feel sorry for whoever dies, but I just don't want it to be me. Let's do it."
And as all groups decide, Sal and Karen come back.
"We didn't bring paper, instead we found pictures with people on them. The way the voting will work. One person will come up, choose a photo, and hand it to me. I will then move around the piles of photos so nobody know who you chose. Once I get all the cards. I will then shuffle, and lay them out. Sal will then choose 3 cards and those people will partake in the challenge." Karen explains.
Everyone says they understand.
"Cassandra, you're up."
Then came the long waiting time. First was Cassandra, then Sarah, James, Kevin, Sally, Jack, Alex, Carl, Joseph, and Lily. Everyone followed the plans, except for Jack. He voted for Carl, he simply thinks that he is too bossy.
Karen does as she said she would, and she shuffles, then lays them out on the table. Sal then takes over, and grabs 3 cards at random.
"The first card, Carl."
"I knew it."
"Second, Kevin."
"Oh my god."
"And lastly, Jack."
"Really you guys, come on."
"Now where did it say it was?"
"The second floor."
"Alright, let's go and get this done with"
