You were at the BAU until midnight with Spencer. The case you and the team tried to solve was driving everyone to the edge, and you could see it taking a toll on him as well.
The Unsub had gone undetected for quite some time and you have had to do some serious digging to find anything about him. He had killed 10 people but made sure there were virtually no witnesses around, and he seemingly had a clean record...that was until many hours later Garcia found some leads on him. Something, probably a drastic or traumatic event in his life made his killings more sporadic and unorganized. He started leaving the body's behind, and once, Hotch found a metal bat which later had a males finger print on it after running an analysis.
This one finger print sent the whole team forward into finding anyone they could talk to who knew him and the team had left to find them as you, Spencer, and Garcia worked on his possible whereabouts. As you walked in the break room to get some coffee, you felt a pain in your head. It was a familiar sharp pain on one side, and around your eye.
Migraine....god damnit. You thought to yourself.
After popping an ibuprofen and getting a snack you brought your coffee back to your desk, wincing as your eyes grew sensitive to your desk lamp. You heard thunder outside and within 5 minutes it started to pour down rain.
You always got migraines when a storm was coming and it was definitely not helping your situation right now.
As you waited for news on the case, you turned your desk lamp off and laid your head on your arms, leaning on your desk.
Spencer came in with a coffee in one hand, with at least 7 sugar packets in the other, but stopped whatever he was doing when he saw that your lamp was off and you were lying there. He had always had a crush on you, but never got the courage to mention it. Everyone on the team knew he liked you from the minute you started working here, but he just couldn't bring himself to do it. You had liked him too, but you were always too busy or too nervous to say anything about it. It was a mutual silence when it came to this topic. You're both shy as hell and you just hoped one day he would tell you or at least make some kind of move, but you just pushed the thought aside most days.
As the thunder grew louder, your heart raced. You hated storms, and now since they come with a huge migraine it made you dread them even more. Ever since you were little you were afraid of storms and you would always want to hide in your parents room until the thunder and lightening subsided. Unfortunately here you couldn't do that.
Spencer took a deep breath and walked over to your desk and sat next to you. He made sure you could hear him put his cup on your desk to not startle you.
You slowly raised your head up and met Spencer's concerned gaze.
"H-hey are you okay y/n?" He asked nervously.
"Yeah....um, I just have a migraine....and I'm scared of storms so I'm a little jumpy. I always get them when it's supposed to storm..." you said looking down and massaging your temples.
God why did I have to mumble so much. You thought to yourself.
"Did you know in some studies there were reports that the changes in barometric pressure, when dealing with things like thunder storms can lead to migraines and tension induced headaches?" He asked, his eyes looking nervously at you.
"Ah....well I'd nod in agreement but I think right now I'm in too much pain to even do that Reid..." you said smirking. He smiled a bit and poured all 7 sugar packets into his coffee.
"Do you want a side of coffee with your sugar?" You asked giggling.
He chuckled.
You looked outside just then to see a huge bolt of lightning shoot down and it made you jump.
Without thinking Spencer took your hand in his as he saw your panic stricken face.
You felt a spark as his hand touched yours, it seemed to fit perfectly in his, and you felt your heart rate slowing down to normal.
Spencer abruptly jerked his hand away and rubbed the back of his neck.
"I-I'm sorry....I just-I just saw that you were scared and I-I didn't want you to have a panic attack or anything and-"
You chuckled and took his other hand in yours and held on to it, giving him a reassuring grip.
"Spencer....you're fine...and....thank you...." you said smiling up at him.
"N-no problem y/n..." he said smiling back.
As you all sat there for a while, you saw Spencer start fidgeting with a pen on your desk. You looked over some files and sipped your coffee, when he spoke up.
"I-um...y/n? I-I have something that I had um...been wanting to tell you for a while now...I just don't want you to freak out or anything and I'll understand if you don't feel this w-"
"Spence...." you said laughing.
"You can tell me anything. I'm all ears..." you say holding his hand again.
"I-I like you....y/n....I um, I have for a while actually..." he said looking down at his now empty coffee cup.
You sat there for a second, registering what just happened. It was the moment you had been waiting for in a way. You smiled and took in how nervous he was.
"Spencer....I...I like you too...I was just too nervous to tell you..." you said smiling at him.
He grinned from ear to ear and looked at you.
"Well it's um...usually against protocol to date eachother, but I'm pretty sure they know that I've liked you....I'm kind of terrible at hiding things....so what do you say?" He asked.
"Dr. Spencer Reid are you asking me on a date?" You asked, chuckling.
"Indeed I am..." he said.
"Well...even though it is against protocol....it's one risk I'm willing to take. So, yes. I would love to go on a date with you." You said smiling.
"Awesome! I mean....great..." he said nervously.
Just then you got a call from Hotch saying they found some people who knew the Unsub and have a better outlook on his identity.
"Ok...great! We'll be here. See ya in a few." You said before hanging up.
"Did they find some people?" He asked, his serious face back on.
"Yup..." you said.
"Good. Well...I'm going to get more coffee, we have a long couple of hours ahead. Do-do you want to join?" He asked standing up.
"Sure!" You said walking behind him. You all started chatting and before long the team had made it back, but they all quietly stopped outside the break room.
"See Hotch...I told ya. Just leave them alone in here for a couple hours and boom. They finally talked to each other." Morgan said laughing.
"Ok....everyone. Meeting in 5." Hotch said loud enough for you and Spencer to hear. You both looked up embarrassed as you saw Hotch smirk for once as he turned to go to the meeting room.
A/N: hello loves! I hope you liked this one, it was storming so it kind of inspired me to write this one lol. I'm taking requests so if you want some oneshots then I'll be more than happy to do them. :)
