I felt nervous the whole week. Kai could tell I was off and tried to comfort me. Nothing worked. I was unable to face Jeremiah and receive the consequences. One day I had asked Kai, why he disliked Allock so much.
"Allock and I have never gotten on the right foot. He was always so careless with his magic and one day he went too far and I had to banish him,"
"I don't understand, he's a warlock. How would you have power over him? And what did he do wrong?"
"He was the son of a witch and a werewolf and never got any of the were genes. I allowed him to stay with us because his father was a great warrior. He ended up casting the wrong spell one day and it killed a little girl," Kai's eyes grew dark and I placed a soft hand on his biceps. He calmed down and continued.
"That was a little over a year ago,"
"I had no idea.."
"Most dont, I kept the story quiet,"
"What happened to the girls parents?"
"They were devastated. They're still here though and they have a little boy now. You met them actually! The redheads, Johnson's?" He looked at me questioning my memory. Their faces popped up and I nodded.
"Oh yes! I remember them! They're little boy is named Jackson!" I recalled.
"You're going to make a fine Luna," he leaned back and threw and arm over me staring at the screen.
"Just for remembering faces?"
"No.. because you care, and you love,"
"Doesn't everyone?"
"Not everyone is a pure and innocent angel like you sweetie,"
I took in his words and began to think. My mind wandered and I tried to remember what it was about this world that had made it so special. Heaven is so nice. We don't have violence or hate. We spread love and it's always positive. It's a Utopia but earth is a dystopian. I giggled to myself remembering those words from Caroline's English homework. I was disrupted from my thoughts by a pair of lips on my neck. Kai has gotten very restless and more aggressive with the.. sexual stuff.
"Kai.." I moaned. A little out of pleasure and a little out of annoyance. Ever since he told me about sex, I've been straight down the middle between "oh heck yes" and "oh heck no".
"You just look so hot,"
"You say that all the time,"
"Cause you look hot all the time!"
I rolled my eyes and crossed my arms. He growled and pulled away. I know he told me that mates normally conclude the sex at a very early stage but I'm still sticking by my religion. No sex till marriage. He completely respected that and when I told him, he proposed on the spot. I laughed at the memory and looked at him. My mind flashed back to that specific memory.
"Aria, will you marry me?" Kai got down on his knee with a painful boner raging. I was sitting on the bed embarrassed and flushed.
"Kai you don't even have a ring, and aren't we supposed to like be together longer?" I questioned today's society judgement.
"For humans but we know we're already meant together. If I get a ring will you say yes?" I laughed and nodded my head.
"Sure!"
I was pulled from my memories by Kai poking me.
"What are you laughing at??"
"Remember that time you tried to propose to me because you were very horny and you just wanted the sex," I laughed and covered my mouth.
"I was desperate, what can I say? I still need to get that ring,"
The door open and we both looked over our shoulders. Beta John came in with his mate, Mary.
"Hey guys!" I called out, waving from the couch. Mary set a bag on the counter and I realized what it was. From my time being here, I established a new favorite food! CHICKEN!! I jumped from the couch and ran to the KFC bag.
"Oh Mary bless your heart, are you sure you're not the angel?" I hugged her and dug into it.
"Stop flattering.... but do continue," she joked and we laughed.
"Hello to you too Aria," John said a little salty.
"Hello John," I gave him a brief hug and grabbed a wing. Just as I was about to bite into it, the sweet piece of meat was ripped from my hands and in the hands of a thief named Kai.
"Kai!" I wailed and slapped his side. He laughed with a mouthful of chicken.
"You're so nasty," I fired.
"Your words cut deep babe," and he continued to gnaw on the wing.
"You guys ready for movie night?" Mary asked.
"Heck yes! What's the choice?" I asked.
"Texas Chainsaw Massacre," responded John. Ooh I've never heard of it. Kai glanced at John with a weary look.
"Ooh I've never seen it, I'm excited!" I clapped my hands and John and Mary chuckled.
"This isn't exactly a happy movie, Aria," Kai warned.
"What do you mean?"
"It's a horror movie.. it's meant to scare people," Mary filled in the blanks.
"But why would people want to watch that?" Sometimes I really felt like a clueless child with all of these questions.
We settled down on the couch and I munched into my chicken, awaiting the new mystery.
Not once, did I leave Kai's arm. Screams filled my head and I was mortified. What a horrific movie.
"Hey, Aria, it's over. You can come out of hiding now," Kai joked pulling me away. He saw my face and became concerned.
"Hey, why are you crying?"
"Why would they just kill like that?!" I sobbed. My heart wrenched for those poor souls.
"Oh godsshhh..." Kai corrected himself, "hey it's just a movie ok?" He looked up at John and Mary and I felt a hand stroke my back. I looked over to see Mary comforting me.
"Honey, it's ok. People do bad stuff and there's no explanation sometimes. Other times, they do bad stuff for the right reason," Mary calmed
"But that doesn't make sense. Why wouldn't people just do the right thing?" I asked. The three seem to sit there in silence and I got a little upset. I stood up and faced them.
"This world is nothing like heaven! There is so much hatred and violence and killing for no reason! Why? Why do you guys feel the need to hate?" I know it wasn't there fault but I felt angry and they were just.. there. I glared at them as a burning occupied my chest. Realizing I was mad, I stopped. I was mad. I relaxed my facial features and stared at them.
"Oh.. oh I'm sorry. I don't know what happened," I stared at my shaking hands as the room still remained silent. What is happening to me?
"Please excuse me," I dismissed my self and ran up the stairs.
I'm changing.
I'm becoming more like them.
