Michael has been rounding up a team to go after the Others, to go get Walt back. He's asked Sawyer, Jack and Kate to go with him. Those three make sense. Jack is the unconventional leader, Sawyers has guns and is a good shot and Kate is an amazing tracker and a very good shot herself. But what I don't understand is why he's asked me and Hurley along.
Don't get me wrong, I think Hurley is one of the nicest guys around, but to bring on a hunting trip? Myself included. I've never really handled weapons before, aside from maybe a small knife. I'm not a tracker like Kate, a leader like Jack or a killer like James.
Michael approached me when I was with Sawyer, like I usually am, asking if I would go with them.
"Why would I go?" I asked rather confused.
"Yeah, Michael she doesn't need to go, if you want a 5th member why not ask Syaid?" Sawyer countered.
"No! It's my son I get to decide and I'd like for you to go with us Emelia" Michael snapped. Me and Sawyer exchanged odd looks.
"Why do you want me to go Michael? I can't handle a gun well, I can't track, if anything I'd just slow you down" I try to reason.
"Just pack a bag, you're coming" Michael answers.
"Hey! Don't be tellin her what to do" Sawyer glares at him, watching as he walks away.
"Maybe he wants me to come for Walt, a sort of mothering figure or something" I think out loud to Sawyer.
"Yeah well, I'm not sure why he wants you to come. But I want you to stay close to me if you do come. No tellin what'll be out there" Sawyer tells me, looking at me as if I'm a broken puppy.
"James, don't worry, I'm a big girl and can handle myself"
So after the funeral, and Desmond's drunken return, we head off for Walt. Sawyer hands me a hand gun and shows me how to shoot it. He also very sternly tells me it's for close range defense only. He probably thinks I'd shoot myself or our friends if the person isn't right in front of me. He's probably right.
It's a long walk, one I'm not very fond of, but I walk in front of Sawyer and behind Kate. As we walk along a creek the terrain becomes muddy and a bit harder to walk on. Sawyer for the most part keeps a hand on my waist to stop me from slipping and falling.
I almost fall into the creek when Kate abruptly stops and begins firing into the tree line across the creek. We all get down as Kate and Sawyer start firing and we see one of the Others go down.
"Alright, I'm turning back" Hugo announces.
"I'll go with you" I tell him walking over to him.
"No! You can't!" Michael calls.
"We aren't needed here. You don't needs us" I protest.
"Actually, he does" Jack chirps in.
"He's leading us into a trap, aren't you Michael?" Jack says knowingly.
"You knew and didn't bother to tell us?" Sawyer snaps at him.
"I couldn't, I didn't want Michael to think we didn't trust him. But don't worry, I have a plan but Hurley and Emelia I need you to stay in order for that plan to work. Please" Jack asks us, a pleading look in his eyes. I sigh and agree to stay, I turn towards Hugo and he agrees to do the same.
Michael tries to apologies but none of us want to hear it. We then start to walk through an open field, where a large pillar of black smoke can be seen off in the distance.
"Jack, what's that?" I ask pointing towards the smoke.
"That's Syaid's signal fire...its miles away. Where are you leading us Michael?" Jack asks turning towards him. He opens his mouth to say something when something whizzes through the air.
"Run!" I scream as we all take off running back across the field. I don't make it very far before I'm hit in the back. Lucky for me I was right in front of a waiting Sawyer, who caught my convulsing body as large waves of electricity ran through my spine, sending pain through my body.
All I could remember was Sawyer holding me as I blacked out in his arms.
When I awoke, it was with a bag over my head, my arms tied behind my back, my body laying on what felt like a wooden surface.
"Emelia, wake up. Come on, wake up" I heard Sawyer's voice tell me. I stirred a bit and tried to sit myself up. Someone grabbed me by the back of my shirt and pulled me up to my knees, and removed the bag from my heads.
"Sorry, we didn't realize how small you are" An old man says from in front of me, standing with a group of ratty looking people with guns, and the man who was taken hostage.
"Ah yes, hello Emelia. I don't believe we've been properly introduced. My name is Benjamin Linus and these are my people" He says gesturing towards the people in front of us. I look to the sides of me and see the others kneeling like I am on the sides of me, Sawyer on my left.
"Michael betrayed us and just left on a boat with Walt" Sawyer mumbles to me. I'm about to ask where we are but a white purplish light and a piercing high pitched noise start to surround us in the sky. I bend forward trying to cover myself and as I do I feel Sawyer's body bending over top of mine. Once it stops I feel like I'm in a bit of a daze, watching absently as they let Hurley leave.
Sawyer was worried, he could see the absent look in Emelia's eyes as the Others forced them to stand and put the bags back over their heads one by one, but as far as Sawyer could tell they left her alone. It was only when he heard a decent thud from in front of him did he realize she had fainted. He was about to demand that they bring her to him when the bag was removed from his head. He watched, rage in his eyes as they untied her limp form and his hands as well.
"Mr. Ford, you will be carrying Ms. Dawson back to our camp" Ben told him with a sly smirk on his face. Sawyer only glared at them and bent down, picking up Emelia's limp form off the dock and into his arms. Carrying her as they lead them onto boats, on the boats is when they drugged him and their friends once again. Although he wouldn't admit it, he was glad they let her stay in his arms when they drugged him.
