Flower Children 🌸 [Fukigen Na Mononokean]

Chapter 1

× UNDERWORLD

"Abeno-san walk slower!" a midnight blue-haired boy crowed for the Mononokean's Master; Abeno Haruitsuki from behind him, panting with a white fuzz ball clinging onto his back. Abeno has short slightly spiky blond hair and wearing his usual working kimono.

Abeno ignored his only male human employee, Ashiya Hanae and keep walking inexpressive towards a shop named 'Kiyakudo' in the Underworld.

He's ignoring me, isn't he? Does he still mad at me? Hanae lets out a sigh and quickens his pace as not to be left behind with demons that keep staring at them while whispering to each other as they walk past.

Abeno slides open the door and greet the master of the Kiyakudo then Hanae closed the door behind him and stood beside his superior.

"Koura-san, I'm sorry because of me we're late for our appointment!" Ashiya bowed in an enthusiastic manner making the fuzz ball on his shoulder to get thrown off and landed on the floor with a soft thud. With a soft gasp and many sorry to Fuzzy, Koura invited them inside.

"Oh, you're here! Come in, come in~" a head peeked through the door inside the shop. Abeno who was by the door scowled and tried to close it with Rippou- the Legislator, a superior to Abeno- between the sliding door.

"A-abeno-san you're going to kill him!!" Ashiya frantically came up beside him trying to calm him down while Koura is giggling behind them, a hand on her right cheek. "Koura-san, please do something!"

"It's very lively whenever they're together~" Koura giggles in response.

"What are you doing here?" Abeno said with a dark expression on his face (he's still trying to close the door hoping it's going chopped off the Legislator's head).

"D-don't be like that Haruitsuki, I got a job for you. You really can't refuse a job request from me and of course, I'm here to see my lovely Shizuku 💕" Rippou said with difficulty with the door closing in around his neck while forcing the door to open with his hands.

"You pervert siscon" Abeno spat literally looking down at him with disgust.

"Eeh that's so mean Haruitsuki~ ahh wait I'm sorry you can let go now!!" After a while, Abeno finally let go and they come inside a Japanese-style room to discuss issues that need help from the Mononokean. Shizuku another demon who works at the shop brought tea and seated beside her beloved master.

"I'm calling you here because of a girl who's residing in a shrine on the Mundane world-" Koura started but was interrupted by Shizuku.

"Because of that girl, Koura-sama business isn't going so well lately!" Shizuku said in anger clinging to Koura's arm.

"Shizuku, calm down I haven't finished yet" Koura calmed her employee and continue to talk. "As Shizuku said - she's a healer, humans and demons have come to her to seek help in curing their diseases" with a worried face, she took a sip of tea from her cup.

"She might be the Goddess of the temple" Abeno stated.

"A Goddess!! Are we going to talk sense with a Goddess?!!" Ashiya choked on his drink, alarmed. Terrified even, he would be lying if he says he doesn't. He's in fact still freshly remembers the time he met the most terrifying yokai; The Executive and he definitely and absolutely sure he doesn't want to go through it again.

But a Goddess? Wouldn't the moment you finally see 'Them'  is when you meet your end but he can see them even while he's still alive? He's not sure to think of it as a blessing or a catastrophe.

"You're funny Ashiya-kun but that's not possible as the Goddess died some time ago" Rippou explained blowing smoke, his smoke pipe in his hand. "You see Ashiya-kun, Gods or Goddesses died when there's no one to worshiped or believe in them anymore"

"Does that mean she's impersonating a Goddess!" Shizuku suggested.

"Does a yokai has the ability to heal?" Ashiya commented. He was told by Abeno not to say anything unnecessary all the time but he can't help saying what's in his mind because he never saw a demon with abilities besides transforming or one like his own.

He glances toward Abeno beside him and was surprised because he doesn't get mad at him for speaking and doesn't look annoyed like he usually does. More like he doesn't look like anything... he was listening with a calm expression on.

They all shrugged, looking a little uncomfortable because that's what have them worried.

"So you want me to exorcist her" Abeno affirmed.

"And I want you to bring her to me before the Executive take this matter into his own hands" Rippou added after not having a word with him after the commotion he and Abeno made.

× MUNDANE WORLD

"Are you scared Ashiya?" Abeno said closing the small door of Mononokean on the wall of their school rooftop. He looks over at Ashiya who just stood in the middle staring off into the distance...

"Of course I am! We're talking about a Goddess here! What if she's mad that we interfere with her duty and she resents us or even worse, take our lives! Aren't you scared Abeno-san or are you an immortal?!" he panicked, all color leaves his face. He is very pale normally but now it's more like he's already dead.

"Calm down!" Abeno smacked his head, earning a yelped of pain from Ashiya. "We don't even know yet if she's really a Goddess or just a yokai" he replied rubbing his nape feeling tired all of sudden although school hasn't even ended yet.

"Well okay maybe she's not one and just some random yokai but she can heal, doesn't that mean something? Do yokai normally have that kind of power- A-a-abeno-san? where are you going?" Ashiya chases after Abeno who walks away towards the door.

"Class" right on cue, the school's bell rang indicating lunch time is over.

"Are we going there?" Ashiya said to the man seated in front of him.

"Of course, we're given a week and there are still many clients on the waiting list. The faster we get this done the better" Abeno sounded a little annoyed.

"Ashiya-kun" 

Ashiya shrieked when a small hand tapped the man's back. They both turned their attention to the girl that is rather short for her age. She has brown short hair and eyes; Fujiwara Zenko.

"Zenko-chan! What's wrong? Why are you here?" Ashiya questioned her.

"Am I not allowed to be here?" she answered with her usual straight face. Ashiya shakes his head vigorously while saying 'No' in reply.

"I wanted to ask for help-" Zenko asked but got cut off by Abeno.

"Sorry but we're busy ourselves" Abeno chirped shoving his stuff inside his bag (he doesn't sound apologetic at all) 😅😅😅. Ashiya looks between Abeno and Zenko, of course, he wanted to help her but he can't really oppose Abeno because like he said they might or might not have a lot of job requests.

"Is that so... my father said he wanted you to see if the Goddess of the nearby shrine is back because he believes you can see ghosts so maybe you can see them too..." Zenko mumbled in disappointments and begin to walk away before Abeno stopped her.

"So it's true, there really is a Goddess there!" Ashiya shouted and a hand flies to his face covering his mouth.

"Shh!" Abeno shushed him up and looked around to see their classmates giving them a strange look but ignore them eventually and exited the classroom. Ashiya looked at him a bit puzzled.

"We'll take up your offer" Abeno suggested with a determined expression. He needed to take this chance, to be a step closer to unveil the so-called Goddess's identity.

Zenko looks at them questioningly but agreed with either way. Father would be happy she thought.
