Chapter 15- Alex Meets Shay One More Time
Where is Scarlet? She didn't return yesterday. I paced in the cave. Her promise to me rang in my head. 'I will come back. I promise,' Scarlet had told me. I barely slept last night. Every tiny noise I thought was Scarlet. The rushing waterfall, the sound of a bird flying, a mouse scurrying across the cave floor. But that's when I heard it. Swimming. Scarlet is back! I couldn't contain my excitement. She may only have been gone for a day, but it is really lonely here. I was confused when I saw twins with what I hope is a sleeping Scarlet in their arms.
"Hello Alex," one of the twins smiled at me. She reached out her hand. "I am Josey and this is my sister Alyssa," she told me. They both looked exactly the same. They had blonde hair and greenish blue eyes. The only differences between them is the length of their hair. Alyssa also has a lot more freckles than Josey.
"Hi?" I greeted them questionably. "What's wrong with Scarlet?" I asked them.
"She's sleeping. Don't worry, you can trust us," Josey told me.
"Here, take her to the bed over there," Alyssa nodded towards our bed. I put Scarlet in my arms and laid her down in the bed. I pulled a blanket over her. We all sat down in the center of the cave, around the pile of wood. Alyssa snapped her fingers and a flame started.
"We need to talk," Josey told me.

Scarlet didn't wake up until the next day. "Huh?" Scarlet woke up, confused. Then she saw me. "Alex!" Scarlet chimed when she saw me. Her face brightened up automatically. She jumped up and hugged me.
"Scarlet! You're awake!" I grinned.
"I need to tell you something. Its important. There are these twins Josey and Al-"
"I know. They brought you here and explained everything," I said. "So are we going to go to them? In what three days?" I asked Scarlet.
"Yeah three days. I don't know what to do, Alex. This seems all so confusing," Scarlet sighed. "But I have good news. Sunni thinks you, King Oliver, Dawn, and her family are dead," she smiled.
"I know. Remember the fire I told you about?" I asked her.
"Yeah, but I just confirmed it," she shrugged.
"What was Sunni going to do with you? The twins wouldn't tell me," I complained.
"Oh, uh," Scarlet hesitated.
"What?" I asked. "Is it bad?"
"Well, Sunni wanted to drain my werewolf abilities to make me mortal," she shrugged like it was no big deal.
My eyes widened. "Scarlet. She could have killed you," I whispered. "I just can't imagine you dying," tears started to rush down my face.
"Oh, Alex," she whispered. "It's okay, I'm okay. I'm here now," she said softly.
"No, its not okay!" I started to yell. She is acting like this isn't a big deal! If I lost Scarlet, I wouldn't know what to do with myself. I can't bear loosing another person I love. "You go around thinking that no one can hurt you and you don't need protecting, but you just can't understand that you can use some help sometimes!" I threw my hands up in the air.
