"We need to talk, Cole." I leaned back into the seat.

"Did we really need to come to Starbucks to discuss this?" Cole rolled his eyes.

"Wow," I said. "I didn't realize I was hurting your reputation."

"Beverly." Cole sighed. "That's not what I meant."

"Than what did you mean?" I asked sarcastically. "Because really, I'd love to know."

"Nothing," Cole sighed. "Anyway what is it?"

"Can you please stop pretending like this isn't happening!" My voice raised. "You're avoiding me at all costs!"

"What do you want me to say?" Cole hissed. "That I'm excited to be a father?"

"I need you to step up to the responsibility of being one!" I could tell that the customers around us were staring.

"Beverly." Cole's face reddened in anger. "People are looking."

"Go ahead!" I yelled.

"I told you I didn't want to be involved!" Cole said, his voice low.

"Screw you, Cole!" I said, storming out of Starbucks.

I decided to leave my car, I needed to walk off my steam. I wasn't paying attention to anything. I had my hands clenched as I walked home, and my eyes on the ground.

I began walking across a street without even looking, when I heard a honk.

I looked up to see that I nearly got hit by a car. I gasped as Grayson stepped out of his truck.

"Oh my god!" He ran up to me, looking me up and down as if checking for injuries. "Beverly! Are you okay?"

"I'm fine," I said. "Are you?"

Grayson brushed off the question. "Don't stress, it's bad for the baby."

"Excuse me?" Grayson looked at my stomach. "Oh, right."

"Sorry." He scratched his head.

"When did you get so protective?" I laughed.

"I've always been," Grayson said.

"Cute."

"Hey, you need a ride?" He asked.

"Well that's going against everything I was taught as a kid," I smiled. "But sure."

"Awesome."

I hopped into Grayson's truck, taking in the scent of air freshener and deodorant.

"This is such stranger danger." I giggled, as Grayson drove down the street.

"I'd love to get to know you, Beverly." Grayson blushed, and I felt my cheeks flame as well.

He drove me back to my house, and the whole time I was smiling.

I stepped out of the car and thanked him for the ride when he got me home.

"I want to see you again, Beverly." Grayson smiled. "Tomorrow at seven I'm going to take you out."

"O-Okay." I turned, a huge smile plastered on my face.

"You have a cute smile," Grayson said before driving off.

I walked inside, all smiley and stuff. My mom was sitting at the counter, reading the newspaper.

"Hey, Bev," she said. "How is my daughter and my soon to be grand daughter?"

When I told Mom about the baby, she was supportive. My mom is my best friend, and she understood my situation. My guess was that it was because she had me when she was nineteen, not too long after I got pregnant.

"We're good." I sat next to her, smiling.

"Someone looks like they're over Cole," Mom said.

"Mom he's so sweet!" I sighed, resting my chin in my hands.

"What's his name?" Mom leaned forward intently.

"Grayson."

"That name sounds cute!" She and I laughed. "I'm so glad you're happy, Beverly."

"Me too." I smiled. "I love you, Mom."

"I love you too, babe." She hugged me before heading upstairs to her room.

I took a shower and got into pajamas before curling into bed. I took to my nightly calls with Jenna to tell her about Grayson.

"Hey, boo." That's how she always answered the phone.

"Hey!" I smiled happily. "You will never believe my amazing day!"

"I'm just gonna guess it doesn't involve Cole?" Jenna asked.

"Ick. The bad part did," I said. "But not the best part. Grayson and I are going on a date tomorrow!"

"Oh, wow!" Jenna squealed. "I'm so happy for you! We should definitely go shopping!"

"Alright," I said. "Sounds amazing."

The next day, I met Jenna at our favorite mall, and we were both excited to find the perfect outfit.

"This ones cute!" I held up a purple sparkly top to my body.

"Um, Beverly," Jenna laughed. "We don't want you looking like a pregnant stripper on your first date with Grayson, would we?"

"Point taken." I rolled my eyes as I put the top back.

"Seriously!" Jenna cried. "That just screams stripper!"

I laughed. It meant so much to me to have my best friend being the most supportive person in my life. To be there for me when my life was at a breaking point. I needed that.

"Ooh!" Jenna squealed, pulling a dress off of a rack. "Please tell me you like this one!"

It was a navy blue maxi dress, with tan crotchet on the top. I looked at it in awe as I held it up to my body.

"Jenna!" I put a hand to my mouth. "This is adorable."

Jenna flipped her blond hair off her shoulder. "Well, that's what I'm here for."

"I'm in love!" I put the dress into my cart. "But what shoes will I wear?"

"I just got my new shoes from Nordstrom yesterday!" Jenna exclaimed. "They're kind of big on me, so you should be good!"

I thought about how Jenna and I had the same shoe size.

"Um, Jen." I smiled. "Why would I want shoes that are too big on me?"

"Bev." Jenna laughed. "You're feet are huge."

I looked down, and sure enough, my feet were swollen.

"Whoa." My eyes widened. "That's kind of a problem." Jenna giggled.

"Maybe you'd be better off in flats," she said. "I don't want you breaking your ankles."

I put a hand to my chest. "Oh no." I smiled. "Definitely not."
