Part Fifteen: Summer

That night comes back in flashes. One second I was standing on my own two feet and we were arguing. The next I felt his hands against my chest knocking the wind out of me, pushing me backwards, exerting an opposite force so great, that it triggered the last thing I remember to happen. I flew into the bookcase. It hit me or more correctly I hit it, then I thought I heard Theo's voice before I blacked out. Do you remember how I said I watched my sister Everleigh go through this cycle of an abusive relationship? She got hurt worse than I did she got dangled over a busy street by her neck. Her boyfriend said that he never planned to drop her, his hand slipped. Everleigh died when I was thirteen and she was seventeen. She's been gone for four years now, she's my reason to survive to want to live so that I can do what she didn't have the chance to do. Get away from Conner. I need to get out. My eyes are open. I never decided to open them but okay. I'm in a hospital and my head is killing me I turned my head and I see a flash of golden hair and green eyes. I wake up to Aly sitting in the cushy hospital provided visitor chair. She's wearing a hospital gown herself. I say "Hey Aly" and she smiled and said "Hey, do you want the good news or the bad news first there's more good news than there is bad." I say "Bad news first please." she took a deep breath and said "You have a serious concussion, three broken ribs and a fractured wrist, they need to keep you here for a few more nights." I say "That's all the bad news?" Alyson nodded then she took another deep breath and said "Okay so Axel and Ryan are engaged and we get to be in the wedding, obviously when we get out of here. Your injuries are going to heal quickly and you're set to make a full recovery and the last piece of good news is I'm having a girl!"  I couldn't believe that she was having a girl and I was so excited the she was because I had hoped it would be a girl from the start. Then I asked " Aly what are you doing here, why are you in the hospital?" she said "There's one more piece of news that I didn't tell you, Scarlet and Regan are in the hospital, they were in a car accident and they both have serious injuries. Regan had a piece of metal stuck in her middle and the same happened to Scarlet but that was a piece of glass they're still operating on Scarlet and Regan is in critical but stable condition. I'm here because I saw them when they came in all covered in blood and looking like they were dead, I passed out and that might have caused my placenta to tear and my doctors wanted to monitor me because I'm only 29 weeks so it would be very bad if I went into labor at my current point in pregnancy." I sat there in bed shaken up because of all I had just taken in then I asked "What time is it?" Aly looked up and said "6:30 on Sunday morning so your parents shouldn't be here for a few more hours because of church." then she looked up again and said "Oh shoot I have to go, I have an ultrasound scheduled for 6:45 and I can't miss it I'll see you later Summer." she kissed me on top of the head and then she left. I turned over and went back to sleep. I knew that I had to tell someone about Conner I just didn't know who.
