*TRIGGER WARNING: self harm, suicidal thoughts*
Evan walked down the brightly lit school hallway beside his friend, Jared Kleinman. The pudgy boy with messy brown hair and glasses had been a family friend since they were toddlers. Jared was talking about some ridiculous game he had tried, but Evan's attention drifted elsewhere. Across the hall, he spotted the tall slender shape of Connor Murphy making his way down the corridor. Some gave him frightened looks, while others jeered at him. He merely told them to fuck off, and as he approached them Jared stops talking and glances at him. "Hey Connor! Lovin' the new hair length.. it's very school shooter shic." Connor glared at him before pushing past him and Evan. Evan looked over his shoulder to see Connor had turned his head too and was meeting eye contact with Evan. Evan turned away, blushing up a storm. No one knew this, but he had always had a small crush and admiration for Connor. He loved the way his dark curly hair framed his face, the way his dark colored clothing fit him perfectly. Evan was lost in thought as Jared nudged him. "Come on, homo! We're gonna be late for class." He winked at Evan and his face turned even redder. "O-okay." I mumble as we make our way to our next class across the school.

Later that day, Evan was sitting alone at a lunch table in the huge cafeteria. No one bothered to sit with him, because who would want to be see with a loser like him? Evan nibbled at his sandwich when he suddenly heard the sound of a heavy bookbag being flung on the table. He looked up startled, and realized it was Connor. "Mind if I sit here?" He said gruffly, not really a question. "U-um, sure." I stampered, looking down at my feet. Evan's face grew hot as he looked up at Connor, who was just staring at him. Finally he asked, "What happened to your arm?" Evan looked startled to be conversing with him, but he didn't want to seem rude. Especially since he was his crush after all. "I fell from a tree." He murmed. Connor narrowed his eyes at Evan. "You know, you can just say 'I jumped out of a tree', I wouldn't judge you." His voice suddenly grew soft. "I know how it feels." Evan's eyes grew wide, speechless. They stared into each others eyes, Evan admiring the sea of blue and brown in Connor's. Connor turned slightly pink, before scribbling something onto a piece of paper. He threw it to Evan. "Text me." He growled, turning away and grabbing his bag before storming out of the cafeteria. Evan was in shock; Connor had given him his number! But why? Evan got up as the lunch bell rang and continued on with his school day, unable to focus because Connor's face clouded his mind.

"Evan! I'm home!" Heidi Hanson called upstairs to her son. "Hey mom." Evan yelled, continuing to type his text to Connor. As he finished, he read it over nervously. He hit send.Evan: Hey Connor! You asked me to text you?
A few minutes go by and his phone dings.
Connor: Yeah, I was just wondering if you'd want to hang out sometime.
Evan's heart skipped a beat. Connor actually wanted to hang out with him?? How is this real? Evan responded in less than a minute, smiling widely.
Evan: That would be great! When do you want to meet up?
Connor: Well, I'm out now, so I can pick you up and we can go to my house.
Evan called nervously down to his mom. "Hey mom, I'm gonna go hang out at Jared's, is that okay?" Heidi answered quickly, seeming to be preoccupied with something. "Sure honey, just be back by midnight." Evan excitedly texted Connor back that he could go and gave him his address.
Connor: Be there in about ten minutes.
About thirty minutes later, they pull up to the Murphy house. Evan and Connor both got out of his car, and headed inside. Connor's sister, Zoe greeted him with a smug look. "I see you found a boyfriend, Connor." Connor gritted his teeth and spat, "Fuck off, Zoe." And stomped upstairs to his room. Evan looked over at her and greeted her nervously. "Hi, I'm Evan." He said. "Oh, I know who you are." She responded, giving a slight giggle. Evan looked away embarrassed. He patiently waited in the foyer for Connor to come back down, but he didn't. Evan started to get worried. He had been up there for about an hour. Zoe walked up and looked at him questionably. "Wheres Connor?" She asked. "I-I don't know." I stampered. "He went up to his room about an hour ago and hasn't came back down." Zoe's eyes darkened with fear for a second, and grabbed Evan's arm and led him upstairs. Stopping outside his door, she signaled Evan to go inside. He took a deep breath and knocked. "Connor.. it's me, Evan. Are you alright?" He didn't get a response, but instead he heard a click as the door was unlocked. Evan pushed it open slowly, taking in the room before him. He spotted Connor sitting at a desk in the far corner, puffing at a blunt. Evan walked up to him, realizing he's shaking. "Connor.." Evan began to say, but his wrist caught his eye. There were many deep slashes on the skin, and was still bleeding down his arm. "Connor!" Evan cried, rushing over to him and grabbing his arm. He turned to him with glassy, puffy eyes as if he had been crying. "Get out, Hansen." He growled lowly. Evan stared at him in panic. He didn't know what to do. "I said GET OUT!" Connor screamed at him, throwing out his arm and punching the wall, leaving a decent sized hole in the plaster. Blood ran down his knuckles as Evan scrambled to leave the room, slamming the door behind him. Zoe could see the fear in his eyes. "What happened?" She demanded. Tears began to roll down Evan's face as he spoke. "H-he... hurt himself." he buried his face in his hands, trembling. Zoe patted him gently, reassuring him Connor would be fine. She gave him her number incase anything else happened. He thanked her and walked the few blocks towards his house, grief stricken at the thought that the boy he loved hurt himself like that.. even though he didn't know it, he meant the world to Evan and he would probably never tell him. His thoughts raced. Connor.. please, please be okay.
