"Do not try and escape again,"

"Why won't you let me go?" I wailed. He turned me around to face him and grabbed my face. His rough skin met my soft face and I felt it. Slow chills spilled all over my body and I closed my eyes. Opening them slowly i pooled into his. I knew why.

"You're my mate, I cannot let you go,"

Suddenly, everything was cold and I took a sharp gasp. I was struggling to breathe and it felt like my soul had been drained. Cold chills covered my body and I was unable to stop shaking.

"Aria, are you ok? What's going on?" He asked concerned. He pulled his hand away once he felt his cold I was but put it back. All I could do was stare at him in pain.

"Aria speak, why are you so cold?" Suddenly it was over and I could breath. I collapsed in his chest and felt my core temperature go back up. He hugged me concerned trying to warm me up. I raised my hand to look at it behind his back. There were tiny traces of black on my fingertips but they disappeared.

"I'm sorry," I finally spoke.

"What was that?" He asked a little agitated.

"Looks like you broke the first commandment, might want to be careful doll," Allock's voice sounded in my head, "I'm on my way, better get lover boy out of there,"

Panic rose in me and I quickly shoved him off.

"You must leave now!" I panicked. If he wasn't before he definitely was now confused.

"What are you talking about? I'm not leaving! What's going on?!" He grabbed me and forced me to look at him

"Please, I don't want him to hurt you! Go!" I grabbed his face and caressed it while I spoke.

"Who?" He demanded.

"Me?" And the voice that was in my head was now standing behind my mate. My mate turned around to deliver a swift punch and Allock went flying across into a tree. My mate grabbed me and I was pushed behind him. I peeked out from behind his arm to stare at the scene. His hand wrapped around my arm gently and I felt warm.

"Oh Kai, always so impromptu," Allock chuckled. He rubbed his jaw and stood up. Kai? That's his name.

"Kai?" I spoke softly. His head jerked towards me and our eyes locked.

"Ah right! You guys just met! Ah young love, how precious... how sickening," Allock gripped his staff and Kai turned his attention away.

"What are you doing here warlock?" Kai took a defensive stance and I fumbled in my pockets for the prize.

"Ah, you see your little mate here was sent by me, albeit I didn't know she was your mate at the time. Irony does play in many cards," Kai glanced down at me, unhappy. I avoided his gaze and stepped out.

"Don't be mad at her. She had no choice, people of her.... specialty.... have really no choice. Sad. I threatened her life if she didn't do this, so really," Allock shot a nasty grin, "be mad at me,"

"I'm so sorry Kai," his name rolled of my tongue so easily. I was more ashamed of what I had done, now than ever.

"Don't apologize, I'm not mad at you," Kai then growled at Allock, "I'm mad at him," without another thought, Kai charged at Allock. He got a nasty punch in that knocked him to the ground. He then picked him up and threw Allock again. His body slammed into a tree and a loud grunt was heard. I watched in horror before flinging myself in front of Kai to stop his next hit.

"STOP!" I yelled!! Kai froze, afraid that if he moved he might hit me because of how close I was. He stumbled back a bit and Allock laughed. I heard a snap and he was behind me. He took a fistful of my hair and I cried in pain for the third time today.

"See... people of her.. nature... can't stand pain or violence being afflicted on other people," Kai started growling as I looked at him in pain.

"Let her go right now Allock. Take what you needed and leave," I heard a low chuckle and then his hands were on me. I whimpered as I tried to fight his touch going down to my pocket. Pulling out the necklace, Allock whispered words in my ear and disappeared. I stumbled back a bit but Kai caught me.

"Are you ok?" He asked worried, searching me for unknown scrapes or bruises. I nodded rubbing my head where Allock pulled my hair. He gently gripped my neck and pulled my head to him. Laying a kiss on the tender spot, warmth filled me again.

"Let's go back ok?" He picked me up and I rested against his chest.

"What does he mean by your people...?" Kai asked.

"I can't say.." I told him again.

"Why?" He was clearly frustrated.

"I just can't. There are certain rules.." I started then stopped.

"Why did he want my mother necklace?"

"I do not know. All I know is that he showed me a picture, gave me information on how to get it and said if I didn't, he would end my life," he also said, he would get me back but I kept that to myself.

Kai was silent for a few moments before he spoke again.

"That what's my mothers necklace, that she gave to Caroline. It was a rare red ruby and it meant the world to her," guilt hit me even worse now. I had no idea how I was going to face Caroline now.

"Rare and as special as it is, I would have stolen and given it away a million times if it meant saving your life," he mumbled. My heart fluttered and I looked up at him. I smiled softly and wrapped myself with my arms.

"But I would go and get it back for Caroline, even if it meant losing my life," I confronted him.

"No absolutely not!" He growled. He set me down and opened the door to his house.

"Your life is more important," he gripped my hand as we walked through. His hand was huge but my tiny one seemed to fit perfectly in it.
