Did I Hear That Right?

Cole left the room and I just sat there, stunned, me and Dalton together.  If I don't I'll get hurt, what the fuck?

Five minutes into my thoughts Jess came upstairs.

"Sutton you okay?"  She saw my distress.

"Yeah, I'm fine."  I lied, what she doesn't know won't kill her.

"Okay well it's getting late," I told her wanting to go to bed, I didn't need to think about this anylonger, I glanced at the clock and it was 10:30, "We should get to bed soon, I'll make bed."

"Alright, I'm gonna get ready." Jess told me before leaving for the bathroom.  I got out the spare mattress and started to make the bed when I heard a knock at the door.

"Come in"  I yellled, I wasn't sure Jess was knocking, it was her room and she walks on me changing so there really was no need to.

"Hey, can we talk?" Dalton asked me as he walked in.

"Sure, sit,"  I answered hesitantly, "just make sure Jess doesn't see you here."

"Cole told you, right?"  He asked me.

"Yeah, why did he?"  I really was wondering, was it necessary to scare the crap out of me?

"It's not exactly safe for you and you needed to know that. I don't trust Jake and his 'friends'."  He told me.

"Okay, what am I suppose to do about it?"  

"For starters, you could stay here, I stay at your house or-"  He was cut off.

"Dalton! Was I not clear, I'm fucking pissed off at you! Don't make it any worse!" Jess screamed, Dalton put his hands up in defense and walked out.

"He's a pain in my ass." she mumbled, "He can't listen for shit.

"I know, he's hella annoying." I faked laughed, But ugh, I'm one hundred percent done with today, I'm gonna sleep todays's fiascos, night." 

"Night" Jess shut off the lights and instantly passed out, once she hits the pillow she's a goner. After what seemed like hours of tossing and turning I looked over at the clock, it flashed 12:00. I couldn't sleep, Dalton was on my mind, more than ever. I quietly got up and headed towards the door, into the hallway and found myself in front of Dalton's door. I opened it trying not to make a sound.

"Dalton?" He shot up.

"Who the fuck is there?"  He answered slightly annoyed.

"It's me, I couldn't sleep."  I whispered.

"Oh, come lay down." He patted the space next to him. I walked over and laid down. He wrapped his strong arms around me, I turned into his chest. I took a deep breath and inhaled his scent. After a few minutes of listening to his heartbeat he spoke up,

"You still up?"

"Yeah, why?"

"Can we continue our conversation from before?"

 We never did finish and I wanted to know his last insane idea, "Sure, what was the third option going to be?"

"You could get an apartment... with me."  He bit his lip after telling me. Did I hear that right, he's going insane.

"Move into an apartment with you?"  I questioned.

"Yeah, I have the money and you're almost 18, it'd be nice and you'll be safe."

"We aren't that close, let alone have a relationship like that." he let out a huge sigh not wanting to deal with my problem,

"Then, Sutton Julia Robinson will you be my first official girlfriend?" I smiled into his chest, fucking finally.

"Yes" I looked up and he had a huge smile on his face.

"Now since we are bf/gf, would you like to move into an apartment with me?" I thought about it, my parents wouldn't care, I'll be 18 in a month, Jess would but hopefully she'll understand.

"Sure."  I answered him back.

"Good, we will start apartment hunting tomorrow."

That was a little early but I didn't care, "Okay, I'm tired I'm going to sleep."

"Alright." I snuggle into Dalton's chest.

"If I lay here, if I just lay here," He starts singing 'Chasing Cars' "Would you like here and forget about the world?" I smile, Dalton is mine, the boy of my dreams is mine.

Dalton's POV

I continue to sing 'Chasing Cars' until her breathing almost evens out.

"Dalton" she mumbles

"Yeah?"

"I love you" Did she just say that?

"I..I love you too." I kiss the top of her head and her breathing finally evens out. I smile and hold her closer, Lauren is mine, the girl of my dreams is mine.
