My life in the new town

Chapter 8: Who my neighbour is

It could't be true. I just stared at them until his dad started talking. I already knew our neighbours.

''I'm David, this is my wife Jessica and our sun Adam.'' his dad told.

''Nice to meet you! My name is Ashley and this is my daughter Hilary.''my mom told.

''Nice to meet you too.'' they told.

''Come on take a seat at the table. Dinner is ready in 30 minutes.'' my mom tells while pointing to the table.

We sat down at the table.I was sitting next to Adam. Our parents talked about how good is the life in this little town.That it is a quite quiet city and it's not far from Los Angeles so you can go there anytime you need someting or it is even good to work there. Then my mom went out to the kitchen.

''Hilary, you two go to the same school,right?'' Jessica asked.

''Yeah that's, right.'' I answered her.

''And what do you think about this school? Do you like it? It's better then your old school?''  David asked.

''Well I'm in this school just for a few days, but until now I can say that I like it, it's pretty good. It's different from my old school but I like it as well as the old one.'' I told him.

''I understand. I think that it's quite hard to be the new student at the middle of the semester, isn't it?'' Jessica asked and Adam just stared at me and smiled.

''Well it was and it still is but I can manage it it's not that hard. Already found friends and enemies too.'' I told them laughing and Adam started laughing too.

''That went fast.'' Adam told.

''Yeah.'' I told.

''At her second day she met Victoria and the had a really big argument.'' Adam told laughing.

''Yeah that's right! And till that we can say that we became enemies.'' I told them.

"What about your husband? We never saw him." Jessica asked my mother.

"He died in a car accident almoust two months ago." my mom told them.

"Ohh, we're so sorry." said Jessica.

"How happend?" asked David.

"Sorry, but I don't want to talk about it yet."

"Sure, we understand you don't have to talk about it if you don't want. And sorry for bringing up subject."  said Jessica.

"Okey, no problem." my mom said and smiled.

While they were talking about this I got sad but I didn't wanted them to see me crying so I just acted like it didn't bothered me anymore.

Dinner was really delicious but I didn't even pay attention to the conversation because I was thinking about how could that be possible that Adam is my neighbour and I live here for almost a week and I didn't realised until now.

"Hilary" my mom called out.

"Yes mom?" I asked her.

"Would you please bring the dessert into the dining room?" she asked. I nodded and went into the kitchen. I heard Jessica telling to Adam to come and help me and the I heard footsteps enterng the kitchen. wheen I look up I see Adam smirking while walking towards me.

"You look nice." he tells me.

"Thanks...you told me to dress up nice before I come down, because you knew that you're comming here with your parents"  I tell him and start laughing.

"Yeah, that's true." he tells me simply.

"You didn't told me that you're comming over to dinner. Why?" I ask him.

"Because I wanted to see your reaction to this. But it worth not telling you you must have seen yourself you was so shocked when you saw me." he tells.

"Yeah, sure." I giggle.

"So what's the dessert?" he asks me.

"It's tiramisu." I answer him smiling.

"That's good! Tiramsu is one of the best deserts."

"Yeah, it's my favourite." I tell him. 

Then I grabbed the tiramisu and Adam the plates and the napkins and we went back into the living room. After dessert was served our parents keept on talking and we decided to go out in the garden. So we went outside and sat down at the stairs. Our garden isn't very big but I like it very much. We talked about different things we were having fun. I ike to talk with Adam somehow I feel so good when I talk with him.

"Do you know what problem has Victoria with me?" I ask him suddenly.

"You already know that, you heard today in the parking lot when she camed there and asked why are you talking with me and Zac. Anyway she has problem with everybody who talks with someone from the in-crowd."  Adam tells.

"Yes but she hates me because I talk with you, after our argument when we were in thhe director's office too she told me that you're her boyfriend and to live you alone." I tell him sadly and I look in his bright blue eyes.

"Well that's not true, she's not my girlfriend anymore. We used to be together from the 9th grade, but at the end of the 10th grade we broke up. Until then she wants to be my girlfriend again and she tries all the time to get back together. But I don't like her anymore in that way and she can't understand it. She used to be different back then but now I barely recognise her. Just don't care what she wants and let her talk alone." he tells me and I can see in his eyes that he's telling the truth. 

"Ohh I understand now. So that's why she doesn't want me to talk with you." I tell him.

"Yeah-" he couldn't finish his sentence because her mom yells

"Adam come on we're leaving!" we stand up and went to the front door.

We said goodbye to them and then I helped my mother with the dishes and after I told goodnight to her I made my way up to my room. I changed out into my pajamas and I laid down on my bad staring up at the ceiling.  I was thinking about this day, about what happend and I still couldn't believe that Adam is my neighbour. I am happy that I find out more about Adam, that I know about his past with Victoria and that he doesn't want to be with her anymore.

Then my iPhone started ringing and I saw that I have a new massage.

It was from Adam he wrote 'Good night Hilary! I had fun today.'

I responded 'Good night Adam. Me too.' and then I fell asleep.
