"It's it funny how we were neighbours a while back, and now look at us. Roommates! Who would've knew!" Lucius said, unusually having enthusiasm in him.

"I don't appreciate the upgrade." I replied.

"How come you're so talkative now? I asked.

"I have nothing to lose now. I didn't want you to know about me, but you saw the arm fall out of my trash bags. I tried to control you from going overboard, but you know how everything panned out. So let's look into the future now, not the past." He said.

"What future? We've been rotting in this room together for a week. I've been in here for months. I am dying inside, Lucius. I can't take electric shocks every single day. Can you come up with a plan soon?"

"Maya, I told you. I need time. We only have one shot."

"Why can't you just pull some strings with the people here so that they release you?" I asked.

"There are only a limited strings I can pull. Detective Dalton has the upper hand now." He said.

"Lucius, if you do not come up with a plan by tomorrow, I will find a way to end my life." I said before the doors to our room opened. The same guards grabbed my arms and dragged me out, taking me to the room which I dreaded the most.

After my usual shock treatment, I heard Lucius' voice. I opened my droopy eyes but didn't see anyone. The room with the shock machine was empty, except for my body. I realised that the muffled sounds were coming from outside. Lucius must have been speaking to the guards.

I woke up a while later, opening my eyes to Lucius sitting on his bed and staring at me. I sat up, put my feet on the cold ground and walked towards the door to go for dinner. I opened the door but took a glance at Lucius who was still looking at me.

"What?" I asked.

"I have a plan, Maya." He replied.
