Complications

I groaned as I rubbed my head. I tried to open my eyes, but the bright light hurt. I wonder how long I'd been asleep for. I rolled over on the uncomfortable mattress. Where the hell was I? My head throbbed and I refused to open my eyes.

"Mate?" The most beautiful voice ask. I shot up to a sitting position on the mattress. My head hit into something hard which made me groan again. The soft whimper pulled me out of my pain; my eyes opened willingly to see whoever called me her mate. In front of me was the most beautiful girl in the world sitting on the bed next to me.. Her eyes were shut and she cradled her head in her hands. Her scent engulfed me; the overwhelming smell of strawberries and bananas eased the pain from my head. She had dark, brown hair that covered her face and reached, probably, her waist. Her skin was a pretty tan color, but was a natural tan. She leaned back, revealing more of her face. Her eyes were still closed as she used her left hand rubbed her head. "The first thing you do when you wake up is break your mate," She mumbled. I laughed a little, but felt guilty. Light brown freckles covered the the top of her cheeks and nose. She had a sharp jawline for a girl, but her face was sweet. Her pink plump lips were practically teasing me with the way she bit her bottom lip.

"I am so sorry," I quickly said, "I-I didn't know you were there." I took her right hand in both of mine and rubbed circles on it. Tingles shocked where my hands touched her and I faintly smiled at the proof that she was indeed my mate, even though the enchanting smell told me she was.. Brother Wolf hadn't said anything. He was practically running around in my head in excitement. She slowly opened her eyes and instantly her beautiful olive green eyes went from love to anger to fear. I looked around where I was and was completely surprised I was in the inside of a jail. She yanked her hand from my grasp and stumbled backwards towards the jail bars. She grabbed onto the bars and hissed, removing her hands from them. I looked at her hands and realized that the bars must have been drenched in sliver for them to turn red and blister that way. I stood up with my hands up in the air, showing I wasn't going to harm her.

"Do not move towards me," She growled softly. I ignored the order even though I never liked being told what to do. She was my mate, she was able to tell me what to do.

"I'm not going to hurt you. You're my mate for Goddess' sake," I assured her. She pulled gloves out of the back pocket of her blue jeans and pulled them onto her hands. She slowly made her way to the exit for the cell and opened it; her eyes never left mine. Once she was out of it, she used a key she pulled out of her front pocket. She locked the cell I was in. "Where am I?" I asked her.

"Oakwoods," She answered. I tried to think back to what had happened, but I couldn't remember any of the fight. I remember showing up here, tired and angry that I had to go with it, but after that it was blank until I woke up.

"Shit," I muttered, "What happened during the war? How many are hurt? You didn't fight, right?" She squinted her eyes when I shot out some questions.

"I need to leave," She mumbled. She turned and was about to leave, but I ran to the bars and gave her a pleading look.

"Please," I murmured, "As your mate, I have a right to know-" She glared at me before whipping her body around and giving me a deathly look.

"Let's get one thing straight, mate. You are apart of them. You will be treated like one of them even if you are my mate."

"You're going to just let them kill me?" I asked. Her eyes softened a bit before they glazed over. She was talking to someone in her pack. After a few seconds they returned to normal and she clenched her jaw.

"I have to. I know you're my mate. I feel the tingles. Sister Wolf is angry at me, but after what you have done, I can't do anything," She whispered. I didn't miss the way her voice cracked a few times throughout her answer, "I'm sorry." With that she gave me one last look before she left through the hallway and up some stairs. I sighed. Leave it to me to find my mate after having a death warrant hanging over my head. I look around Oakwood's jail. There were three cells to the right of mine and then four on the other side of the room. I was the only one in the jail. It was hot and I was sweating through the wife beater I was wearing. Wait, wife beater? I looked down at my apparel and was surprised to see I was dressed in a white wife beater and black sweatpants. I was changed before I came here. Surprisingly I wasn't uncomfortable about it because being a werewolf made you super fine with being naked in front of others. Well, actually, the girls didn't like it, but us guys were okay with it.
