"Dr. Ziegler needed in medical bay 2, Dr. Ziegler needed in medical bay 2." The intercom sounded throughout the small room.
"Guess that's my cue." She said, getting up to leave.
"Bye Dr. Ziegler!" One man said.
"Good luck!" Others called.
"You can do this girl!" Another woman persuaded her.
"I can do this. I am a doctor, I am the doctor. I will do this." She thought to herself as she walked down the long corridor. "You are Dr. Angela Ziegler, you can do this. You are Overwatch's head doctor. You can do this!" She tried to calm herself down. This was her first patient as head doctor.
Once she had reached the room, a nurse there turned to her and said, "There you are Dr. Ziegler, we've been waiting for you."
"Okay, first patient, this is the fever checkup right?" She asked to reassure herself.
"You're a funny one Dr. Ziegler. 'First patient'. You're the head doctor, you've done this tons of times. This is the heart transplant." He said, laughing casually.
"Hear transplant?! What do you mean heart transplant? This is my first appointment! I'm not qualified to do a heart transplant, I need proper training!" She said starting to get nervous.
"What were the years of college not enough experience? You always find a way to make me laugh Dr."
"But I'm telling the truth!" She screamed. "I can't do this! I can't do this!"
Angela Ziegler sat up in a cold sweat gasping for breath. Reaching over to pick up the clock it read "3:37 am". She still had a couple more hours of sleep. Her body exhausted, her mind restless. Work started at 7:30. She wanted to get up at 5:30. That way she had an hour and a half to get ready, and a half our to drive to work, and if she got there early, time to wait. She liked to be on time as much as she could.
Many years of hard work, dedication, and persuasion got her here. She went to college and spent over eight years to study to become a doctor, and now here she was. She had been chosen from this new elite group. This new task force that was supposedly going to stop the Omnic Crisis. She looked it over, it payed well, and needed a doctor, with the additional fact that she'd be saving the world. The Omnics had been becoming a major problem, and the world desperately needed saving. It was falling apart. Today was her first day. So no pressure, but she and this group was apparently supposed to save the world. Maybe her brain did have a reason to be restless.
She rolled over trying to fall back to sleep. She sat there thinking, "I'm going to get to save the world. I will be a hero. We will be heroes. We are going to save the world." She smiled and fell back to sleep. She had no idea what the future held in store for her, or for any of them.
"Bweep, bweep, bweep." Angela's alarm clock rang. Just in time too. Not a second too late, she hit the off button, and set it for the next day. Her first day had just begun. She set her watch a timer, 90 minutes and she was out of the house.
Once she set her bed, and got her clothes she had picked out last night, something nice and fancy but not something that didn't make her look like she was too excited, but something that also made her look like she wanted this job. After spending a good time deciding it was the clothes she wanted, she then went to the closet, and pulled out a towel. Started the shower and got ready. 90 minutes later, Angela was out the door.
Getting into the car, she thought about how the release of Hover Cars had just been announced. "The future is now! Hover Cars will soon replace your old and boring ground cars!" She recalled a commercial ad saying. "Yeah sure, like cars will hover. Next watch a man level a skyscraper!" She laughed.
Arriving five minutes early to the building, she parked her car and walked up to the doors of the big building. Zürich, a fairly small little city, had the building inside. The building is supposedly the Head Quarters of the new organization. She didn't knew the founders fairly, but there were also newcomers like her. If any of them were like her, picked for a profound future, she'd probably get along with them. She wasn't an extravert, but she did like to communicate with other human beings. She had been told she was quite nice to be around, and usually attracted attention. Whether it be or good looks, or better personality. So standing at the front doors to the large H.Q. she was a little nervous.
Opening the doors, and walking through the lobby, the building was even larger inside. With beautiful paintings, plants, windows, and colors. It was magnificent. She didn't exactly know where to go, so she just sat down and waited with her hands crossed.
"Excuse me are you Ms. Ziegler?" A young man asked her. He was well dressed in a light blue and white suit, and stood confidently.
"Yes, yes I am." She answered him.
"Please, if you may follow me this way." As the two of you began walking he then said, "You're the head doctor right?"
"Yes I am, I interviewed a couple weeks ago. Guess I did well, because I'm here now." She said smiling.
A couple of weeks ago Angela had gotten an email saying that she was wanted as head doctor of Overwatch. Overwatch had already made a small name of itself, and it's knowledge was almost worldwide. So when she had found out that she had been requested to join it, it sounded like a miracle. She had been super surprised at first, her, why did they want her, what had she done to impress them. Other than get a Nobel Prize, and other major awards in Switzerland, and worldwide. She didn't like to brag, but she was smart, extremely intelligent in a group of strenuous topics. It was a request though, and it required a interview, so she went, and interviewed. Looks like she passed if she was there.
"Alright, here you are." He said stopping in front of a room. The room had double doors with the Overwatch symbol on each one. A circular form, in silver, that met up in the middle but didn't connect. the top was separated and golden. An interesting symbol, but one that stood for peace and prosperity.
"If you don't mind me asking, where exactly is here." She questioned the man, as he began to reach for the handle.
"Well as I presume you already know, we are in the Overwatch Head Quarters, and you're about to meet with the founding members, and then the other new members, like yourself. I am just here to escort you all to this room."
"Oh, why thank you." She studied him to see if he had a name plate or something, but saw nothing. She didn't know how to thank him for his graciousness, and kindness he had given her. She already felt welcome. The man opened the doors, and she stepped in. Angela Ziegler had just started her journey as head doctor of Overwatch, and took a step closer to saving the world.
