"Are you going to the Halloween party? Harry?" Ginny asks me, excitement clear in her voice.
"I wouldn't miss it. Are you going with anyone?" I ask, since Ginny and I have decided to stay strictly friends.
"I wish. I have someone that I want to ask, it would be even better if they asked me."Ginny answers honestly, gaining Ron and Hermione's attention.
"Who?" Ron asks, mouth full of food.
"Don't talk with your mouth full Ron. It's gross." Hermione says to her boyfriend.
Hermione and Ron became official sometime during the summer. Leaving Ginny and I the only ones in our close friend group single. Neville has a painfully obvious crush on Luna and Dean and Seamus started dating at the beginning of the year. It wasn't thay big of a surprise as they always were together.
"Sorry, 'Mione." Ron apologizes before swallowing whatevet food he has left in his mouth. "Ginny, who do you like?"
"You guys have too promise not to tell another living soul. Understood?" Ginny demands, face red from embarrassment.
"Understood." Hermione says with a nod.
"I like Blaise." Ginny says before looking down at the table.
"Zabini?!" Ron exclaims, gainin the attention of most of the Great Hall, including Blaise himself.
"Shut up you bloody idiot!" Ginny yells at Ron, clearly upset with her older brother.
"Sorry, I just didn't expect you to like a Slytherin." Ron apologizes.
"Please don't tell him." Ginny pleads.
"None of us will, don't worry." I say, knowing that none of us will spread her secret.
"Good. So, Harry, hows Malfoy doing?" Ginny asks smugly.
"What do you mean?" I ask and I can feel my face heating up with embarrassment.
"I mean, you stare at him enough so I thought you would know how he is." Ginny says with a smirk.
After Ginny and I ended things I decided to tell everyone that I was gay. Ron was a bit hesitant at first but he quickly came around just like everyone else. Hermione claimed that she knew ever since we met in First year, and I wouldn't doubt it if she was telling the truth. She is the brightest witch of our age. But the one thing I neglected telling everyone was my crush on Malfoy. I even try to avoid him this year so no one gets suspicious.
"I don't know. Why don't you go ask him?" I snap, turning my attention to the guy we're talking about.
"Sorry for asking, geez." Ginny says before her, Ron and Hermione start up a conversation about Quidditch while I continue to look at Malfoy.
After a few seconds Malfoy makes eye contact me. And he does something that catches me completely off guard. He winked at me before joining in on Zabini and Parkinson's conversation as of nothin happened. DRACO BLOODY MALFOY WINKED AT ME!
"Hey Harry!" Ginny yells as she shakes my arm to get my attention.
"What?" I ask, snapping out of my trance.
"Are you going to ask anyone to the Halloween party? It would be strange for Harry Potter to go without a date." Ginny says, her last sentence oozing with sarcasm.
"I don't know yet. The only person I want to ask hates my guts." I answer before I realize what I was saying.
"And who's that?" Hermione asks.
"You guys would hate me if I told you." I say, looking down at my barely eaten plate of food.
"Nothing involving who you have a crush on would make us hate you." Ginny says convincingly.
"Fine, I'll tell you. I like Malfoy, okay?" I tell them with a sigh before looking at each of them to see their reactions.
Hermione looks as if she already knew, same with Ginny and Ron just looks lost and confused. I didn't expect Ron to understand it right away.
"If you two get together if he hurts you I'll hex him to oblivion." Ron says, giving a slightly less hateful response than I thought he would. "I'm not saying that I understand why you like him. But, your my best friend so I guess I just have to accept it and move on."
"Ask him to the Halloween party, he'd be stupid to say no." Ginny suggests.
"And how should I go about doing that? Getting up from this table, walk over to the Slytherin table, sit down and ask him in front of the entire school?" I ask sarcastically, knowing that he would never say yes.
"No, tell him to meet you somewhere in private. So if he says no, only you two will know about what happened." Hermione suggests.
"Yeah. Do it like that." Ron agrees with Hermione, and I don't blame him, it's not a bad idea.
"I'll think about it." I say before breakfast ends and the official school day begins.
