Chapter 3

The week went by fairly well. After that incident with the red boxer shorts, I was trying my best to avoid 'pink hearts' but I guess luck wasn't really on my side. We often bump (literally) into each other at school and that made everything all the more awkward for me, thankfully the weekend is here and I'm planning to spend it in total relaxation.

It was a cold Saturday morning and I was lying on my back in bed listening to the song “With a Smile” by Eraserheads. This has become my new emo song when the cold breezes hit.

“Lift your head, baby don't be scared of the things that could go wrong along the way. You'll get by with a smile...” I was singing along to my IPhone when it suddenly buzzed, startling me slightly. My phone registered David's picture. It was the one I took the last time we went out to eat. His mouth was opened wide as he was trying to eat an entire double decked cheese burger in just one bite.

“Hello,” I answered slightly irritated.

“Feeling grumpy aren't we?” I could hear David smile at the other end of the line.

“Spill it out I'm not in the mood right now.” I was annoyed by his remark.

“Well I just called to say that I'm outside your house and I'm officially kidnapping you.”

“What? Look I'm not really in the mood to do anything today. It's my day off.” I replied lazily.

David did not say anything for a few seconds. I heard rustling on the other line and got bored waiting for him so I moved my head to the edge of the bed allowing my hair to fall freely down to the floor I then raised my feet and leaned them on the wall while holding my phone to my ears. I closed my eyes and waited for David to answer the line or cancel the call. Today is my lazy day. It's my reward to myself after taking all the embarrassment last week and I deserve every bit of it. I was smiling to that thought when I heard someone speak.

“You look cute,” David said. When I opened my eyes, he was half kneeling next to my bed with his face really close to mine. His voice was a mere whisper and I blushed as I heard him speak and grew weak as he smiled. I don't know why I was feeling strange, this never happened before. I didn't move for a couple of seconds, until David finally stood up and sat next to me on the bed.

He was looking at me curiously while raising one eyebrow and half smiling. He leaned his arms at the back to support himself.

“Are you ok? You look... flushed.” David scrambled to get the right word.

“Uhm... yeah. You just... caught me off guard.” My voice was wavering as I suddenly felt nervous. Why the heck was I feeling nervous? I tried to calm myself and push the awkward feeling of nervousness away. I tried to look at David who was still looking over at me but I did not bother to stand up.

“Are you up for a slurpee?” David asked, standing up and walking over to my pile of CDs.

“Nope,” I replied casually and scanned my phone to play another song. This time it was “Tonight I’m Getting Over You” by Carly Rae Jepsen.

“Come on get your lazy butt off the bed. You need some fresh air and maybe some sunshine, you look a little pale.” David said while grabbing my arm and forcing me to stand up. I resisted, but it was useless David was too strong. He pushed me to the bathroom to take a bath but I was stubborn. I stood at the doorframe while crossing my arms over my chest and shaking my head.

“You're such a lazy stubborn ass” David said chuckling.

“And you're an annoying jerk,” I stuck out my tongue at him .
