I've always loved flowers, well any plants really, something about the life and freshness they bring into the world makes me smile every time I think about them. My whole house is full of plants, and to say my garden is overgrown, would be an understatement.
I saw him ride by on a bicycle today. He lent it against the fence as he leaned over and picked a small handful of freesias, before putting them in his basket and riding quickly away. I've never seen him pick more than one flower before, I've never seen him on a bike, either.
I don't know why the boy chooses my garden, surely there must be dozens of gardens on his route that have just as many flowers in them. I couldn't care less about him taking my flowers, flowers grow back. If anything i'm honoured that out of all the flowers he could have picked he chose mine. He could pick every flower in my garden, for all I care, I just wish I knew why.
I want to know where he goes. I want to know who gets flowers from this boy every Saturday afternoon. I want to know if they're grateful, I would be. I want to know why I never see him come back from wherever he goes. I want to know.
I want to know.
