"Cora, come on. You know you want to be in the games too. Oliva, Sadie, and Callie are all in. Don't be a little bitch like you always are. Come on." Grace says to me while walking to French class.
"Why are we even doing this? Its not like it matters what we weigh right?"
"Everyone thinks we're fat asses, come on. Do it. You want Conner to ask you to Prom this year right? Well he won't cause your fat. "
I only weigh 165 pounds, which most of it is muscle from swimming so much these past few years.
I look at her and sigh. "Fine, fine. What do we need to do? Well what is the game really?"
"Whoever gets skinniest the fastest. Calorie count everything you eat and get skinny." She smiles at me wickedly. She tosses her long blonde hair over her shoulder and walks into her spanish class which is next to my french one.
I walk into my french class and the teacher greets me, I've had her since I started my freshman year. She is sassy, sweet, and she cared about everyone in her class even the kids who could care less about learning french.
I set my books down and smile back at her and get out my homework to go turn it in.
"How are you today Cora?" She asks while I had my back to her. "I'm great! Tonight I have swimming but before I'm getting some new suits." I'm not looking at her but I could feel her smile. "What color do you think your going to get for them?" "Green, its my favorite color." She then gets behind her desk and turns on some french music. The hour ticks by and final period was over. When I walk out of French I bump into Conner, the boy I've liked since the begining of Sophmore year. As a junior, and this being the first week of school I smile at him and ask how his summer was. I live in Tampa, Flordia and the weather always makes me happy. Today I wore a light green crop top with cahki shorts, my brown hair had a flower crown in it which was white. My hair was curled and my green eyes were lined with black eye liner. My grey vans which were completely ruined were a great addition to this outfit. Conner smiles at me, his tan skin gleams with sweat and he pushes his blonde hair out of the way of his brown eyes. "It was great, but I'll see you at the skate park tonight right? Your going to be doing pictures again please?? They were sick last weekend." He looks at me and his smile grows larger and his dimples show. "I'm going after swimming so I'll be there at around 7:30 ish." I smile push my hair back over my shoulder. "I'll see you then, bye Cora. " He then shouts "Get outta my way!!" He puts his board down and skates away waving bye to me. I sigh of relief and smile like a complete idiot.
Sadie comes up behind me and screams, "He is TOTALLY INTO YOU!!" She smiles and wraps her arms around me. Sadie is a tall girl with super short pink hair, today she was wearing a tie dye shirt with black capris on. She's a complete stoner but she doesn't care what anyone says. "Your in the games right? We cannot do it without you!!" I nod and my smile vanishes.
"You don't have to if you don't want to you know that right?" I nod again and she lets her grip go of me. "Don't let Grace get to you, shes an evil bitch sometimes right?" She laughs and then says goodbye as she walks towards her locker. I walk down the stairs of a way too familar place, Linal Valley High School has been here since 2008 so it's still pretty new. The new technology, the new paint, the new teachers. I got here for the first time ever in 2012. I will graduate in 2016, right now its 2014, and its a great year so far. Even though Gabe and I broke up in April, I still am motivated to get to the top and be with Conner. Gabe and I were dating for over a year. We got together the begingin of my freshman year and we broke up towards the end of my sophmore year. Hes a senior this year, he is Conner's best friend, and he is a skate boarder who competes, He was the one who got me into taking pictures of them. I smile at the memory of the first pictures I took. Speaking of the devil he has Addison Harley smashed against her locker and his tounge down her throat. I cringe and look away as fast as I could. She was always all over him at parties even while we were dating. He is only with her to get down her pants and I hope she knows that.
Once I'm at my locker I get all my stuff in my bag and then walk towards the doors of the school. My phone buzzes and I pull it out of my pocket to see Olivia texted me.
-I'm starting tonight! Starting with only 1500 calories!! What about you? (;
I text back that I'm not starting till tomorrow, I still don't feel completely right about this idea. Conner seems like he likes me no matter what. Even if I wasn't the skinniest. I walk out of the doors and I see my big green pick up truck across the parking lot. I slide my phone back into my back pocket and walk towards the truck. As I get closer I see Gabe is standing against my truck smoking a cigarette. "Cora, baby. I'm sorry. I want you back." He says as I walk right past him. "No you don't. Go away Gabe." He then grabs my wrist. "Cora, come back please." His grip hurt my wrist and I winced. "Gabe, leave me alone. Go make out with Addison again please. I don't love you anymore." I say coldly to him, "You just stopped loving me? How can you do that baby? I love you I need you please." He was drunk, I could smell the alcohol on his breath. "Gabe, your drunk. Let me drive you home please. " He agrees to let me drive him but he presses me against my truck. "Cora baby please, kiss me." He leans in but I duck away and jump into my truck. He walks around to the passenger side and gets in. I may hate him, but I wouldn't let him drive drunk. "I can't believe you came to school drunk. You are pathetic you know that?" He nods and buckles up. When I start my truck he sighs. "I'm sorry Cora, please. Stay over tonight? Please baby, I miss you in my arms." "No! Get out. Now." I am already halfway to his house. I pull to the side of the road. "Cora? What the fuck? You are such a bitch!" He gets out and slams the door and begins to walk away. I then turn around and go straight to swimming. I didn't want to deal with shopping, not right now.
I feel my phone vibrate as I pull back into the school parking lot and I check it once I'm parked again its from Callie.
I'm going to win these games! I cannot wait to be super skinny!!
