Every human is born with a guardian spirit.
At birth, a human and their spirit form a bond that will grant the human one power. The power, normally called Aptitude, is granted once the human comes of age.
If the spirit dies, the Aptitude will die with it.
Humans and spirits have lived in harmony under this routine, up until now. A force has revealed itself in brute violence-- ravaging towns, stealing spirits from their humans and absorbing their energy.
And it's up to you to stop it.

Guardian Spirits exist in human literature, as well as in real life. They are often represented as a combined energy, linked with their human in order to form a solid state. Spirits can be portrayed in human form, most often shown with wings, but are traditionally depicted as mythical or genuine creatures. Such creatures include domesticated animals (along the line of cats, dogs, horses, cows, or other), and also pegasi, dragons, fairies, etc. The larger the spirit, the stronger it is.
