I felt the blood rushed from my face when I saw who was calling. I was afraid to answer. I looked at Shawn and he raised his brows in confusion. I answered.
"Hello." I said in a soft voice.
" Where the fuck are you?" She yelled. "I bet your fat ass is off somewhere eating huh? Hello bitch, I'm talking to you."
"I-uh. I' I'm not coming home." My vision starts to blur.
"Ohhhh, yes the fuck you are bitch, you gots shit to do around here. You one ungrateful motherfucka you know, I told yo hoe ass mother not to leave yah bastard ass here." She screamed.
"Sorry, Aunt Jo." Is all I could say.
"You finna' bring your fat ass back to the house right the fuck now, or we gon' have a problem."
Beep, beep beep
I slowly removed to phone from my ear and looked at Shawn.
"You ran away." He stated
"Yeah, it's no big deal really, just wanted to go as far away as possible from her." I said picking our plates up and putting them in the sink.

"But your file said-"
"The fucking file said what? That I'm in a loving home and I just acted out because I crave attention?" I said slamming my hands on the counter, I became furious. "Well what the stupid little file didn't add was what they do to me in that house. NO ONE CARES ABOUT MY FUCKING SIDE OF THE STORY, so no you do not know everything there is to know about me." I wasn't crying because I was sad, I was crying because I'm fucking pissed. I ran back to my room and lay in the bed until I fell asleep but woke up because of the same dream with my mom.

--------------
"Please don't do this." I begged Aunt Jo.

"Shut up, don't you want to be beautiful?" She asked while dropping a case of water be my feet.

"Please." I pleaded

"This case of water should keep you going for one week. I'm only doing this because I love you sweetheart." She said.

"No you don't." I said to her.
Then her hand connected with my face.

"Look you big bitch, you need to lose the extra lbs. Did know a person can go without food for three fucking weeks?" She smiled at me.

"Please, I promised I'll behave, I won't eat anything, just don't do this to me. Please."

"You better shut the fuck up." She raised her hand threatening to hit me again.

She locked the basement door behind and yell. " It's the only way yfatty. You'll be beautiful after this"

--------------
I sat on the bed and thought of that day. I was just 12. I hated that woman with all my gut.
"Fuck her." I mumbled.
I got off the bed and grabbed the headphones I stole from the plane, the blanket then head to the balcony. It was was 2:37am when I saw the time on my phone.
I started listening to some old school R&B and sang along to ones I know the words. As I was sitting looking at the still ocean with only the moonlight to reflecting on it. A tap on my shoulder scared me.

"Hey, sorry, I knocked." Shawn said.
I removed my headphones and looked at him. He was wearing basket ball shorts, a white T and a du-rag.
"Sorry, Had the headphones on" I said
"Here, thought you might need this." He pulled a bonnet out of his pocket.
I laugh before saying "you're a life saver."
"May I?" He asked before sitting next to me and taking half my blanket.

"Sorry for yelling at you." I said softly "I'm just sleep deprived, so your gonna have a cranky wife."
I heard him chuckled.
"I understand. Sorry for just.....assuming things." He said. "Just in case you ever want to talk, I'm... here."
"Thank you. I never exactly had a friend before." I said.

I looked at him and I can tell he meant it. I trusted him, and I decided to tell him. All the things Aunt Jo did to me.

"Damn." he said trying to avoid eye contact. He was silent.

"My tattoo." He said.
"What?" I asked
"My butterfly tattoo the one on my neck." He said pointing to it.
"Oh yeah, why a red butterfly?" I said.
"Well, it can mean two things. A powerful soul or dangerous being."
"Which one are you?"
"The same as you, a powerful soul." He looked into my eyes and kissed me on the forehead.
"And two powerful souls make a dangerous being."
