Chapter 2

"Come on Alex, you need to it for me", David was desperately trying to persuade me to talk to Gayle. He asked me to befriend her and then give a good word about him just so he could get a chance to ask her out.

"David I don't think she's stupid to fall for that trick. She is smart enough to recognize the bonehead you truly are" I snickered as we were both walking through the crowded hallway.

The hallway was buzzing with the cheerful laughter and chatting of the students as they slowly disappeared to their respective classes. The noise made my head throbbed slowly giving me a mild headache. David was still tugging the lower back hem of my shirt but I chose to ignore him. We finally reached my Science class but I was already late so I silently slid at the back. I took my usual seat at the back corner of the classroom.

Our Science teacher, Mr. Rios, was a semi-bald middle-aged man with a big round stomach. If he only had a white long beard then he'd be mistaken for Santa Claus. Mr. Rios was starting his lecture about the functions of the heart when we heard a knock on the door. Moments later, we saw the familiar smile of our school principal. Mr. Rios excused himself from the class and stepped outside to talk with his superior.

"Settle down everyone," Mr. Rios yelled with his low voice and almost instantly everybody in the room sat properly to face him. When I looked up to see our teacher, I was shocked as to see a young lady standing beside him, then I recognized the face of the girl as the girl from the cafeteria.

"The movie girl!” I exclaimed to myself silently. I can't believe it was her… it was Gayle!

"Miss Hamilton, would you care to introduce yourself to the entire class?" Mr. Rios motioned for Gayle to take the spotlight. She nodded in response.

"My name is Gayle Hamilton," she smiled sweetly in front of the entire class. The boys gave her wolf whistles and clapped their hands wildly. Some of them even stood up and cheered. Mr. Rios glared at them, silencing the entire class.

"I came from Rochester Minnesota and moved here just last week. My mother works at the hospital downtown and that's the main reason why we moved", she continued and then smiled when she was finished.

"Thank you for that Ms. Hamilton, now if you may, please sit on the vacant chair beside Ms. Mendez", Mr. Rios pointed to the empty chair beside me. It took me several seconds to process what his point meant. It wasn't until Gayle walked towards me that I fully understood. She was going to be my new seatmate.

"Hi there!" Gayle chirped. I was startled and slightly jumped off my chair.

"H...Hi", I stuttered. I can't help it, I was nervous.

"So what is your name?" she asked.

"My name is Alexandrea but you can call me Alex for short," I said.

"Nice to meet you Alex", she replied and extended her hand politely for me to shake. I shook her hand and gave her a genuine smile.

"David will be so jealous once he finds out about this", I thought to myself.

I was trying to focus on Mr. Rios' discussion like everyone else but I had a strong urge to turn and look at Gayle, so I quietly looked at her direction, making sure that she would not notice me. Staring at her now, I could see how truly beautiful she was. She had porcelain white skin and clear complexion, I guess that's because Rochester has a cool weather. Her lips were glossy pink and there was a slight hint that she was wearing eyeliner and mascara. I wasn't really sure. She had brownish blonde hair that grew all the way down to her lower back. It was slightly curly and silky and smelled like watermelon. I don’t know why but it might be her shampoo or something. The bell rang, interrupting my thoughts and I quickly looked away. I joined the rest of the students outside the room and started walking towards my next class.

My next class was PE. I groaned inwardly as I walked towards the gym lockers to change. I hated this class. I hate the feeling of stickiness when I sweat. I particularly hate running, jumping, climbing or anything that involved any physical activity. I was early for my class though. I liked being early because I felt really uncomfortable being naked around other girls.

I was in deep thoughts while entering the locker rooms. I was still thinking about David and Gayle and was quite amused by the thought that David was exerting much effort to get a girl. He never had that problem before, and judging from the way he was forcing me to talk to Gayle, I guess that he was not taking the rejection quite easily.

"Serves him right," I smirked as I talked to myself, taking out my phone to check for messages.

"Yeah I bet it does," I was surprised to hear a male voice. As I looked up to see who it was, I was greeted with a half naked hot body. I knew that he was from my class because I recognized his face but didn't really know his name. I looked at his exposed body and then realized that he was only wearing a red boxer shorts with pink hearts printed all over it.

"Shit," he exclaimed and in a quick swift, he placed his hands to cover his shorts and turned bright red when he realized how ridiculous his boxers were. I turned tomato as well. I didn't know who was more embarrassed, me or him.

"What the heck are you doing here?!" I shouted, trying desperately to look at his eyes but failed.

"What are you doing here? This is the boys' locker room!" he snapped back.

I raised an eyebrow before my brain finally registered what he was saying. My faced turned from angry, confused and finally shocked. I ran outside the door as fast as I can and quickly entered the girls' locker room. I was panting and I could feel my cheeks turning hot.

"How can I not notice that I entered the wrong room? UGHH! Stupid! Stupid! Stupid!" I repeatedly slapped myself in the forehead.
