Thank you for supporting me <3 Y'all are very nice people *sniffs* - Lela
Warning: This chapter contains profanity
Neon light-plays scatter all over Rosa Berduri's crooked, nooks and crannies. The bartenders are too busy mixing cocktails and serving customers to notice a sinister skit taking place beneath soft limelight enveloping the exit of the bar. The girl in tank tops is anxiously waiting for someone by the exit. She had done this many times, but it always feels like the first time she brought in the goods. She leans in closer to the shadows of the walls when she feels sets of eyes watching her. Her hands sweat profusely as she grips on her seemingly heavy sling bag. She feels someone touch her shoulders.
"Hey." The rough voice speaks.
She turns her back to discover a heavyset man. She wants to walk away but she can't –she has to wait for someone pick up the goods. The man smiles without any warning, revealing a gap between his two front teeth. The girl feels comforted by the smile for a second only to double her guard later on.
"Is there's anything that I can help you with?" She replies gingerly as she slowly removes the man's hand from her shoulders.
"Are you new here? Waiting for a girlfriend?" The rough voice speaks again. He leans into the cascade of light and takes a step back, possibly in an attempt to not scare the girl. The features once hidden in ebony black of shadows came to reveal. "Perhaps for a gent?" He continues as he cocks his head to the dancing floor.
The girl tries to keep her breathing in rhythm and loosens her grip on her sling bag.
"Nah, Bunga Kebaya sends me here." The girl explains coolly. She holds her studded snapback and pulls it slightly downwards. She can see a shadow nearing behind the man. It's Sang Kelembai.
"Ohhh..." The man nods vigorously. "I see... I am new here. I don't really know you Bunga Kebaya peeps but, nice to meet'cha." He continued as he points to the rose emblem branded on his brown leather jacket.
He's a new addition to the blood spangled bouncers of Rosa Berduri Night Club. She bets he didn't know what he signed up for. The girl nodded understandingly. The silence that fills in the air between them was broken when the owner of footsteps that was lingering in the hallway finally came to presence.
Sang Kelembai grins widely as he bid the bouncer a good morning. He takes a glance on his watch, it's 4 a.m.. When the man's out of sight, he exchanges a piece of paper with the girl's sling bag. The girl doesn't dare to look up. She folded the piece of paper and stuffs it into her jean's pocket.
"Take care." Sang Kelembai said as he goes out into the exit.
The girl sinks into the darkness of the hallway. 15 minutes. Then a couple emerges from the thinning crowd of night howlers. They are dressed as any typical hipster folk. The girl then takes out a thick roll of RM50 notes and passes it to the couple as they walk by.
"Thanks lil' kitts. Stay safe 'kay?" The girl with the blingee top said as she clutches the roll of money and slips it into her purse.
10 minutes, and the girl flee from the alcohol-filled air into the uncertainty of the night.
**********
"Holy shit, maliboo." Rachel's eyes widens simultaneously as she sees packets of white powder stacked onto the car's bonnet.
Leeya gasps simultaneously. She's heard rumours of the stuff circulating around, but it's the first time she'd ever seen cold, hard stacks of cocaine in front of her eyes. They were making way out to the parking lot from the exit when they heard a squealing sound coming from the car. She'd insisted on checking because she thought a stray cat might've been stuck in the car's engine. Then, they saw trails of white powdery stuff from the bunk. Rach opened it, and lo and behold –Fairy powder (as their girlfriends love to call it.).
She pulled Rach's hand away and proceeds to quickly tiptoe and hold the bonnet cover to slam it shut. What have they done? It's accidental, but if the dealers see them they might get killed. She'd watched episodes of Triple 9 Busts to know what happens next. At this point, she just wants to get away from there.
"Hold up, I'm tight on the purse now." Rachel said as she races to grab a packet of the powder and stuffs it into her handbag.
Leeya shakes her head in disbelieve. She slams the cover in determination to leave the place.
"I can't believe you did that." Leeya said as they walk to their car.
"Darlin', when life gives you lemonade instead of lemon, you take 'em." Rachel said as she giggles mischievously. The fairy godmother knows how to turn a packet of coke into a Prada bag, and she will do it.
From the edge of the building, come footsteps, then bullets. The two butterflies bleed on the ground of tar, choking for air and mercy. Their last goodbye floats into the air.
"Basic bitches should just stay basic."
Sang Kelembai clicks his tongue and rummages through one of the girl's handbag. He clutches on the bagful of coke and kisses the delicate bag. He walks to the car containing the full cargo as two men clad in cleaning suits drag the girls into plastic bags.
